Beautifully Chaotic

I've never played any of the Splinter Cell series, but as I await for the release of Splinter Cell: Double Agent, I wanted to prep myself for it. Fortunately, with Xbox 360 backward compatibility, I bought Chaos Theory. This is, by far, one of the most mind-blowing and suspenseful game I've ever played! It delivers in intensity, immersive, and innovative levels. Since I'm familiar with the Hitman franchise, I thought I could get into another stealth-driven game where skills and patience are highly required.

If you want to go through this game in complete stealth mode, the experience is truly compelling and satisfying. Gameplay and environment is completely open-ended, leaving you to go about your objectives any way your heart desires. Be sure to put your night vision to good use because you'll most likely miss a useful crawling space as a shortcut from point A to point B. And shadows will be your best friend throughout the game. The slightest noise of your footsteps or movements exposed to an inch of light will make the AI's very suspicious. They are that advance.

The environment is unreal! Each area and rooms are all unique and non-repetive. The levels are very complex and realistic, and makes you feel like you're actually in the game. Sound effects are just as awesome. You can hear AI's conversing with each other, electricals going haywire, birds chirping, water dripping... Made me wish I had a 5.1 stereo surround sound hooked up.

The only thing that kept the fun factor from getting full 5 stars is that I often got lost. Although the map is helpful and well designed, at times I find it hard to see exactly where I was and not knowing how to get to the next objective. And one false move (getting caught, accidently bashing a door open, etc.) had me reloading the game countless times. This game is very challenging if you want to keep yourself undetected.

If you appreciate games that encourage stealth, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is an amazing title to add to your library. I didn't care much for the multiplayer or co-op modes, but I'm sure is just as exciting.

"Chaos Theory" is one of the funnest games I played.

Both creepy and intriguing, Chaos Theory brings back excitement into console gaming. I've still got a ways to go in the game, but 'boring' is not a word I would use in describing Chaos Theory. Plus, even in 'easy' mode the game is tough from the beginning. So hold on tight, you're in for an excellent ride.

The latest Splinter Cell game to come out and of course the best one. The game was kind of short, just like all the others, but good action and fun missions throughout the whole thing. This game has amazing graphics! I played in on my Xbox 360. But its a really fun game. A plus is that you can use a knife to take out enemies now instead of your pistol etc. Good game. Some missions get quite tough and you have to think of a strategy to get passed what needs to be done. But after sitting and playing you will eventually figure it out. I definately recommend this to any gamer that wants a good game for a really cheap price. This game will keep you entertained.

Stay in the dark.

powerfully addicting

This was my first Splinter Cell game and I must say, I am very impressed with everything about it. A friend recommended it to me and I decided to give it a try because it was a stealth game rather than a more rambo like one and now I find it rather hard to turn off. This game requires the player to have much patience because there are many parts where you simply must wait, either for a person to leave/enter a room or for a conversation to end. The player should also be able to think on their feet and find different ways to get information (such as interrogating different people) while completing their primary, secondary and possibly bonus objectives. The game is challenging but each level is possible to beat no matter what level of gamer you are (trust me, I'm a green myself), some just take longer than others. If you really get stuck somewhere you may want to refer to a walkthrough to help you out but the best part of the game is not only figuring out all that needs to be done, but executing it as well.

(...) its a MUST BUY

Now I have not played the single player much but it has NICE graphics. The game requires you to be smart and think quick.Remembers: Gadgets are a spys best friend.Anyways...I spent most of my time playing Xbox LIVE and playing versus. Now what I like about the game is that there aren't a lot of little kids playing this (because this game takes ALOT of skill online). Unlike Halo 2 which has more kids playing the Micheal Jackson does. There people (most of them) are really cool. You don't get much screamers/noobs/cheaters as you do in Halo 2. This is the first game that has a SAM type multiplayer (Stealth Action Multiplayer). You hide in shadows clinb poles waiting for the merc to come. Since this is srealth, I think Halo 2 addicts will do very poorly at the game since they will most likly go for a aggresive type aproach. Now as the merc you have 3 choices of guns. You have Assualt Rifle(also a sniper), Sub Machine Gun, and the Shotgun(also known as the Noob Toob, and Noob Cannon.) On different maps will be good for different guns.
Example. A map that has some good open spaces will be good for the sniper. A map with small, not so open rooms will be good for SMG or Shotgun.

DEATHMATCH: One type of the multiplayer. The host (person who created the game) gives the spys a certain amount of lives and the mercs a certain amount of lives. The most is 10. So the object of the game is to make the other run out of lives. Or the host can put infanite lives but then must put a time limit then the team with the most kills at the end wins.

STORY: Now this is ALOT more challenging. The spies have a certain amount of objectives and have to complete 2 or 3 or 4 of the objectives (depends which map). The mercs objectives in track down and terminate the spies before they can complete their objectives. There are 3 types of objectives for the spy. One is where you must steal a disk and then drop it off at a suitcase. If you die it will be dropped. If the merc is stupid enough he will not return it (return it by touching it when you die) then you can pick it where you died. The next obj. is where you set a bomb and have to wait about 30 sec for it blow and that gives the merc alot of time to defuse the bomb so guard to well. The last obj. is simiar to the one in PT. You must hack a computer within like 15 seconds.Oh and almost forgot. Story mode can be ranked or unranked. Deathmatch can not be ranked. And the default lives are SPY:4 Merc:3.

DISK HUNT:
The last game type is the very least popular (VERY, VERY, few people play it) so I do not what to explain it.

GADGETS/WEAPONS: These (in the right hands) can be very deadly.

SPY: Sticky Cam, Heart Beat (my fav), Spy Bullet, Alarm Snare, Camo. Suit(people with 360's see a green outline so its useless), Chaff Gernades(VERY useful on Story Mode),Smoke Gernades (good for close combat), and Flashbangs (good for get-aways).

MERC: Frag Gernades, Flares, Spy Trackers, Backpack, Tazer, Cam. Net, Mines, and Gas Masks (Smoke Gernades slow down the merc and make the merc fall alseep if he stays in the smoke to long. The Gas Mask prevents this)

Well thats all I can type for now. Now if you excuse me and got some mercs to jump on and necks to break.

The multiplayer is CRAZY good!

The multiplayer portion of this game is so good it'll have you playing for hours on end. The fact that there are 11 new multiplayer maps is enough for you to go out and buy this game, that is if you are Xbox Live enabled. All of these maps are very "hands on" when it comes to gameplay. You will find plenty of hiding spots, crawl spaces, ventilation shafts, switches, and buttons that will make each game new and exciting. These maps are much more detailed than anything you've seen in past games and with so many ways to complete the task at hand, each time you play it will seem very new.

There are 3 different gametypes that you can choose from when setting up a game online. They are story mode, disk hunt, and last but not least a deathmatch mode. In the story mode, the spies try to comlete a task while the mercs try to stop them. When you complete a certain part, another area usually becomes accessable where another task needs to be completed. In the disk hunt mode, the spies much search for and collect disks scattered across the map. This is a pretty easy gametype to play as it requires less skill than the previous story mode. The last type is pretty self explanitory where each team tries to kill the other.

While the graphics and visuals in multiplayer aren't as top-notch compared to the single player campaign, they are in no way less superior. The graphics are great and keep the multiplayer fresh and new. I don't think anyone can gripe about the graphics in the multiplayer portion of the game. All the levels are very detailed with smooth, crisp textures and lots of different environments.

With all the different maps and gametypes available, this game has definite replay value and will keep gamers playing for a long time to come.

I never thought knifing someone in the back could be so fun!

Just like what the title said, it is fun to assassinate with the great arsenal of weapons Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory stunningly brings. The enviroments, enemy's, weapons, are amazing. Some of my favorite elements are that your enemy's talk to eachother casualy. Like in Hokkaido, Japan, two enemy's are talking about ninjas raiding a oil rig. This is a definite refrence to Splinter Cell 1. While I have yet to play versus mode, coop is great. I like the dependancy on the teamate to: Human Ladder, Tomoe Nage, Jamming Electronics to silently infiltrate, etc. THIS IS AN AWESOME GAME....BUY IT!

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is the third in a series of three games (to date). It is available for the XBOX, Play Station 2, PC, Game Cube and Game Boy Advance. This review is in reference to the XBOX version.

Those who are familiar with the Splinter Cell series have come to expect a product that is fresh, innovative and truly ahead of the pack in terms of game play, graphics and all of the more technical aspects of a video game. Chaos Theory not only lives up to, but exceeds those expectations. Even though we have now entered the "Next-Gen" era, this game still outshines most of the other games currently available. This is because Splinter Cell games are notoriously ahead of their time and implement the most advanced techniques and technologies available, even if it means creating them from the ground up.

In this third installation of the series the year is 2007. However, I'll skip the obligatory plotline info and get straight to the guts of the game. The single player mission is of course, utterly superb in every way imaginable. I could go on telling you about all the intricate story, unbelievably beautiful lighting and particle effects, fluid game play and such, but, perhaps the most important thing is simply that it will literally be months before you stop saying "these graphics are insane" or "OMFG, this game freakin ROCKS"! No joke, it's that good.

Also included in the package is the multiplayer mode introduced in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. The graphics have been updated and look great. A few new gadgets have been introduced: the Mercs now have a camera network at their disposal, while the spies have a heart-beat sensor and the glorious therm-optic camouflage. A few moves have also made an appearance: the Mercs have charge and berserk abilities while the spies are now able to pull foes over railings and execute an inverted hang. Pandora Tomorrow would be worth the price just for the MP element. But that isn't all; once again, the bar has been raised and we are presented with something completely new and unexpected - Splinter Cell Co-Op mode. In Co-Op you partner up with a friend via Xbox LIVE to take on computer AI throughout a number of well crafted missions for a completely new experience. Chaos Theory is arguably the best in the series and undoubtedly the most addictive game I have EVER played - I still play it till this day. Another classic stunner.

Chaos Theory- The best Splinter Cell so far

Your wetsuit glistens in the pouring rain. Thunder booms above you. It is pitch black outside, and with your night vision you see two guards approaching. One of them sees you, but he is down before he can react. The other guard notices his fallen comrade, and begins to fear for his life.

This is an excellent game. It has three modes: Single player, Multiplayer, and Co-operative. I will not be commenting on the Multiplayer, as I do not have X-box Live. And dont let lack of Live stop you! The cooperative mode is amazing, with you and a partner playing as dual splinter cells completing a common mission. As soon as I bought the game, I took it home and played Co-op with a freind. Within 15 minutes, I was yelling "Cover Me!" at the TV screen and, "Hey, you take this guy, I need to finish hacking". It was amazing how quickly you are absorbed into the game. My freind would be rappelling me down an air vent upside-down, so I could hack a keypad. I was screaming "UP!" as two guards walked into the room. Lack of Live should not keep you from purchasing this game.

Single Player Features:
-Physics greatly improved from Splinter Cell and PT. Bodies will contort when hit with grenades and bullets.
-More realistic- In SC 1, when you shot an enemy in the chest they would barely react, then shoot at you. Two chest shots will kill anyone in SC, and your SC-20K's increased rate of fire makes that very easy.
-New weapons- Like the combat knife, and SC-20K shotgun attachment.
-Quicker close combat kills- In SC and PT, when an enemy has their gun out, it took two close range hits- with a 10 second delay- to knock them out. In CT, one hit- from the front or the back can kill or knock out.

Co-op Features:
-Completely different levels from single player
-Equipment is perfectly tuned to the missions
-Cool almost movie like things such as being lowered by a rope into a room full of lasers.
-Parallel plot line to Sam Fischer's adventures

All in all, this is an excellent game, well worth the 19.99.

So awsome!!!! Must have
