Lacks the atmosphere that it's prequel added to the game

Unreal Tournament-adding a new defintion of death match in the dictionary. Forget the Quake 3 3-D crap, that's just boring. Unreal Tournament actually feeled and still does feel like a single player experience for a multiplayer game. The original unreal tournament hit the shelves in about november 1999. What did it provide for the gaming community that was good?:

Nice menu windows friendly system
A variety of game-types and options
A efficiently supported multiplayer community
Awesome graphics
Awesome audio
Good storyline
More atmospheric death match game-play
Earpopping soundtracks
Nice weapons
And more

What it provided for the gaming community that was bad:?

Some stability issues and bugs
And more

I really did like the original unreal tournament. Unreal tournament 2003 falls into abyss that does not end.

When Unreal Tournament 2003 hit the shelves, the day it came out, I raced to the shelves to my nearest electronics store and purchased it new, not preowned, new. Brought it home, opened it up, uninstalled the original Unreal Tournament, while my heart was beating, and inserted the first UT 2003 disc into my CD-ROM. Big mistake. After the installation process was finished, I immediately went into the programs menu and selected unreal tournament 2003-play unreal tournament 2003. It started up. I patiently waited for it to load. I configured the ingame settings, then started single player. WOWIE, the graphics were truly cutting-edge, featuring bump-mapping support, immerse fluids and high polygon counts, super high resolution textures and advanced geometry, and more. Sound was well done, featuring support for the latest EAX and Dolby Digital surround sound. The intro scene was ripped straight from WWF. I started the game. Played it. So what do you get for 55$? Now here's the pros:

Great graphics
Great sound
Intense faced paced action
Ragdoll physics adds a bonus
Cool new bombing (something) mode
Cool mp and sp modes
Cons:

Gets real boring quite soon
Very little immersion
too robust music
too many bugs
What's with the weapons dood?
and more

Now my system specs are:

AMD ATHLON XP 2300+
3GB of PC3000 DDR-SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Windows XP Pro
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Plantinum

The game runs great even with all settings maxed out, and sounds awesome. Other than that and the ragdoll physics, both mp and sp modes, cool new game-type, and fast paced action, the game crawls down to a disapointing sequel. Really.

The Verdict:

3.5 stars out of 5.0 stars

Is it worth the money? That's for you to decide.

This is a STUFF!!

I got the demo for this game and man it rocks!!!!!! Even though you have to start instant action on the demo, it ROCKS!!!!! The graphics are pretty much the best u have seen! As good as halo graphics. I say if you play this game set it to ALOT of BOTS. It makes the game alot better. No flaw game play. If u are a kid and arent allowed to play m-rated games, this game has the feature to turn off gore and language!! That is good for u kids out there!

Different than UT and still a lotta fun

We've all heard the complainers saying it's not UT. Well... it's not. But how exciting would that be? We've had UT for 3+ years. UT2k3 is a good evolution (not revolution)and is fun to play. After you buy it. try it out online. They'll have several servers for the original UT and UT2k3 then judge for yourself

I recommend highly.

This game is really a great game. The graphics/gameplay are topnotch. If your looking for some strait up deathmatch or CTF, look no further, just pick up a copy of UT2003. I've been hooked since it arrived.

Unreal is, well.... Unreal!

This is my favorite computer game of all time (and being a big gamer, that means that this game is a force to be reckoned with)! I love this game! The graphics are unbeatable and the Dolby Digital sound is superb. If you loved the original Unreal or any of the Quake games, then this game is for you. If you like any kind of shooter, this game is for you, too. The gameplay is flawless and you often forget that you are even pressing buttons and moving a mouse and feel as if you are in some strange world spectating people duking it out with futuristic weapons. The variety of weapons in this game is great, and each has its strengths and weaknesses (My personal favorite is the Flak Cannon!). The variety of game modes is impressive, ranging from your classic deathmatch to the new bombing run mode, which is what you'd get if a rocket launcher was standard equipment in the NFL! This game never loses its fun factor and continues to grow on you. I know that this one's gonna be hard to beat and will be at the top of my list for quite a while. If you like shooters, this is the perfect game for you. The graphics are superb, especially if you have a nice system to run it on- an old one doesn't do it justice. This is a must for a LAN party. This game will have you sitting at your computer for days cause once you start it is very, very hard to stop! I had to pull myself away from it just to write this very review that you're reading!

Sweet

Ok guys, basically, this game rules. I've downloaded and played the demo...and I just blows away all other FPS's. The graphics are amazing, but not only that, the physics of the game rule. There will be no more killing someone and having half of their body hanging off of the ledge they were on. They will actually SLIDE down a cliff face, or fall and thud on the ground. In the original UT, there was a lot of "useless" gore. (If you played with the gore on.) In UT 2003, the gore is more physics based. For example, if you fire a rocket at someones leg, and kill them, there leg will blow off, instead of there entire body turning into giblets.

Next, the weapons. I personally find the weapons in UT2003 not up to par with the rest of the game. The weapons themselves are mostly the same as they were in UT, with only a few minor changes. Instead of the sniper rifle, there is a "Lightning Cannon" which is a sniper weapon which fires, you guessed, large lightning bolts. The Pulse Rifle was replaced by the Link Gun which is exactly the same, except that when you use secondary fire on an ally, whie he is using it, his beam will add your beams power to it, turning it into a devastating stream of energy. The Flak Cannon is the asme, except the flak that it fires is slightly closer together than in UT, allowing it to do more concentrated damamge. There is no more ripper. In addition to the redeemer, there is an "ion painter" that paints a target for an orbital Ion cannon to obliterate them. I think that they should've added more weapons to be honest.

Well, I hope this helps. If you liked UT, you'll love UT2003. If you like FPS's for that matter, you'll love UT2003.

WOW!!!

This has got to be the most fun game I have played yet. I'm usually a rail gun team deathmatch kind of guy, so i can't really comment on bombing run or ctf, but deathmatch has outstanding graphics and gameplay. I actually called in sick to work the day after I got this game so i could stay home and play all day.

damn, ut2003 is really cool

I bought this wondering what the hype was all about. The weapons were all lame. This game is nothing compared to its similar games like Counter-Strike or Quake 2.

Cons:
1)Multiplayer offers tremendous lag even on a T3 line and DSL line. I have a Pentium 4 with geforce 2 and great connection and plenty of RAM to burn. This game was so lagged it was no fun to play. Just like Q3 it was unplayable because it lagged so much. It even lagged when I played single player against the computer.

2)The game has super lame weapons.

3)No thought or original game play.

Pros:

1)Great graphics
2)Beautiful maps
