Football with Guns

I started playing the demo, I love it. Bombing runs is a mix of football with a touch of basketball, but you get to shoot and kill the opposition.

Very innovative

Brand new game engine [for 2003], new gameplays [bombing run].
The game is fun, however it drifted away from the Unreal Tournament franchise. There is no assault, there are a lot of Unreal Tournament 1 characters missing and there are no vehicles, as the developers promised.
The game is not worth your money, you are better off purchasing the next title, Unreal Tournament 2004

Don't listen to jcb56678 it is ovious that he is a Quaker... that game is so boring it can't be described in Words! UT was the best multi-player internet game,,, and 2003 just raised it up two more levels. Graphics are a 10, sound 10, gameplay is 10 evrything is improved. Also the people that dont like the weapons now are because they have no skill. You use to get away with some wreckless wild shooting because the blast radius is so big... now they are smaller but the weapons are even more powerfull.. you have to hit what your are aiming at,, no more luck.... oh well no wonder jcb56678 doesn't like this game and has NO SKILL<> COME GET SOME! SEE you in a sever if you have any guts!... what didnt think so

Ok in short. This game is great. The people that don't like it can suck a orange. If you are looking for a great FPS then buy it. No its not UT! Its a new game that is Mod-able. So if you want to change something write a mod. If you want to whine that its not like UT go play UT! I will be on both as well as many other games. WHIPLASH606. L33T this!

The first thing you'll notice is that this game is gorgeous on an adequate system (even a two-year old midrange desktop). Continuing in the UT tradition, the levels are varied, artistic, detailed, and very open, with plenty of options for getting from point A to point B and possibly changing destinations to point C in a hurry when you see three enemies barring your way. The graphics are truly stunning, and the physics engine is amazingly detailed. Unfortunately, you'll probably be seeing a lot of that detail as you crumple amusingly to the ground. Playing against bots or humans, no matter what your skill, you will die frequently. This is not inherently a bad thing, but the reason for it is. UT does have very balanced weapons, as many have noted, but they aren't balanced by strengths and weaknesses so much as they are all nearly equivalent, which when coupled with the frenetic action and crazy pace of the game removes any semblance of strategy, even from modes such as CTF. Because most weapons have similar damage rates, accuracy, and range, and because actual cover is rare, gameplay consists of running wildly around the map, shooting everything that moves with whatever weapon is at hand and hoping to avoid the fate you are trying to inflict on everyone else. This happens also to be why the bots are so fantastically good on high levels - it is not that the AI is particularly smart, as demonstrated by the unvarying tactics it uses, but rather that the AI, being computer-controlled, has perfect reflexes, unfailing aim (not that it cannot be dodged, but it can shoot wherever it intends to even while dodging frantically itself, whereas you are limited to your own ability to follow and react to what you see on the screen), and perfect situational awareness. It is possible to acquire some skill at the game, but this skill is purely in reflexes.

That said, if you are looking for a simple frag-fest, a chance to blow up stuff while letting your brain relax, this is a great game for you. But if you want to play a good shooter that also has a modicum of tactical challenge, that lets you exploit your strengths and seek out an enemy's weaknesses, or a game with team play in which coordination, planning and cooperation actually count for something, look elsewhere. If, like so many FPS fans, you enjoyed these features of HALO (or CounterStrike, or Battlefield 1942, or . . .), you will find this game oddly lacking, even if you loved the original UT, as I did. (Although i find that I still like the old UT, albeit somewhat less than when i originally played it.)

UT Rocks. UT 2003 Rocks a little less

With Linux support right out of the box, UT 2003 really rocks. Now, if it only were as fast and as fun to use (violent?) as UT was/is... I guess that I will use my copy of UT 2003 to play when I'm so tired of playing UT... To play it resonably fast, one has to turn off a lot of dynamic settings and lower bit-depth and resolution. With UT I could play at full 32bit mode and 1280x1024 with my system; with UT 2003 if I do that the games becomes so [bad] that it's not even fun to see it. And after turning off most of the dynamic lighting/decals, etc... then it goes a little faster, but then what's the point? I have a pretty fast system and a lot of memory, so that's not the issue... In any case, I do like the game, just not as much as UT...

I've played UT for quite a while and it's still a thriller for me. When my friend told me to download UT 2003, I was ready and waiting to begin the slaughter. With the opening Nvidia logo being kicked out and seeing that guy with the rocket launcher, I knew I was in for a treat. When the menu came up and the music played, I was instantly hooked. The music alone had me wanting to play the game. I would take about fifteen minutes to listen to the menu music at full blast before I was ready to blow my enemies to a smoking mass of flesh. Thankfully, I had bought my Geforce 4 TI 4200 about a month before and my DSL was up and running, so I could enjoy everything the game developers had to offer to my eye's pallet. In just a few days of playing, I can never play it just once. The weapons are just sick, yet original. I couldn't wait to use the mini-nuke. Nothin like watchin your enemy run from the remote-controlled missile. This game is definitely worth your money. I recommend this game to all who enjoy UT. The music keeps my heart racing and CTF definitely gives me a heart attack, or almost. The gameplay is fast-paced, so be prepared. Some may say the announcer voice is lame, but I find it a must for the game to maintain its feel of an arena deathmatch. Just think of watching a pro sport without the announcer(s). It's be pretty lame without them. Nothing like knowing your team scored!!

The best First-Person Shooter out to this date!

Just wanted to say that I love this game, and that is has to be one of the best games out now. The online gaming part of it is even better. You will have to have an internet connection to really experience the game to its fullest in my opinion.

Enjoy the silence....as long as you can!

German law is forcing me to get "UT2003" shipped from overseas. Anyway, I'm sure that it's worth to do this, in order to be able to see a full piece of art whithout missing the ideas and the creative work of many talented artists.

Since the original "UT" shook me up emotionally in every way (graphics, sound, balanced gameplay, inner logic), i can't wait to explore how the developers have re-invented the simple idea of "hide and seek".

It's amazing how a single game-release can make hundreds and thousands of pc-gamers conversating about it without even knowing the final result. It's no secret: I am ONE of the gamers, who expect the developers to do have done their work properly one more time! But this time I'm trusting in their words: The fact, that the game-release has been delayed several times is no mismanagement at all! It simply is a a proof for the heart and the soul, the hole staff has put into the game so far. They really want to call it a "legal sequel" and this means hard work that is followed up by several testings in a consequence.

Everyone who thinks that playing a "beta-version" of the game is "cool" or justified, simply because of the fact that he liked "UT", should read the statement of Mark Rein (Epic-Biz). Some true words are spoken here!!

For me, it's quite hard to go on working "day in and day out", but I defintely will wait "until it's done"! Everyone, who has read my thoghts so far should know that I pre-ordered UT2003 today because I'm looking forward to see the postman, having no idea of the fact that he's delivering a sequel of a "already-classic"-phenomenon!
