This game is a cross between "Pro" wrestling, and an online thug trainer. It's packed with cursing voices, tinged with an ebonic accent, blood, and gender confused female figures. It plays like the headlines..."Semi-literate, afri-cultural hooligans shoot each other.."
Just what America needs..
Avoid at all costs

I've been a big fan of the original Unreal Tournament since I bought it, and I wanted to get this one when it came out but I knew my computer wouldn't be able to handle it. But now, i just bought myself a new computer and Unreal Tournament 2003 was the first new game I bought for it. I can run it at max everything on my system (3.0 GHz Pentium 4 Processor, 1024 mb RAM, 128 mb RADEON 9800 Pro Graphics Card) and the graphics are just stunning.
The way the bodies move when you kill someone is extremely realistic. There are some Bombing Run levels where your goal is suspended above a pit with obstacles on the way down, and I often spend some time during the game just jumping into the pit to watch myself die. Very cool.
The gameplay is very fast paced and intense. There's no Assault more anymore, but there is the new Bombing Run mode which is very addictive, and there are also tons more gametypes available for download. There aren't really any new weapons, but the old ones are awesome in this game, especially the flak cannon.
All in all I think this game is better than the original UT. Very addictive single and multi-player experience.
Sounds Effects Not Nearly As Good As Unreal Tournament

When Unreal Tournament came out a few years ago, I was amazed not only by the graphics and smooth gameplay, but also by the sounds effects. The sounds were so good, they made your spine tingle. So clear, so loud, and so well defined. When you fired a weapon, you knew it was going to sound good and rock the walls of your room.
The same cannot be said for Unreal Tournament 2003. The weapons sound downright bland and boring. It is amazing that the game's developers would allow such a game to be released knowing that it's sounds are not nearly as good as its previous release.
The only hope for UT2003 in terms of sound quality is if a sound upgrade pack is offered for it as a free download.

Im a big big fan of first person shooters. When i first played the first unreal tournament i was amzaed wiht it and i couldnt stop playing it. htne it heardd unreal tournament 2003 is coming out and i was so happy and couldnt wait to gte it. the only problem is i had to wait 3 months or something. So i got a demo of it off somewhere. When i was playing it i fainted. Even before i played the game...just the menu and the little intro looked AMAZING! When i started playing i was in shock. The graphics are so amazing that its un real....well the game is called unreal :}. Then guns and the gameplay and the voices are amazing as well. Theres only one problem..but it isnt big enough to give this game 4 stars. the problem is, is that if u dont have a geforce 3 (like i do :}) thenn your not gonna see how good the graphics can be. But even if this game had really bad graphics, i how still get it becuase of its game play. Now, after reading this,go to a store....quickly, and buy this game!

Wazs Up?
Don't believe the negative people out there. If you liked Unreal Tournament...You'll be blown away by Unreal Tournament 2003! Yes it's different but WAY COOLER! Sure where there is change people are always in denial...but give it a few months and even those who say the old is better than the new will change there tone!
Anyways I can't believe the graphics! I have a Radeon 8500LE video card and have all the graphic options turn on and my resolution set to 1024X768 85Hz and let me tell you this sucker flies! And wow the eye candy is out of the world. You will want to get this game for the graphics alone.
The sounds...AMAZING.... Great tunes and awesome effects. What more could you want!
Hell my 4 year old son never liked first person games but ever since I let him play this game using Team DeathMatch he can't stop playing it. He likes it because he has "buddies" helping him out. And GORE?? Yeah buts its a video game. He understands that and I have everything crankin. You know what he is still the most normal polite boy you will ever meet. I think he's gaining more confidence and eye/hand cordination every day. So I let him play it as much as he wants.
Anyways you got to get this GAME.. Its FREAKIN AWESOME DUDE!

The original unreal tournament is the very definition of fun. It was interesting, and I could play the demo for hours without becoming bored. The game remained interesting with cool characters, maps, and weapons. Then they released new maps, mods(relics in particular), and assault mode. That game was a success.
Unreal Tournament 2003 changes the original into a lame game. There are all new guns, and worst of all... There are uninspired new maps. The new 2-fort is a sand like level that doesn't have the same feeling. The other maps just don't have anything to be talked about. The all new guns I mentioned? Crap. They all blow except the redeemer. The new sniper rifle(lighting gun!) is retarded. The new pistol is pretty stupid. There's also a gun now which instead of doing damage, it pushes the opponent. This is rather useless in pretty much any situation. If you are on the top of a tower it is good, but that is rare.
Get the original Unreal Tournament or Unreal Tournament 2004. They both rock, and this game can just be skipped.

I have never played Counter Strick but I have heard that it is more of a team based first person shoter. This game is great but it is more of a rush in and kill as many guys before you get killed. Also, after you die you can just come back. So it is really what you would rather expiernce. If I were you though, I would either wait until Unreal II or Counter Strick Condition Zero comes out. Bother look even better than this game.

Simply, this is an amazing game. It has all the goodness of the orginal and a whole lot more. It has great graphics, better weapsons, skins, maps. Nothing more fun than watching 3 missiles spiraling at ur friend and watching him blow apart. Nothing better than the announcers voice screaming "HeadShot" when u blow someones skull off their shoulders with the lightning gun.
Good play but certain not Unreal play.

Unreal 2003 kicks butt. It's fun and looks fabulous and the online play is superb, however because of the framerate issue(s) I've got to knock this one back one star. If the video on this game was as solid like the classic game or like Quake III I'd have to give this one a five star rating.
Do Graphics Make A Game?

Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to a fabulous game, Unreal Tournament. Unfortunately, Unreal Tournament isn't as ground-breaking and as great as its predecessor, but it is still a good game. Epic Games/Infoframes decided to take a sports approach to the revived version of Unreal Tournament which made me skeptical about the game initially. As I predicted, this new approach was its downfall.
First, let us discuss the graphics and physics. Quite frankly, they are stunning. The Unreal engine is most definitely the best graphics engine out there, and delivers the best graphics I've seen. The physics are also great. The damage modeling kits are almost perfected, as arms fly off when hit there. A blast from a flak cannon will leave just a torso, which is satisfying to blood-thirsty gamers like myself. Bodies will bounce on the ground when dead, which gives a realistic feel as opposed to the bodies being stiff as a board.
The sound is one of the worst aspects of the game. Since the game is taking a sports approach, there is an in-game announcer. After the first few battles, he annoyed me so much, I was forced to off the sound, and play some of my music. Also, when a teammate tries to send you a voice message, its hard to tell who it was from. This is because of the sloppy game interface (or HUD). Nothing is labeled, and it takes a while to get used to it.
The game is pretty much squad-based deathmatch, so you aren't expecting revolutionary gameplay, but after beating the single-player game in (and I'm not kidding) in just 3 hours, you are left with somewhat monotonous skirmishes/multiplayer modes. Despite its shallow gameplay and other problems, it (for some reason) is a good game, and satisfied me.
