This game is a copy of Gran Turismo on the PS2, however, be thanksful Microsoft created it. Compared to Gran Turismo 4, this game feels more real and cars react more realistically. It also has car damage. However, the PS2's GT4 has better graphics, more cars, and a rally series. The rally series in GT4 is almost a game by itself and the best rally experience out there. Having said that, GT4 is better because of the rally, but Forza isn't far behind and lets you play online and customize cars more than in GT4. This game is jewel and the best experience for the xBox.

This purchase is to replace the first Forza my son had, we wore it out! At first I thought, what a waste of time it is to play these silly games. Soon, I found myself addicted. Forza is a fantastic game, it is well thouht out to the finest detail. Each car drives differently than the others. The handling characteristics can be changed by altering suspension components and angles. Power can be increased by adding parts as one would with a real car. Most impressive is the actual driving. Some cars oversteer, some under. Forza has a large variety of real world tracks to race on. The tracks are real, the turns feel and look real. I think my son learned to drive "playing" Forza and for myself, my love of cars was rekindled.
This isn't Grand Turismo for sure!

Graphics are OK, the "feel" isn't nearly as good as many racing games I've played. I often found myself braking too late. Who knows, maybe this game is more realistic than most, but it sure doesn't feel like it.
Excellent Racing Game

Microsoft has finally released something to compete with the current heavy weight champion "Gran Turismo" and they have done a very good job with it. The tracks are diverse, well replicated, and very realistic. The cars represent many different brands and several eras of cars, anyone will find something they like in here. The tuning is incredible, you can do everthing from changing the spoiler, adding a rollcage, buying a new exhaust, new ECU anything! Then what makes it even better is you can then go into the tune menu and adjust everything, if you know what you are doing you can perfect a car for certain tracks. The gameplay is pretty good, some of the races can be frustrating because they are hard to beat, but that only adds to the fun of getting good at it. The menus do a good job of organizing tons of information into very intuitive and usable categories. It is somewhat difficult to progress through the game and unlock cars but not too hard. The driving physics are very realistic and take some getting used to with a game-controller, the learning curve is probably about an hour, and then you can never stop getting better with practice. I reccomend this to anyone who is moderately serious about racing games and wants a challenge, it may be too challenging and frustrating for the younger ones
A definite contender against Gran Turismo.

This game surprised me in how good it is, especially considering its the first in the series. It has a lot of cars, and some brands that Gran Turismo couldn't get its hands on. For some reason the cars look strange at first, and I just can't figure out why, but you get used to it. The customization is great. The physics and controls feel pretty good as well. The various sound effects are all well done. There is a wide variety of tracks, some real and some made up.My main gripe besides the cars seeming weird is that the game is incredibly easy compared to Gran Turismo. If you're a fan of racing games you should give this a shot.

I agree with all the rave reviews for this product. The one thing that is a must, in my opinion, is having a racing wheel to use with this game. The early stages are fine without one, but once you get in high competitive races near the end (single player) then the quirky thumbstick just doesn't hack it with jerky movement on corners.

I bought this game the day it was released for the Xbox, and I loved it. At some point, I got rid of my Xbox and all of my games and moved along to the Xbox 360. Now that I have the 360, I bought Forza again. This time, I got it for only $8, the best deal I've ever received on a videogame. I have owned just about every racing sim out there for consoles (every game in the Gran Turismo series, every Project Gotham Racing game, TOCA Driver, etc.). After playing all of these games, the first Forza still stands out as my favorite.
The graphics are good, not great. When under shade, the cars look kind of dull without much texture. However, when under light, the cars look great. The environments of the courses are really great, especially for an Xbox title. After owning Project Gotham Racing 3 for the Xbox 360, I am pleased with the graphics of Forza. PGR3 wasn't the most impressive looking game on the 360, and Forza isn't far behind. Remember, this is a title that was launched a couple of years ago on the original Xbox.
Graphics rating (out of 10): 7
The audio in the game is great, as far as car sounds are concerned. The music is not good, just like most driving games. The music consists of more techno-pop music that does nothing to increase enjoyability of the experience. In fact, I turn the music off completely. The car sounds, however, sound great. A Corvette sounds exactly as it does in real life, and a Mustang sounds exactly as it does in real life. Every car has its own individual sound, and they're all great. Plus, the sounds will change depending on what upgrades you make to the cars. If you place a larger engine into a car, or replace the exhaust with a new system, you'll know it.
Audio rating (out of 10): 8
The controls are great, the best of any racing game I've played. Each car has its own feel. The Enzo grips the road tightly as you speed around a corner at 120 mph, and a '70 Camaro slips all over the place when trying to make the same turn at 120 mph. Watch for understeer and oversteer too, they are present. The difference between a GTR car and a D class car is drastic. There's not much more to say other than Forza has the best controls of any driving game I've ever played.
Control rating (out of 10): 10
Fun factor is the most important aspect of any game. If a game isn't fun, you won't play it. Forza is for a specialized group of race fans. If you prefer the arcade style that the Need for Speed series delivers, you won't like Forza. Forza is a pure sim, that is extremely fun. The choices of customization are great. You can customize just about any part of your car from bumpers, to spoilers, to paint color, to window tint, to decals, to engine, to intercooler, etc. If the car has a part, you can most likely customize it. Don't forget the fact that there is car damage in this game. That's one aspect that I love over the Gran Turismo series. In Gran Turismo, you can slam into an opponent at 200 mph and bounce right off into a sharp turn. You can't do that in Forza. Not only is there damage in the appearance of your car, but the damage affects how your car handles. If your front bumper is hanging off of one side, your car will pull to that side. Also, there is tire wear, suspension damage, engine damage, and a few others. This isn't Burnout by any means, but the damage is realistic enough to make a difference in how you drive. Excellent fun factor with this game. After playing next-gen racing games, I still prefer this one over any of them.
Fun factor rating (out of 10): 10
I bought this game to hold me over until the new Forza for the 360 is released on May 29. I am happy that I once again made the decision to purchase it. This experience will definitely hold me over until the new one comes out.
Overall score (out of 10): 9
Great for all styles of driving.

If you like drifting, adjust your settings, and you can. If you just like to customize cars, you can do that. This is an amazing game, and for the price...just buy it.
Nice, but Gran Turismo or Project Gotham 3 is better.

Forza is a decent game but I can't help but compare it to Gran Turismo 3 for PS2 or Project Gotham 3 for xbox 360. Mainly because of the fact that it doesn't have an inside (cockpit) view. I hope Forza 2 coming out for the 360 will have this option. For a true simulator, like what Forza claims to be, an inside view is essential. It's just not realistic seeing only the road in front of you.
NOTE: I'm playing Forza which was originally developed for regular Xbox on an Xbox 360 console. I was able to download an update as soon as I loaded the game, but there are still glitches. Mainly the car's sound that I'm driving dissappears (but not the other cars) on most of the harder tracks. This is rather annoying as I rely a lot on the sound of my engine when I'm racing.
