I'll tell you what I hated first. You dont have access to all cars in the game. You have to progress deeper and deeper and unlock cars. It doesn't matter if you have 57million bucks in your account, you still cant buy the cars you really want until you progress further. 2nd, I hated the difficulty settings. I would play some races on easy and destroy the competition and then I'd play a different race on easy and get my buttocks whipped seriously. EASY is EASY. It shouldn't matter. 3rd, the races were too long for my attention span. I would be doing fine in a race and then 10 minutes in I would screw up and have to start all over. That pissed me off. Okay, there's some good in here somwhere. The cars look pretty good and sound awesome. When you upgrade your engine the sound changes. The turbo sounds on this game are the best I've heard. You can actually hear the turbo sucking in air, not just the blow-off valve like most games. But all that wont matter if a game isn't fun to play. This game is not exhilarating and you won't be rushing home to play it. Rent this one before you buy it.
A real beauty!!!

I loved GT3 on the PS2. THe realness was fantastic, but it suffered one problem, after a while it just wasnt fun! As great and realistic as the game is it just wasnt as fun as Need for Speed - Hot Pursuit. Now comes Forza... hands down the BEST racing game I have played period! Adds the realism of Grand Tourismo with the fun factor of Need For Speed Underground.
It's great that Forza has the option of using the left stick for periferral vision too.... but I wished it was smoother looking all the way around the car like you see when looking to the front right and left corners rather then the straight cuts you see when looking back and to the back corners.
All in all a great racing game!
The best (cliche, but best way to sum it up)

I myself am not too big into the racing genre. The only other racing game I like is the burnout series. I got this game when I bough my Xbox as the new package deal for 180$. Like always, I give every game a chance, If I can't help it. Im glad I did. the game has gread car physics and feel, Fantastic Xbox live, Great costomization to put in you car, not to hard or easy, plenty of cars to choose from, and just outstanding. This game of cource was made to be a Gran Turismo killer, and It worked. the game has a line on the road to help you to find a strategic position on the track, and tells you when you should slow down, or speed up. Credits are easy to obtain to buy new cars, and costomize them. There are so many cars to choose from to buy, I almost soild myself. It even has a Buick Regal GNX to buy which is a great, under rated car. I am glad that they put it in because I love the car in real life. hopfuly this game will make more people know that before Buick went into the Granny car nitch, they made some nice cars. You can dramaticaly upgrade ANY car to make it WAY faster, and its easy to do. The soundtrack isn't all that great, but I just loaded up some Motley Crue, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Metallica so It works out. This game also has a few Muscle cars from the late 60's early 70's to add to it. I just wish ther were more, not just a Challenger, GTO,and 2 Camaros. O yeah it also has the king of all cars made in the mid 60s, the 427 1965 Shelby Cobra. I know, my pants became 5 shades darker when I found this out too. you can change the color of your car to any color you want, even the color schems that change color when you move around it. plus you can add decals to your ride. thats cool, but I only do it with some cars, like if I HAVE to have some asian rice grinder for a race or too. Then I cover the car with decals as a joke to show that I really dont like ricers. I could go on and on, but then You would eventually slam your head into your desk rapidly if you dumb enough to read a 1,000 line review. so pick this up, you wont regret it.
One of the best driving titles for the xbox

I've played a number of driving games on the xbox--Project Gotham Racing, Sega GT 2002, Rallysport Offroad Challenge, Test Drive--Forza blows the doors off them all when it comes to being a good driving simulator.
And that's what this game is: a driving simulator. Just watch a replay and watch all the telemetry data that the big black box is crunching away on during a race. Considering just the tires alone, you've got tire pressure, tire wear, tire temperature, tire camber, coefficient of friction, and weight distribution--and I've probably missed stuff!
Forza is as close as you're going to get when it comes to the realism of driving the over 200 cars available in this game.
Those people looking for a game where you can win a race by ramming an opponent off the road or using a wall as a means of decelerating or turning will be frustrated by Forza. It's all about having a gentle touch, subtle controls, and knowing your car and the course--like real driving/racing. Racing isn't supposed to be a demolition derby (despite the reason we all watch NASCAR).
It's refreshing to drive on realistic courses that don't have giant flashing ">>>>>" arrows along the walls.
The only disappointing part of the game: I was really hoping they'd have a Porsche 914 in it. :) If Microsoft does downloadable content for new cars and gets a 914, I'd buy a subscription to Live for just that. (Hint, hint!)
A minor flaw

This game finished my aging x-box dvd drive. After replacing the dvd-rom drive things went a bit more smoothly, that is, it finally boots the game!
Okay, this is supposed to be a simulator. The ultimate re-creation of a driving environment on a game platform, it's all about realistic performance driving right? So, why is there no view from inside of the cars? When getting around a track is this realistic, and it certainly has convinced me as to the accuracy of their modeling, you cannot rely on standard game habits. Being able to view the track in a realistic manner should have been just as much a priority as all the rest of the coding.
At first I thought they did something right when I saw that the look control could be assigned to the right joystick. I am used to that kind of feature in Halo and I know I could use it to full advantage with an automatic transmission. Very dissapointing to find myself unable to look at where a corner is going to take me, you only have four directions to see with!
The only strategy is to seriously memorize the track because you're going blind into the corners. If it's just a straight stretch after the corner, fine. But if there's an even-tighter turn immediately after that one, you will find yourself sliding off the track and losing your position.
The only view-points available are: 1, on the bumper(totally blind if a car is in front of you), 2, below the bumper(still can't see if a corner is coming if a car is in front, and if the track goes over a rise you can't see down the rise untill you crest it) 3, behind the car close( so now you can look over all the cars in front) 4, behind your car a bit further back( a better view to the sides).
This view thing would suggest that this game will be great for those who just want to watch their car sparkle in the sun as it glides around a fun course. Just remember to keep an eye on the speedometer so you don't overshoot a corner!
At least there is a very useful training aid in the form of a set of green arrows on the ground that you should follow. When they turn yellow let off the gas. Red means hit the brakes. The arrows can be turned off to get more points.
Everything else about the game is just as the advertising would have you think. I just wish there was a dash view, and a Halo style free-roaming look control.
well...

I do say it beats the grand turismo series but.... The graphics arent better then the grand turismos but the cars look good on it. You have a good ammount of cars to choose from and completing every track takes a very long time. The tools to upgrade your car are limmited and all you have to do is buy the most expensive thing out of maybe 5 things you get to upgrade. Getting money on it is far too easy so you can easily top your car and cream the rest of the racer in single player but sometimes your car looks so good you change the angle to hit in in the sunlight just right that you crash right into the side. I like how they used arrows on the stree to tell you when to slow and if your going too fast for the turn and the idea of training a comp to race your car is pretty cool. The game is fun and im in no way a racing fan but this game is pretty cool but it gets annoying racing the same tracks over and over.
Disappointed, especially after all the glowing reviews

I bought this games after reading excellent reviews on Amazon.com and other places. Never have I felt so disconnected from - and disappointed by - most of the reviews.
I have played many racing games on the PS2, PC and the Xbox, including Gotham Racing 1 and 2, GT2, GT3, GT4, etc., and I really feel that this is NOT the best racing game ever, not even close. I highly recommend anyone considering this game to rent it first and decide for himself/herself instead of trusting all those glowing reviews.
The biggest problem with Forza is that it is not very immersive, due to flaws in visual and tactile feedback. Specifically
1) No tactile or visual feedback from dips and bumps in the road, especially during braking, so the sensation of speed is extremely lacking. In GT4, traveling at high speeds on many of the roads will shake the controller and the screen noticeably, especially on short wheelbase cars like the Lotus Elise. Also, in GT4, the screen tilts when one side of your car gets on a curb, dips when you brake, and lifts when you accelerate.
2) Although scenery and cars are very detailed, the lighting and reflections on the cars are not, making the cars look highly unrealistic. In GT4, the reflections on the cars and their glass windows are so good that you can get a good sense of the curvature of the car bodies and windows, which, together with the excellent details of the cars, make them look extremely realistic.
In short, I am really disappointed with this "driving simulator". If I could do it over again I would not buy this game.

I really thought I could be unbiased here in this review, but after playing this game for awhile, I just can't.
So let's just get down to the facts.
1. Superior graphics
2. Superior music
3. Superior car selection
4. Superior game
As of now, there is no comparison to other racing sims out there. This is another sole reason to own the Xbox over the PS2. Hey Sony, after about 3 realeses of GT, don't you think you should add damage? Do you not know that if you run your Audi TT into a wall at 100+ mph your car will sustain damage? How can you claim to have the best racing sim on the market and not consider the most basic of elements? I'm confused...
I can only imagine whtat this gem looks like in HDTV, but for now, I will enjoy the graphics on my regular TV.
If you like racing and you own an Xbox this is a must have game.

Awesome Game! Here's a CHEAT for unlimited cash. Ok here goes this cheat is a little hard to explain but I'll do my best. To get unlimited cash$$. First you'll have to have a little money to start with or credits is what there called in the game. First buy the JETTA VR6 and go to the (ENGINE UPGRADE) section and buy (ALL) of the upgrades in every section & every slot,BUT DO NOT BUY THE NEW SWAP ENGINE YET,its the upgrade section with the turbo,intercooler,supercharger,etc.etc. Say for example in the turbo section BUY every turbo stage in every slot & ALSO buy every supercharger and its stages,& all of the exaust upgrades every slot & all of the other upgrades in EVERY SLOT in the ENGINE UPGRADE section,ok you got it. Now go buy the NEW SWAP ENGINE ,it should be about $2500. Now Re-equip your old engine. Now go sell the NEW SWAP ENGINE ,you'll see it will now be over $40,000. Just keep repeating this one step over & over for an unlimited amount of CASH/CREDITS.... NOTE: YOU ONLY HAVE TO BUY (ALL) THE ENGINE UPGRADE PARTS ONE TIME FOR YOUR STOCK ENGINE YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPEAT THAT STEP. Also note that when you buy the new engine it automaticly will equip into your car ,just re-equip your old engine then sell the new one it will jump to over $40,000. So basicly you just buy the new engine for $2500 then re-equip your old engine then sell the same new engine that you just bought for $2500 it will now be over $40,000. REPEAT THIS OVER & OVER TO GET AN UNLIMTED AMOUNT OF CASH.
Awesome Game!
