I hadn't purchased a racer type game since GT2 came out for the Playstation but after reading all the details about this game I decided to pickup a copy and I haven't been disappointed at all!! Unfortunately I don't have a high-speed connection so I'm not able to play over Xbox Live so my comments refer only to the offline mode. The cars in the game look incredible driving around the track and you can even see the driver inside the car turn the wheel when you do and even shift gears. I haven't seen this attention to detail in other games of this type. The cars handle very realistically and you can tell a difference when driving after making modifications or upgrades to the car. The tracks are fun to race on and the AI is the best I've seen for a racer. The AI cars will try and "tag" you if you're in their line and will try and avoid you attempting to do the same to them. Its almost like racing against other human drivers. The graphics are the best I've seen with exception to GT4 which looks slightly better. Another nice aspect is the different difficulty settings. You don't just choose Easy, Medium or Hard but also driver assisted options such as ABS, Traction Control, Body roll(don't remember the exact name) can be turned off to increase the difficulty (increase difficulty means earning a higher percentage of credits when you finish a race). Another nice feature is your given a "driving line" you can follow around the track that shows you when to give it the gas, let up or apply the brakes which is very helpful for learning the ways to handle different turns and curves (you can also disable this feature to increase the difficulty and earn more credits per race). I've read playing on Xbox Live is a blast and hopefully I can get a high-speed connection soon so I can sign up. I highly recommend this game.
The best racer out right now

Not much else to say that hasn't been said really. Except, this is a deep game for the men and not for the simple minded little boys who will come up with self-made excuses about flaws in the game, when they won't admit they are just crap at it, don't have patience and don't understand real life physics of racing. If you like games that are easy and are requiring you to just tap left or right with accelerator eased off, the type of games aimed at mindless drones, this is not for you!. This game tests your patience while you learn and rewards you well. The best being, when you get later into the game and understand the handling more, you can tear up tracks with the most powerful machines around. It can put little boys off and they will dismiss it claiming it's not perfect, when they really mean, they are useless themselves, have no patience and it's too much for their brains to handle. This game completely smashes GT4 in every way, and even though GT4 has more cars, most of the others are exact replicas but different editions with special paint jobs, so really, there isn't that many cars. Even if it had 1000 cars, it wouldn't mean anything, because they would most handle like eachother with not much difference with weakly done watered down car and track physics. This game is deep, it's got everything you could want, designing your cars appearance, adjusting, tuning, training a drivatar, earning cars out of the 200+ choice which really do have their own unique handling, if you don't like the music you can use your custom soundtracks, test out your performance after tuning and adjusting to perfectly tweak your car. Its got lots!, if you ever liked GT, sony have stuck to the same and only moved one step every release since started, but this has come in 10 steps ahead for its debut. And only this should be able to be called ''The REAL driving simulator''. Simpletons and youngsters would be quick to shrug this off, as its not for them, it's too brain taxing and their life is easy so why make things harder, they need to stick to the arcade racers which is normally the easier and first choice for them. But, accept that this is a great game and too deep for you right now, maybe in the future you will say to people ''yeah forza 2 was excellent!'', but don't give it a bad review over self-retardedness. And, NO I AM NOT A MEMBER OF THE FORZA TEAM IN ANY WAY. I genuinely LOVE this game and I advise all serious and mature people, whether you like cars a little, or love racing to get this! its excellent! be smart like these people here and just buy it, no question! Peace!
A complete and unexpected disappointment compared to GT4

I cannot believe what a hunk of junk this game is compared to GT4. My level of disappointment far exceeds the whopping $50 I spent of this game. Let's be specific. Here are quantitatively some of deficiences of this game compared to GT4:
1) Engine sound is absolutely muted and unrealistic. A porsche and a Ferrari sounds remarkably similar. I have no good sense of how fast I'm going by the engine revs, unlike GT4 where I can clearly hear the demarcation of when the engine is approaching the redline
2) The car visuals are completely 2-dimensional. One of the greatest innovations in GT4 is the car dipping that occurs when you slam on the breaks. This really gives you a wonderful sense of how fast you are going on a track and how hard you are breaking. I get none that with this piece of crap Forza game.
3) The road texture in Forza is completely non-distinguishing as a function of speed. In GT4 the road texture becomes rich and more detailed when you're at slow speeds, and becomes more blurred and smoothened out at the higher speeds. Just like R.E.A.L.I.T.Y. Again, this gives you a wonderful sense of how fast you're going. In Forza the texture is pretty much the same no matter how fast you're going... so again, you have no feel for how fast the car is going.
4) The gravel in Forza is ridiculously unrealistic. When you hit the gravel sections your speed drops ridiculously abruptly... which makes no sense. Also, in GT4, when you hit the gravel, your car bounces around like your traveling over... gravel! There is none of that bumpiness in Forza
5) The scenary in Forza, although better detail than GT4, looks completely CARTOONISH. Looks like something out of a Japanese animation movie. There is absolutely no sense of being immersed in a real environment, like in GT4.
6) The controller feedback vibrations in Forza is, for one nearly non-existent. Going over a candy-cane is about the same as getting into the gravel areas. In GT4, the feedback when you hit the canes is so in tune with the visual feedback of "bumpiness" and the auditory feedback of tires running over those canes. Forza has none of that, again, giving you no sense of speed, excess of speed and a general feeling of how the car is handling the road.
Overall, even without the GT4 comparisons, this was a highly unsatisfying and unenjoyable experience. After a number of hours playing this game, not only did I find myself not ever wanting to master any of the tracks, I found myself never wanting to drive any of these tracks nor any of the cars again. When I fired up my PS2 and ran GT4, I can't describe in words the exhilaration I felt when my passion and interest for driving simulation games was instanteously restored...
Save your money and your frustation. Pass on Forza, and get yourself GT4.

What a great game this is. It has so many features that are great but a few need to be mentioned. One is the Online experience. The ability to buy, sell and trade your cars with other Xbox Live members really sets this game apart. Also, you can race in your career mode on Xbox Live against other players to unlock cars, parts, and to win cash!! The other is the ability to give your car it's own custom look by using dozens upon dozens of layers and decals and then taking that custom paint job to show off Online. That feature alone will provide you with hours of fun.

Forza Motorsport is a stylish and challenging game that is easily one of the best racers on the Xbox, if not the best. There are more than 230 cars from 60 manufacturers and a track list that, if not extensive, at least features a nice mix of tight street courses, real race tracks from all over the world, and challenging fictional environments. If you don't have the slightest clue about entry points into turns or when to step on the brakes, Forza has a handy "suggested line" feature that is one of the slickest innovations in racing games to come along in a long time.
Forza places a huge emphasis on every car's individuality through features such as the rarity rating and powerful customization tools, which let you paint your car and/or add a massive number of vinyls and decals, creating, with a little patience, a car that will be unique and unlike any others. That individuality can be further celebrated by pitting your car against other players' cars online. The fun doesn't stop there, however, as Forza also lets you buy and sell cars in online trading sessions with friends and strangers alike. By setting up a "buy and sell" session, you can browse the collections of up to eight other players who agree to enter the lobby with you.
Forza may well be remembered as a title that, through its mix of challenge and control, introduced an entirely new set of fans to the beauty and power of driving games.

I played the demo for Forza, and am sure like many i was not overly impressed with yet ANOTHER racing game. We all know that Polyphony Gran Turismo series was the king of the simulators and all others were usually just warmed over leftovers. Yes there have been some standouts but we always return to the series where it all started. Now with Xbox's Forza Motorsports that reign that GT has held seems a little less clear then it did 6 months ago.
Microsoft has raised the bar to an impressive level with this incredible game. The arcade and career modes are rich, and challenging yet did not seem impossible to the casual gamer such as myself. The car models seem well defined and each one handles a little bit different so you can fall in love with your first choice and then later on experiment with cars from different regions. In Forza we get to finally race Ferraris and Porsches both of which are sadly missing from all of the GT series of games, and also we finally get to see these pristine rides bashed to hell by overzealous use of the accelerator, and forgetting what brake markers are really for. Yes the damage engine for the game is wonderful, and also selectable which means yes you can have the damage OFF if you want to play nascar or you can click it to maximum SIMULATION and watch as your car developes an annoying list after knocking into a tire barrier. Damage will effect everything on the car from handling, acceleration, and top speed so treat these babies like you really owned thm or else be doomed to remain in the cloud of dust at the rear of the pack.
On-line play is where the game really shines, and takes on a life all its own. Find the right "room" with the right kind of people, and you can easily waste a whole afternoon (or several) chasing your new found friends around the included tracks, which are all expertly rendered. From New York, Laguna Seca, Rio, to the dreaded twists of Tokyo and beyond, Forza Motorsports gets my vote for Game of The Year!!!! Rent it, Borrow it, or Buy it but if you are a racing fan you MUST try this game out, and see for yourself that there is life after Gran Turismo.

Before I got this game I was racing RallisportS 2 and Project Gotham 2. So I rented this game having heard it was great and I popped it in and I wanted to go get my 7$ back from the video store. But I was stuck with it so I figured I'd see what it is all about.
All of sudden when I started winning a couple races and getting a little acclamated to great vast world this games offers, I was hooked. Hooked real hard. 3 days later I played for abot 18 hours straight.
A few things I love about this game
1. Stunningly beautiful. While driving I just reaffirm to myself how beautiful this game is visually
2. Realistic Car Damage. If you ram into another car to try to knock it off the road so you can pass it, you end up messing your car up so bad that you'll get passed and lose.
3. If you screw up on a turn, you're going to wreck. None of this pull the E-brake junk on this game, you're going into a wall or spinning off into a feild.
Just some things I was thinking about. If you haven't tried this game, do so immediately, and make sure you play it for about 2 hours. That's when I couldn't put it down. It's kind of intimidating at first, but that passes very quickly.

I loved this game I was a huge GT series fan and actually went and got an Xbox because of all the great pics and reviews. Just a few points I didn't like or had issues with.
a. I play 2 player mode alot with my buddy. No rearview mirror, and no instant replay! That was really a bummer, that was some of the most fun with Gran Turismo going through and watching the replay after a good couch race!
b. Tough to gauge the speed your going, I got used to this a bit. But GranTurismo it's easier to tell if your locking up the brakes or just gauging your speed going into corners.
It is an absolutely beautiful game and you will love it!

Ok This review is for the people making comments that this game is reviewed on hype . First off I have played the game for weeks now. Its Incredible. The best racing sim on any console.YOU CAN ADJUST THE BRAKE SENSITIVITY!!!!!!.YOU CAN ADJUST THE CAMBER/TOE !!!!YOU CAN ADJUST THE SUSPENSION !!!!YOU CAN ADJUST DAMPING /REBOUND!!!!YOU CAN ADJUST TIRE PRESSURE!!!YOU CAN ADJUST AERO DOWNFORCE!!YOU CAN ADJUST THE GEAR RATIO!!!THE LIST GOES ON & ON & ON & ON .ALL OF THESE THINGS AFFECT HOW YOUR CAR WILL HANDLE.Im saying this because Im sick & tired of reviewers saying they cannot adjust handling, BRAKING!!!! etc.etc. YOU CAN !!!! 3 LAPS ONLY? HARDLY ,READ ON...THERE ARE ENDURANCE RACES THAT ONCE OPEN UP BY WINNING EVENTS, YOU CAN RACE OVER 30 LAPS ,THAT WILL REQUIRE YOU TO MAKE PIT STOPS & CHANGE TIRES ETC.FORZA IS HANDS DOWN THE MOST IN DEPTH RACING GAME ON ANY CONSOLE . IVE BEEN PLAYING VIDEO GAMES SINCE THE MID 1970'S AND FORZA IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST (RACING SIM) PERIOD. YES YOU CAN ADJUST THE BRAKES ,YES YOU CAN ADJUST HOW YOUR CAR CAN HANDLE. THE HUGE,GIGANTIC,ENORMOUS,VAST,LIST ON CAR ADJUSTMENTS IS ABSOLUTY STUNNING ,THE MOST OF ANY RACING SIM TO DATE. A Real-world NASCAR driver uses an off the shelf video game to help him. ALSO that reviewer named WNEWBERRYR is a semi-pro race car driver who uses this game .That should tell you how In-depth these games are. Especially one like FORZA which uses real-world driving physics ,thats why its harder than other racing games. One could easily rent this game and say BAH I cant make a turn or GEEZ my wheels keep locking up. But if you get past the learning curve its Rewardingly Fun.
Definitely a game for the racing enthusiast!

I found that this game has a lot of realistic qualities that you would look for in a racing game. If you throw in the driving wheel and gas pedels, the feeling of driving an actual car can't be beat. The tracks are well devloped, and challange your driving ability on all levels. Definitely a game you should pick up.
