okay,i was overjoyed at getting the game and i let my brother play first.he was delighted, beutiful colors, tropical music, yoshi and the usual shine(i still call it star)collecting.i have just noticed that mario 64 was more creative.like it had an ice mountain level with a cottage to go in,a desert with a storm in it and 2 pyramids to enter,a vast green plain with a mountain a tunnel and a floating island and a sunken ship with a huge manta ray; all of this and more were in mario 64.and i know the mistake they made.i have the playstation 2 also and the games are short because its on disc ,although gamecube's discs are much longer, they're still short so i think that they would of stuck to the cartridge,at the end it is short but very enjoyable, tjink about it ...a huge town a beach with a huge sandcastle that pops out,an airport and small towns. the scenary is very nice though, like they have huge fishes flying in the air and stuff, but its just like luigis mansion but with a different flavor :)

Why does it seem like everyone is whining and complaining about this game? Theres nothing to complain about. This game is literally flawless. The graphics are amazing, some of the best I've ever seen. The sound is clear, controls easy, and the music is pretty good. This is a very challenging game also, but also very fun.

This is why you bought a GameCube in the first place . . . For your kid, right? If you're an older, experienced gamer, then you're likely on the wrong platform.
I like this game. I play it with my 4 y/o --- We trade off the controls every once in a while. There's plenty to keep him interested, and he loves to replay areas until he can pretty much nail them. The secret levels can be quite a challenge. He can make many of them, but a few are pretty tough.
A kid reviewer in here said it was hard. I can agree with that. Hard if you try and fully complete each level. Many things are very well hidden, and the worlds are big enough that it almost impossible to find everything without the guide. But completing each level? Not too hard.
Here is what I curse every single time I play this game: The camera. I am really good at controlling the camera even as I am doing 50 other things with the controllers, but the camera tends to move on it's own. Since this is a 3D game, it'll pan around a hovering Mario, and in a tight space, it is easy to have the camera move in such a way as to block your view of Mario and you lose the round.
Ehhh well. . . My kid likes it.
Good Game, Addicting

recently purchased this game, at first i was kind of weary playing it because of the whole cleaning story (kind of lame), but the more and more i play it, it reminds me more and more of mario64, the game is quite addicting, the 120shines a good challenge for someone to complete, its a great game for all ages, the water pack is a good add on because of the hovering option, makes things much easier than the usual climbing and walljumps, but if you get this game you will not regret it if you look at it like a continuation of mario64. so if you like the 64 classic you will like sunshine.
A good attempt at trying to bring some change to the series.

Now a lot of people think this game doesn't live up to the Mario name, well I disagree. The platforming and level design aren't the best in the series, but they're not the worst either. In my opinion, the platforming and level design are actually better than most other plat-formers out there. Now, for years the Mario series has been merely running and jumping, but now they tried to throw in something new, a little water cannon backpack. Some may argue that it is annoying to use and detracts from the game-play, but in my opinion if you take the time to get used to it, it ends up adding something new and somewhat refreshing to the mix. If you are desperate to go back to the basics there are a few neat levels with weird visuals and zany music in which you simply try to get through the level in time, and with no water cannon backpack. I thought these were a good addition and mixed it up a bit. The difficulty was pretty hard at times. I know there were some levels that took me a long time to finish. The soundtrack is nothing to get excited about, but I guess its not really bad either. The visuals look pretty good, but some people will argue that its not "realistic" enough, I think that the day Mario starts looking realistic is the day I stop buying Mario games. The water effects in particular are surprisingly good, and the water reacts to your movement. Overall I'd say give it a try, you can probably get it for cheap now anyway.
Another hit for Mario!

This game was a welcome relief from the MarioKart's, and MarioParty's! Woohoo! Another adventure! I relished on the play-ability and even the toughest challenges in the mini-games. Thank you Nintendo, for getting away from the Kart and Party series, serious gamers like the adventures! When you have to save and shut down til the next night, it's a gratifying annoyance to have the game stuck in your mind all day, until you can plug in again, and try all the things you've thought up. What's going to be next for Mario? Please keep the Gamecube games coming, not all of us want a Wii. I don't even have the urge for one, I'd rather sit in my easychair and sip my drink. I'll never move furniture for a game.
Mario's best yet!

I've played, heared, and seen a lot of Mario, but this is the best of all. Beating out Super Mario 64 and Mario Party games easily, and beating out Paper Mario not so easily, this is the best Mario games to date. The sound, graphics, and moves are aweosome, and the storyline is SWEET! YOU MUST GET THIS GAME NOW OR ELSE!

I do not understand anyone who would rate this game badly. This game enthralled me for hours. It was so much fun, that I have played it through two times. The graphics are not as good as Galaxy, of course, but I thought that from the neat worlds down to the music was fantastic. Some of the stars were difficult and frustrating, but I think they were better planned out than the simpler ones found in Galaxy, though Galaxy did have a few hard ones to. This game took me longer than Galaxy, about the same amount of time it took me to beat Mario 64. Galaxy was good, Mario 64 was better, Sunshine was the best. (Don't get me wrong, Galaxy was a lot of fun, but not tops on my list.) It was a lot of fun defending a hotel from a manta ray attack and running along the rooftops of Delfino Plaza, I highly recommend this game.
