Another Amazing Mario Adventure

Super Mario Sunshine really shows effort put into a game, unlike the GCN's starting game, Luigi's Mansion. It was a perplexing game with many interesting (and most certainly different) puzzles. I liked having a new tool, the FLUDD (Flash Liquidizing Overd Dousing Device) on Mario's back. It was very useful during the game, and occasionally it would give you helpful tips, and make snide remarks. Other than the FLUDD, the shines (or the equivalent to Stars in Mario 64) appeared to be much tougher this time around to get. They were virtually everywhere, and you would have to look far and beyond what was in front of you to receive some of them. Also, the concept of the blue coins was a clever idea. They were very tough to get...and it took me weeks to find all 300 of them. Believe it or not, finding even one of them can be a tough task. The last thing that really made the game good was that it had a drastically improved starting area. I liked running and hovering around in (and under) Delfino Plaza rather than running up stairs in Mario's Castle (Mario 64). There were people (in this case, Piantas) to give you advice too, which is nice. Overall, this game really deserves the 5 stars that Nintendo has shown in most Mario games. A MUST add to your collection...even more than Star Fox Adventures (and way more than Luigi's Mansion).

Simply the best

Super Mario Sunshine is simply the best.
The graphics are great (especially the water effects) but nice graphics may be found in any other games. So why is this game better than any other? First of all, it's Mario. I really don't think I need to explain what makes Mario, the Nintendo creation which stood the test of time, so special, and now he's even better with his FLUDD (please read the editorial review for more information on FLUDD). Oh, and Yoshi's back too! Plus the levels are so addictive.
There is only one con in the game: no multiplayer mode. But still it is the best.
I recommend this game to everyone.

Buy this right away!

This is my favorite game in the whole untire universe! Here's some info about it. There are seven main areas and there are 8 episodes for each area. The episodes are tasks to get a shine (a little sun thing with eyes). You only need to complete 7 episodes to get the last area. The 7th episode is a Shadow Mario chase. He's the villin. He spreads graffiti around which Mario has to clean up with a waterpack called F.L.O.O.D. We'll get to FLOOD later in the review. Do you want to know who Shadow Mario is? He is......find out after you complete Episode One on Pinna Park. Now lets find out what FLOOD is. He is a really cool waterpack thing. Lets find out the nozzles.
Squirt nozzle: This nozzle is always attached. You squirt goop and you squirt shadow mario with it. It really comes in handy.
Hover Nozzle: The best nozzle out of the four nozzles. It extends your jump. It's a good way to get out of danger.
Turbo Nozzle: The most unuseful but coolest nozzle in the game. You could break into saloon type doors and get prizes. It's really fun turboing around the ocean. You need unlock this.
Rocket Nozzle: It's a pretty cool nozzle. It shoots you way up into the air. You could get pretty cool shines with it. You need to unlock it.
I hope you buy this! You won't be sorry!

If i really have to tell that this is Mario's best adventure, that you should buy it, and this is the reason to own a Gamecube you must have problems. Mario needed a new 3-D adventure after SM64 and this is the perfect follow-up. Amazing graphics! A fully stylistic look...with the most amazing water effects ever. The music is typical Mario fare and hes got his Hoos! Has! Yipees! and Yahoos! and not to mention how catchy the music can be. Gameplay is unrivaled. The best in a Mario game to date especially since you can finally ride Yoshi again. The only flaw in this game is that dang camera that can lead to some bad situations but the camera is not as bad to a point that makes Mario Sunshine unplayable. And the boss fight was pretty easy but other than those two faults this is an otherwise perfect game that no Gamecube owner should be without.

This game alone is a good reason enough to buy the Nintendo Gamecube. It just keeps getting better.

4 1/2 stars for best Gamecub entry yet

It's challenging and has amazing graphics. That by itself wouldn't make Super Mario Sunshine fun. According to my kids, it is fun. The graphics and rendering make for an interesting distraction by itself but the challenges of beating the giant squid by pulling off it's tentacles (yes, it's cruel and that's part of the appeal I hate to say) or finding the Mario's evil twin make this the most involving of the games issued for Gamecube.

A few tips for parents 1) This is for older yets (starting around tween age or for really advanced little gamers) 2) Buy the book on Super Mariou Sunshine. As a parent you'll appreciate it later when they come to you and can't solve a problem or figure something out. You can help them look it up and reason through why it would work. You can then see them put a plan into action. 3)Make sure you have a memory card (some of the bundles don't come with them)because of the variety of levels. Your kids (or you if you get sucked into it)will want to save various levels. Why? So they can revisit and prove how cool they are and because they can show that accomplishment to their friends. 4) Limit the amount of playing time with every game if you haven't had any in the house before. Otherwise it'll take over your Television and your kid's life. I've explained that my daughter is likely to be frustrated if she can come back to it and solve a problem later. Also, it allows for a variety of other activities.

There are a variety of challenging levels. You as a parent should be prepared to help some of your kids with them. It also allows for more interaction with something other than the television. Super Mario Sunshine comes in handy on rainy days but doesn't act as a substitute for playing in the garage, basement or in the house. Since it's a single player game (at least from what I've observed and participated in)so if you have more than one kid, again, it will be helpful to have a memory card and to take turns.

Limit their time to the game. Trust me on this if you haven't had one in your house before.

Thats about all I have to say, I just picked up the game, and its awesome. Not nearly as easy as some of the previous Mario games, and the graphics are great. If you like platform games at all, you'll love Super Mario Sunshine.

Except the voices are pretty cheezy...

good clean fun

If you don't like to clean, you may want to skip this riotous romp in videogameland. But if you're a neat freak like me (I'm also a virgo), you'll love cleaning up little messes with your trusty companion, FLUDD. I haven't had this much fun with a video game in a long, long time. Go on, get dirty.

SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE IS A VERY DIFFERENT TYPE OF MARIO ADVENTURE. DESPITE WHAT SOME HAVE SAID ABOUT IT BEING TO CLOSE TO MARIO 64. SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE STANDS ON IT'S OWN TWO FEET AS BEING TRULY UNIQUE AND DECIDABLY HAVING IT'S OWN ORIGINALITY THAT PEEKS THROUGH FAMILIAR TERRITORY. WHILE PLAYING THIS GAME MY EYES AND EARS WERE PLEASED. THE GRAPHICS AND SOUND ARE PERFECTION. AND SO FAR THE STORY IS INTERESTING. OF COURSE THE GAMEPLAY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR OVER ALL. VERY EASY TO CONTROL, USER FRIENDLY. YOU DO ALL THE THINGS YOU LOVE TO DO IN A 3D MARIO ADVENTURE. RUN, JUMP, SWIM, FLIP, PICK UP ITEMS, HOVER AND MORE. IF YOU WERE AMONGST THOSE THAT DIDN'T CLICK WITH LUIGI'S MANSION, THIS IS THE GAME YOU WANTED. SCORES: GAMEPLAY(5.0)GRAPHICS(5.0)SOUND(5.0)REPLAY(5.0)STORY(5.0)OVER ALL(5.0)

Mario returns with the power of the cube

Mario, such a popular name in the world of gaming, and he doesn't disappoint in his games, never has probably never will, and this game doesn't disappoint either. If you like Mario 64 you'll love this definate purchase for any 'cube owner. Now, graphics run at a steady 30FPS (Frames Per Second), which isn't bad, and should have been at 60, but it isn't what the critics wanted, trust me this game does not look like Mario 64 like some of the fanboys have been saying, it runs smooth and is pretty to look at. Yes, Nintendo could have done better as far as texture surfaces go, they do become a bit pixel like, but I don't complain about it, I'm enjoying every second of this game, and I don't want to stop until I have every single Shine. Gameplay, 5 stars, good solid and fun. Controls, well I will say since I haven't played Mario 64 in a while I was out of practice and fell to my death a few times, but with a little time I was up to par and figured my way around everything. The device on his back, FLUDD, really threw me for a loop at first, I found myself shooting the opposite ways of enemies and got frustrating, but soon I got the hang of it. All in all, soild game and Mr. Miyamoto doesn't disappoint with his masterpiece, can't wait for the next one, keep up the fantastic work Nintendo!
