A Very Good Game, But Once Again, Not Nearly the Best

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 0 / 1

This game does have a rather addicting appeal to it, but it wears off after you beat it. First off, the adventure fields from the first game are gone. These were a huge take-down from the game because you could talk to people, go to courses and chao gardens without using an annoying map, and that you could find sonic emblems by simply going to a hard to find space and collecting it. It also added to the plot. You can arrive at one place and find an enemy there, leading into a boss battle instead of just being taken there after beating a level. Second, the graphics are good at SOME points, but are horrible at other points. Third, in some points of some courses, you just have to hold forward on the control stick and the character does everything for you. This is the bad side of the loop-de-loops and corkscrews: a lack of challenge. Also, some of the characters (Tails) might make you extremeley annoyed because of their stupid and corny lines. There are some good points to the game, though. Multiplayer can be unfair at times, but just barely. It is a fun aspect of Sonic games. Chaos are also a great aspect of the game. As a virtual pet, a Chao can like or dislike a character according to the way that character treats it. There are also races and karate for the chao, its skills raising with the animals it recieves. When Sonic Adventure DX Directer's Cut comes out, buy that, it has everything that was taken away in this game I am reviewing, AND more. Overall, if you have no history with any of the Sonic games, than rent this game before you buy it.

Sonic Debuts on GameCube

From what I've read from a lot of the reviews here, this game is pretty controversial. Many thought it was awesome while others completely hated it. I myself think this is'nt a great game but its not a bad one either. One of the best things about this game is its transfer rates. When the characters are blazing through levels the game never gets choppy and slows down like Goldeneye did a lot. Its graphics could look a bit better but still are exceptable. The whole concept of playing in Hero or Dark mode is very interesting and helps the game's replay value. One thing that really gave this game a kick in the balls was its music. 90% of it is horrible corny Power Ranger type music that only has about three lines of song and keeps repeating! I just mute my TV most of the time when I play this! The best feature in this whole game is Chao. Little cute egg like creates kind of like tomagatchi's. You hatch them from eggs and rasise them from infancy to maturity. The style in which you raise them effects how there perosnality and appearance will look. If you spoil them and and never play wiht them they will be on the Dark side and look black. If you treat them fair and play, they will have a halo and be white. You can even breed Chao to lay more eggs. This feature is completly addictive and by far the crown jewel of the game. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle isnt going down in history as A game like Super Smash Bros. Melee but it gets the job done. Plus theres so many goals to accomplish it will take forever to completly finish the game. I give this a 3 out of 5.

Sega did a WONDERFUL job of putting Sonic on the new systems. [Nintendo didn't do a very good job of putting mario in 3-D.]
the sonic and eggman levels are THE BOMB! it has cool music, and you NEVER GET TIRED of playing City Escape. its also FUN raising Chao. You can also trade Chao with your GBA.

This is a great game compared to its horribly made Dreamcast version. The Sonic and Shadow stages are great, the Tails and Eggman ones are well made, but i must agree with the cons the Knux and Rouge ones get really tireing and boring after a while. except for meteor herd which is very sweet. < I never tire of playing in Meteor Herd.> the glitches from the old version were fixed my only problem is with the cameras which can get annoying after losing a lot of lives thanks to that.

To gamers every where, Kitx

Ps: i love Final Hazard

Absolut Fun!

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (SA2B) is one of those games that doesn't come around everyday. You can play as either the Good Guys (Sonic, Tails, et al), or you can play as the Bad Guys (Shadow, Dr. Eggman, et al). Each side has their own levels, cinematics, and dialogue. You can play in "Story Mode" which is the only way to get all the great cinematics. Or you can play in one of many other modes including "Kart Racing". This is the kind of game that can take countless hours away from other tasks. The number of modes, and the fact that you have to collect 180 emblems to truly beat the game, all add up to one thing; you won't get tired of this game quickly. The gameplay is very fast in the Sonic/Shadow levels, but usually slows down some for the Tails/Eggman levels. Raising the little creatures known as Chaos can be very time consuming, but very rewarding if you do it right. The graphics and sound effects are excelent, and the voice acting is some of the best I've ever heard. If you are even a casual video gamer, you really need to check SA2B out. Do yourself a favor and at least rent it. It may be too fast for younger or less experienced gamers, but people that have been gaming for a long time will almost certainly enjoy it.

Best characters and Tips!

Personally, my favorite character is "Rouge The Bat"! She is like Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark, M) and Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden (Nihn-juh g-I-dihn,) N/A) because, she fights like a cat, but she moves like a ninja! Here's a couple of TIPS! 1. Get all the items before trying to get every emblem! 2. If you're character is balancing him/herself out, don't touch the joystick, go for the A button then slowly tilt the joystick the other way and try doing the manuver again! 3. If you feel that you will fail to pull of a difficult task, don't fear the failure, face failure and if you lose the life, big deal, just go to "City Escape" (Chao Stage) and play until you think you have a good sum of lives, rings, and practice! 4. Lives play a big role in your abilities! The more lives you finish with, the better a gamer you are. For example: if you are just about to finish off "The Final Hazard" (Biolizard in Space) and you do with say 60 out of 72 lives, meaning you only lost 12 (twelve) lives, that means you're a great player! The more lives you have, the better your chances of actually mastering it! 5. NEVER FEAR FAILURE! You won't finish the game completely if you fear failure! FIGHT! If you remember these tips from me, Brad Hunter, you'll have no problem, see ya on the battle field!

Your killing me SEGA, you really are.

Really, SEGA did not have to make this game so stupid and funny. But the gameplay rocks and it is the best Gamecube game so far.... Dead Sayings-
Sonic- "HUGH!!!" and "OH NO!"
Shadow- "DO" and "maria..."
Eggman- "NO!" and "this is it"
Knucles- "uh" and "It's over..."
Tails- "SONIC!!" "sonic"
Rouge- "AH!" and "I thought i could do it!"

I think "I thougt I could do it" and "It's over" are really stupid but funny. Next funny thing.

Beat the Level Sayings

Sonic- "Yes!"
Shadow- "Here we go!"
Tails- "I did it!"
Eggman- "YESH!"
Knucles- "I've found um!"
Rouge- I can't remember what she says.

Here are just some funny sayings.

My favorite is, "I'm the coolest! (Shadow)"
The dummest is "I'm ashamed to call myself a hunter! (Rouge)"
Whats with OMOCHAO I'll just say what he says when you pick him up.

"Hey! Stop it! Let me go! Hey, were are you taking me? Why don't you get yourself a teddy bear!" and when you throw him off a cliff he says "Bye-Bye!", "AWAH!", "THANKS FOR SAVING ME!", or "HELP ME!". When you throw him at an enemy, he first says, "EH?" then he goes, "I can't believe you did that to me! I'm not helping you anymore!"

But everything else is great about this game. 2 player, Chao Garden, Dark Garden, Hero Garden, the game play, Hero story, Dark story, Last story, everything beside the dumb sayings is awesome! So buy this game if you have a gamecube and a brother or sister, but buy the original if you have gc and dc but have no brothers or sisters to save you money, because one player mode is the same. Thats all i have to say, and you can read my reveiw for the dc version. My name is Boosh337 as you know. Thanks.

This game is so awesome! I have the Dreamcast version and intend to get this one. This one has better graphics and the VS. mode is twice as good. (At least from what I've heard) If you have this game for Dreamcast but aren't really a Sonic fan, then don't get this. If you are a hardcore fan, whether you have the Dreamcast version or not, then get this game!

It's not opinion, it's fact that the Adventure series was the best of the Sonic games. Don't get Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, or any SonicX DVDs. Those were crap compared to this.
