A New Experience!!!

Pikmin is a new type of game coming straight out of Nintendo. Legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto designed this game. And he known for making great games. The game revolves around Captain Olimar and his little Pikmin friends. Captain Olimar has crashed landed on a planet and has to get off the planet in 30 days due to a poisonous gas called oxygen. He finds little creatures called Pikmin. And the adventure begins... The graphics in this game are amazing. The worlds look photo-realistic. Don't let the appearance of the characters fool you into thinking this is a kid game. This game can be enjoyed be just about everyone. The game is quite a challenge. But it's not too hard nor is it too easy. It's quite funny watching the Pikmin run into battle. Truly a great game! Hang in there little guys.

Okay, Pikmin looks like a weird stupid game doesnt it....WRONG!!!!! Pikmin is one of the most amazing games I have ever played. As a professional gamer, I would give Pikmin more than 5 stars*.The graphics are amazing! The controls are sweet.
And the landscape is beautiful beyond belief. the storyline is awesome. In the morning you grab the Pikmin out of their colored bases and search for parts of your ship that where scattered all around the planet when you you crash landed, but I strongly believe that you just might encounter some horrible powerful BEASTS!!!Pikmin are weak as individuals, but they are almost invincible in numbers. It takes a certain amount of Pikmin to carry one ship part. Soon it will get dark and that will be time to retreat back to your base in the woods. When the countdown tell nighttime
comes you better stop what your doing and head back to bay! Because almost all of the planet's wildlife is nocturnal.Rest until tomorrow and you will start a new day that will bring all kinds of adventure!! If you buy this game I promise you will NOT regret it. I hope the information I gave you helped you make your decision! Goodbye (for now)

Fun and original, but much too short

I had a lot of fun playing Pikmin. The story, graphics, music, and dialogue are all hilarious. The basic idea is this: You are Captain Olimar, a tiny alien who crashlands on a strange planet. You, with the help of creatures named Pikmin, must find all 30 missing parts of your ship in 30 days. Each day is very short, but needs to be played many times, because you are guaranteed to mess up. The game was a completely new experience, since the gameplay is so unique from anything seen before. Unfortunately, I finished it in very little time. Nintendo should have lengthened the game. 30 days is not nearly enough time to fully enjoy the world of the Pikmin. When I finished, I was thinking, "Is that all?" Like many games, it has no replay value. I hope Miyamoto will make Pikmin 2 longer.

Good game but very short

The idea of the game is great! You're stranded on a strange planet and you must survive for 30 days while finding ship pieces. My record is beating it in 22 gamedays. It's very short. People like the challenge mode, but I don't. It's like a time trial, and I never liked those. The control is very easy, but the graphics kinda suck. The music gets annoying after playing the same level for 2 and a half hours. One of the games that make Gamecube better than PS2. This game's good played with the TV on mute and music blasting. It's good with some Radiohead. Now stop reading this and buy it... well actually you should rent it if your one of those losers who play video games for 12 hours a day(like me).

This is a great and addicting game!

This game is so much fun! It's really easy to get into, then you're totally addicted. This game has awesome replay value. When you beat this game you can play it over and over again, and not get bored. This is a fun game for anyone.

The ingenuity of this game is amazing. You control little creatures called Pikmin. There are several types of Pikmin that you will meet throughout the game. The first type you will encounter is the Red. They are the best fighters, and are fire resistant. They drown when they are put in water (I learned this the hard way. THe second type is yellow. They have large ears and can fly higher than other Pikmin. They also can handle bomb rocks, which are used to knock down stone walls. The third kind are the blue Pikmin. They have gills and are water resistant. You start off with one type of each pikmin, then as you beat creatures, they drop pellets, which are made of nutrients from the things the creatures consume. The pikmin then team up to lift the carcass and pellets back to their onion, or nest. Here, the objects are regenerated into Pikmin sprouts. If you let the seeds stay in the ground, they will grow into a bud and eventually a flower. When they have been grown fully, they are more efficient. There are 5 beautifully designed stages where the parts have been scattered. Which leads us to our plot. As the miniscule Olimar, you, along with the help of Pikmin, have to get to the rocket parts. You have 30 days to do this. You will see the sun move across the top of the screen, simulating time passing. Overall, the visuals are stunning, the creativity is unequaled, and the plot is great. The only thing that could have been better is the replay value, however challenge mode and the high scores may keep you in check for an extra week.

My husband's first reaction to this game was basically, "it's so cute, what a girly game." And that's probably fair on a very superficial level, I mean, the Pikmin are just so darned cute and even the monsters have a cutesiness about them. But once you get past the initial ooh-ahh of the graphics and get into the game play, it is very much an "everyone" game. Pikmin has aspects of just about every kind of game genre out there, except a first-person shooter. The puzzles range from fairly simple conundrums, to multi-linear strategies.

A lot of the reviews here mention the apparent shortness of each day. At first, I agreed with them and thought it would be more fun if each day could last as long as I wanted it to, but after a while I got the hang of the controls and the attributes of the different Pikmin and managed to do quite a bit in one day. The key is to use an effective strategy and multi-task. The very first time I played, I only got 15 parts in 22 days...not very good. The next time, when I was more familiar with things, I got 29 parts in 25 days. I am sure that the next time I play it, I'll do even better still.

Pikmin is definitely a game that can be played many times all the way through. It becomes a challenge to beat your last score, and the graphics are just so impressive that you really don't mind repeating it.

In summary, it is a very unique and enjoyable game that can be enjoyed by a wide audience.

A new gaming genera has sprouted.

Pikmin is so many games at once; it's a game in its own class.

You can multitask your Pikmin, telling one group to attack, another to dig, another to build, while you scout ahead. It's a puzzle game, figuring out which Pikmin to use for which task. Each of the three colors have different abilities, strengths and weaknesses.

And the aspect that puts Pikmin apart from any other game is that the PLAYER SETS THE PACE. You have 30 days to collect 30 pieces of your space ship. But if you don't get all 30, it's OK. You decide which days you'll fight the big boss monsters, or save them till the end of 30 days, or skip them all together (which would be a shame, the boss battles are the most entertaining).

This makes it perfect for all ages, if a player doesn't want to face the hard challenges he or she doesn't have too. Or if you want to go for the perfect game, you can collect one piece ever day.

Not to mention the wonderful scenery and attention to detail (like the sound of footstep changing from sand to concrete), and the very entertaining characters.

Only draw back is the repetitive music.

Pikmin is a can't miss!

Believe the hype!!!

This game is SERIOUSLY addicting!!! If you dont have alot of time on your hands then dont start playing, I play this game only like twice a week cause everytime I pop it in and start playing the challenge part, where you try and grow as many little guys as you can, I get wrapped up in trying to figure out how to get 300 on the The Forest Navel... and next thing I know I have been playing for like 6 hours and I have accomplished nothing all day!!! But hey the game is great and it has immense replay value, little kids and grown ups alike will enjoy!!!

Best Game Cube Game!

This game is very fun. It's good for kids from 7 through 12. Do not get it confused with Pokemon!
