This game is unbelievable! Control a whole bunch a characters at once...... stragedy, action, colide into one awesome 5 star game. Trust me on this one......it is INCREDIBLE! This is just about the best game I've seen in my life (besides star wars rogue leader - rogue squadron 2 which was equally awesome). If you dont get it, your missing out on an advanced, action-packed, strategic game. I myself am buying the GAMECUBE only for this game. Trust me, it is all worth the money. This is the best game you can get for a low price, the best game at any price! Anyway, I'm just telling you, being a gamer myself, BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!

Pikmin is fun. The story is kind of, uh, pointless, but it's fun. The only down side is the entire third level. It's so big that it takes 2 minutes to get from point A to point B.Then you have to come all the way back to point A because you brought the wrong color Pikmin or not enough. That level is dark too which makes it harder. Overall, It's a great game, though. If you like a challenge, this is definitely your game.

I love it

I'm sick and tired of (people) writing these bad reviews about Pikmin when they have not even played the damn game. The game is very fun and everyone of all ages will love it, I promise. Adults and kids alike will enjoy this game and it is addictive. (...) I love it and I bet you you will too.

Crazy addictive fun.

Pick this up. I JUST got this game and I'm regretting I didn't pick it up sooner. Now I can't wait for the second one. They need some more difficult enemies and more variety of pikmin but other than that this game is great. This should be a first buy for anyone with a gamecube, highly recommended just because it's so different from everything else.

When I first played Pikmin it was unlike anything, I had ever played before. You are Olimar crash landed on a planet with only 30 days to live. Your spaceship has been torn to pieces, which you must retrieve, and at the crash spot, you find these interesting creatures that look like plants. Oh, you are also only a few inches tall. While Pikmin are more useful then tribbles, they are extremely cute, and you proceed to implore their help to gather the missing pieces of your ship through obstacles such as giant ladybugs, rock walls, and other items.

This game is not violent, and encourages strategy, problem solving, and puzzle breaking. Featured in James Gee's What Video Games Have to Teach Us about Learning and Literacy. This title should be played by anyone who is has little to no experience with video games. A true classic this game was truly unique in a time when games where starting to lack originality.

ADDICTIVE GAMEPLAY

I played this game at the CubeClub, a Nintendo held event where games were displayed in a club like environment. This game appeals to a large age group. Definitely not only for kids, if anything adults will appreciate it more. You guide little pikmin around and tell them to do certain things. The object of the game is to find the pieces that broke off your spacespace so you can put it back together and go home. Along the way you find many enemies and other road blocks that you must first figure out how to clear then actually have enough pikmin to be able to do it. Great game, personally I can't wait for this title to come out.

adorable!

This is such a cute game. My little nephew got a game cube for his birthday along with this game. He brought it over here and I immediately became addict. Olimir's space craft falls onto a unique planet where there are a lot of different creatures. he immediately finds a mushroom with a breed of red looking creatures he calls Pikmin. As you travel throughout different levels you come to know of yellow and blue Pikimin. Red are fireproof, yellow throws bombs, and blue can go in the water. These magnificent creatures can knock down walls, cute down flowers, defeat enemies, build bridges, and carry ship parts. It's definitely a game for little kids but just as addicting to the older ones too.

It's a short game. It's not especially difficult. There is little in the way of action.....and it's one of the greatest video games I've ever played.
I bought it a long time ago, back when it came out, and it's been the one game I return to over and over, constantly attempting to build my rocket ship and leave the planet in as short a time as possible. I've been so drawn to this hypnotic game, whereas I've barely finished the others I've played (including RESIDENT EVIL, the most remarkable looking/performing title yet, but comparatively boring). PIKMIN is so addictive, but in a quiet, unassuming way. It's also really bizarre, disturbing almost, in the near-barren terrain of each world, in the over-size ladybug-like creatures who chow down on your little friends, even in the Pikmin themselves, who are simultaneously cute, pathetic, creepy, and altogether otherworldly. I'm praying for a more expansive sequel, one that truly expoits the potential hinted at in the original. Miyamoto is a genius beyond reproach.

Pikmin - Nintendo's Newest Creation

Nintendo is a company known for its innovation, one needs only to look at the controllers of Nintendo's Gamecube and N64 for proof of that fact. Now, for the new Gamecube console, Nintendo delivers a game that will appeal to people of all ages and gaming ability, a little gem called Pikmin. Make no mistake gaming friends, though it may have graphics that appear cute and cartoonish in nature, this game isn't just for little kids (though I'm sure the little rascals will love it anyway). As Pikmin is rated, this game is for Everyone.

For a little background info, Pikmin is the brainchild of Shigeru Miyamoto, the mastermind behind two of Nintendo's top franchise hits, "Super Mario" and "The Legend of Zelda," and he really knows his stuff. Nothing beats a Miyamoto game, and it looks as if Nintendo let the man loose on Pikmin, doing anything he pleased. Pikmin is without a doubt a very different and more unique game than any of us are use to, and this change is a very good one to be sure.

On a more personal note, because this game seemed so different than what I knew, I was going to rent it before making a purchase, but I thought "What the heck," and bought it anyway. I have no regrets for making this impulse buy. Pikmin is addictive and fun, making you rethink your strategy each game "day." I like to run around a level to become as familiar with it as I can, then restart the level without saving to make the best use of the game "day." Pikmin is almost hard to stop playing.

And now for your regularly scheduled review. Graphics are without a doubt what most people base their judgment on a game (although it shouldn't be), and Pikmin has eye candy galore. Pikmin is a colorful game, very cartoon like with cute little creatures abound, thus making the game appealing to children. The backgrounds are stunning and beautiful, the characters are certainly interesting, and there are absolutely no unintended jagged edges in sight. Framerates seem to be continuous with no sign of slow down, even when you have a hundred Pikmin beating the tar out of a giant Pikmin eating bulb creature or flaming nose rat, giving you smooth animation all the way.

Pikmin isn't just about fancy "look at me" graphics though (although great graphics are always nice and welcome in a game), that's just the eye catcher. Pikmin is really about strategy, lots of strategy, which will appeal to many gamers. The game is broken down into 30 fifteen to twenty minute "days" in which you have to utilize Pikmin, tiny little plant creatures, to recover the missing parts of your ship. The first part of this strategy game is to make good use of your time, as there are 30 missing parts to your ship, meaning you have to find and recover at least one part per day. With thorn walls, rock barriers, and giant Pikmin eating bulb creatures blocking the way, you will definitely have your work cut out for you.

The controls are set up in a simple point and click method. This simplification of controls makes the game easier to play and much more fun. All you need do is position your cursor and begin hurling Pikmin into the air to demolish walls, build bridges, and massacre enemies, using their lifeless carcasses to get even more Pikmin. You can also separate the Pikmin in your party by color, since each Pikmin has its own unique abilities.

There are three types of Pikmin in the game: red, yellow, and blue. Each Pikmin has its own special traits that will help you conquer the game. Red Pikmin are immune to fire, Yellow Pikmin can jump high and carry bomb rocks, and Blue Pikmin can survive in water. These traits will help you decide which Pikmin is best for which task as Yellow Pikmin are good at taking out the bulb creatures that eat them and using bomb rocks to blow up rock barriers, Red Pikmin are good for tackling the flaming nose rats when it tries to burn your Pikmin alive, and Blue Pikmin . . . well . . . their mostly useful in taking down barriers in water and retrieving ship parts that are in water.

Pikmin's only downfall that I can see is that the game is terribly short. 30 twenty minute days (10 hours of gameplay) is really nothing compared to the length of some games, but Pikmin is one of the first games released for Nintendo's Gamecube so this could just be an appetizer for games to come. Still, Pikmin's shortness is a let down, which is why I only gave it four stars.

The verdict: Pikmin is a fun and addictive game, period. It's almost like the Sim City games in that it's fun even if you don't win and you try harder to do better the next time around. Whether you are planning to buy this game for yourself or your children, you most likely won't be disappointed, unless you just really hate strategy games.

It seem every time the gaming market needs something orignial nintendo seems to come throught and that what they did with pikmin. the graphics on this game is amazing colorful landscapes and detailed enviroments giving you a feel that your there the game play is perfect you will be comanding and completing task in no time whit control that fit this game well. you play this game as a pint sized space man name captan olimar who so happen to crash land on this planet your objective is to collect 30 parts from his ship that broke off when he crasher landed and you will have to collect them quick because you have 30 days to do it about 10 min of real time and you have the pikmin to help blue ones can go in water red in fire and yellow can be thrown higher also can carry bombs is up to you how you play it . but to cut a long story short pikmin is worth every cent and will be another nintendo classic with many sequals maybe we will see a green or orange pikmin in the future. LOL
