How can I describe this game? Oh yeah, SWEET!!!
With the realistic enviroments and many varieties of races and planets to go to including skills to pick from who wouldn't give it a five? One of the best online role playing games I have experienced yet. There is more new surprises every time you play! One tip of advice... GET THIS GAME.

Alright, First off I am a huge star wars fan. I own all the movies, and make an effort to read all the expanded universe books as they come out.
This game, while it may not conform exactly to the events of the books/movies, is an extremely fun outlet for Star Wars fans. I started playing 2 months ago, and this game has benn nothing but fun and exciting. The civil war, though not as preeminent throughout the game as I would like, is there. There are Rebel guilds (groups of players) that actively fight the imperial control in cities such as Bestine. The imperial players, when they see this, tell all their friends, and guilds, and pretty soon more and more people show up to fight, and things get really interesting!
This game is a treat for Star Wars fans and MMORPG fans alike. It offers several excellent ideas that set it apart from other games of its type such as Everquest. First off, the economy is player driven, and all the best items in the game are player made. So to get a good sword or blaster rifle you find another player who is a weaponsmith! This makes things more fun, because it eliminates the standard high level players controlling all the good items in the game. Instead of sitting around waiting for a strong monster to show up and then killing it for its weapon, you save up and buy one! The mission system lets even low level fighters get significant credit (money)rewards for completing simpe missions. So good weapons for newbies are not out of reach.
The character customization is great, and you can even have yourself further customized by an Image designer, a type of player who can fix hairstyles, makeup, body shape, etc.
The crafting classes are fun!! Dont just be a crafter for the heck of it, have a reason. Make good weapons, sell them, gain notoriety, use your money to build a nice house, etc.
Have fun with it!
I recommend this game to anyone who likes Star Wars, or MMORPGs.
CU aint that bad

The CU as i have been playing isn't that bad. There are ATM alot of bugs that plague the CU but i have a feeling that will get fixed in a few weeks before RotW goes live...
The CU atm has only been live a few days now and it really isn't time to form an opinion of what is going on with the game yet. Most people that i see that are complaining about ti probably fought one creature and lost because they didn't know what they were doing. went to a town and started to complain about it. Or some skip that step and look at the skill tree of their character and decide it is horrible.
Only People that have a right to complain about the CU are crafters some like armorsmith had their entire way the profession worked change and made it alot longer and tiresome to craft.
Entertainers as well have a right to complain(except the AFK Buff bots. expecally when they complain about that they have no more reason to AFK buffbot WHILE afk.) However i feel the Entertainers will get a feature soon that will A. remove AFK entertainers from the game and B. Give the Entertainers a new skill that makes them usfull other then just the insperation buff which increases XP/Faction/Crafting Experimantion by 10%.
I have also heard from people that are in RoTW Beta that just that from that alone is amazing and will keep them around SWG. It adds tons of new content and Cybornetic limbs that have specail ablities to them. It will be interesting to see what whill happen in the coming months.
However i do suggest waiting a month or so before you pick up this game... wait till the All in one pack is released and by then alot of the bugs In-game will be fixed.
Complaints,Hypes,and pragmatism

I seem to notice a percentage of naysayers who complain about MMORPGs.The subscription fee.Welcome to business. If you have ever taken an economics,or business class, you'll know that a company cannot grow, cannot succeed, and certainly can't provide good customer service if it's profits are both onetime, and limited.Sure,Sony itself makes stupid amounts of money, but that doesnt' mean it can dedicate it's coffers to cater to one of it's titles in a relatively expensive way.The cost of servers, staff, and the ongoing improvements and expansion pack production are usually quite large in the case of MMORPGs,and some gamers fail to recognize that the only things you get free are either stolen,or given with strings attached.
Gamers complain game companies of "milking their wallet".Doesn't every company with a new game, with a new set of spiffy, and hardware intensive graphics do this anyway?Oh,that game needs a new video card,or 512 of DDR, and most gamers will GO and BUY the necessary parts. The overall cost of these new parts in comparison in monthly fees is rather similiar, since your SOTA(State of the Art) upgrades can't fight the march of time and after a year or two, have to be discarded, and bought anew, much like a new version of the game coming out, with new "content" that you purchase. Is this also milking your wallet?Should game companies just sell games once, not give the industry a kick in the pants for innnovation and advancement,to just get by and brownose the gamer community.Hardly.As I said,it's business first and foremost. You either get over this, and enjoy your game, while paying that "horrible tax" or you bemoan, groan, and find something else to do,which is your own choice.
Er,as to Galaxies myself,I'm skeptical about the noncombat professions since so many people seem to want to blow stuff up,but maybe that Tailor is more dangerous than you think,eh?
Totally going to be awesome

I've read plenty of articles in my mags that are just way cool. You can make your own characters, they do what you want, heck, they even shrug and smile. The backgrounds are very lifelike. Can't wait for it to come out. High price, most likely worth it. Hopefully the two Galactic battlegrounds, books, and action figures will keep me occupied (although Galactic Battlegrounds will in no way compare.) See ya'll on the net.
The Force will be with you always!

SWG Rocks. The new Combat Upgrade rocks. The people who whine care more about whining than playing. Why do you see a bunch of people whining here? Simple: the majority of the players, who enjoy it, are logged in and playing the game. :P

I have been playing SWG since day 3 and have been enjoying it the majority of the time. I must say that since the release of the combat upgrade the game play has been extreemly enhanced. You will probably see a lot of negative reviews about this due to a small portion of the current players who do not like being reduced from thier previous state of invinsibility. SWG was previously unbalanced in the areas of combat and professions. Previously I could solo high end mobs w/out needing any assistance. This meant that for me to proceed with the game I could no longer work with other players to advance. I was forced to run solo which gets really boring. I even quit playing for several months and moved to WoW. The new system makes you highly dependant on working together in groups. You develop new stratagies and tatics for overtaking your enemies in the game. Each profession on it's own is useful but most effective when put together with another players profession. The result is a stronger sense of community and more human interaction than before. WoW did not compare to the possibilities SWG gave me. The CU is here to stay and I'm loving every second of it. All of these negative posts are from people who cant accept change. If you are new to SWG than you have not been tainted by the previous flawed system and should take well to the new SWG. I highly recommend this game. I've played 3 MMORPGs and this one is the best by far.
