An Expanding Game

There could be a lot more to a computer game than killing monsters and accomplishing an objective, if the right environment is provided. You can kill mobs on any game, from any perspective or system that you like. SWG is special because it has real people in it with you, with ever-changing software. SWG is a whole world, with more than static AI interaction.
The coders are constantly altering things. I live in AK, and so yes, the server is down when I'd like to be playing, every night. But that means that the universe is not static, and, every night, new things are implemented. Have some patience. It's usually only an hour and a half. Enough time to stretch, call family, or watch a movie. The things that they put in the game are amazing to see! The sky alone is realistic, with weather change and beautiful terrain. I sometimes just run around photographing places in the game. The creatures can be seen towering above you. Balconies have a view. And so many planets to visit!
Fifteen bucks a month is a lot, but if I compare it against how much money I save not going out to the mall so often, or to eat out, it's worth it. I can play with all my friends from college, and meet people from all over the world, just like a chat room. What you can't do in a chat room is test your skill at combat, compete with players at seeing what's going on with the group, and save the day as a medic or marksman for real folks. Other people see your success; isn't that an ego boost for anyone?
Players can customise their character to express a unique personality, and use moods and character motion to communicate. I've never seen two characters look alike. In short, you can roleplay if you want to! Effortlessly, without hours spent describing little things like on a MUSH. I'm a female gamer, and though I like combat, I also like to RP. I love Starwars. The universe is a lot like ours might be someday, and that's exciting.
SWG may not contain as much content as it should, but more content is appearing every day. In my opinion, it's still the fullest, most expanisive game out there. Its many facets of fun, which you can read more about in other reviews, make it engaging. There's controlled player wars, fishing, farming, tailoring, interior decorating, hairstyling, hunting, dueling, healing, sneaking, dancing, shooting, or even trying to play the market to make your money. It's amazing how all the professions have an affect on each other's success. It's only 'boring' if you're not imaginitive and/or social enough to get right in there and specifically affect the universe and its people. Of _course_ an _online_ game is going to be boring if a player does everything by themselves, never trades favours, goods, or money. Feel free to ask around for help if you're new on how to get off the ground in the economy. It's not hard, but a little help goes a long way. I see players help each other all the time. My biggest gripe is the storyline: I want more of it. Oh, and I want to fly spaceships sometime in the next year.

Whatever the angries tell you, this game is far worth the price.
The 3rd MMORPG I'm playing is graphically the best one. The value added is the Star Wars universe, you really feel in and it gives you another experience of the saga.

Can this game get any better. Those poor noobs with 56Ks think they'll be left out, yet even they can join in the mayhem. This game takes RPG's to the next level, and doesn't addict you like EverCrack. JK. Seriously, this is the best SW game ever!

Honestly i only played the game for about 2or 3 hours at my friends house. But within that short time also watching my bro play it is a VERY impressive game. You could custamize your character soo much it was scary. I have heard of some bugs in the game but i havent ran into any so far. There are a few updates coming out such as mounts. You capture creatures and ride them. Player cities (make your own city with others and get voted to be the mayor) and things like speed bikes and stuff like that. Overall I was impressed by the graphics on the game and enjoyed it. The many classes and proffesions you could get was amazing. I think its a a good game and put it on your to buy list.

SWG SHOIULD BE ON X-BOX

I was actually really thinking about getting the all access pass, so that i could plaay my Everquest which i loved so much, Planetside which is what i got now, EQ online adventures, and Star Wars Galaxies. After reading these reviews, I am really starting to wonder is SWG really worth it? I have decided no. I recommend Planetside or Everquest. Star Wars Galaxies was very very very very very good........on the cover! Obviously theres a reason it didnt show any gameplay on the back or inside cover, because it sucks. I really was hoping for a better game from SoE but they put so much work into Planetside and had no time for SWG. It's all about money. I know very well that money is what helps us live, but thats being greedy. peopl pay $9.95 for Everquest: Online Adventures, $12.95 for Everquest for the computer ( multiply that by a million , Planetside is $12.95 and so is SWG. Do you honestly think they make enough money? I sure do. I enjoy playing Planetside a lot and i would really recommend it for anyone who likes shooter games even just a little. What im trying to put through all my mumbo-jumbo is that SWG just isnt any good. I currently own an Xbox, a PS2 AND a Gamecube, and i personally think X-Box could handle it if Sony would just put SWG on it. Sony is much too stubborn to partner with Microsoft, and thats not good at all. It's good to be able to say "Sony is the best!" but wouldn't it be better to say "Sony and Microsoft are the two best companies?" Im not going to say i hate PS2 or Gamecube, i like them verymuch, but i just have to say X-Box is the best of the three. Look at the facts I present my case with:

-PS2 has 2 controller ports, X-Box and Gamecube have 4.

-PS2 and Gamecube can't system link for 16 players.

-PS2 and Gamecube reqire $20.00 memory cards, X-Box has a hard drive and supports memory cards, not to mention the hard drive holds like 3,000 games!

-Gamecube has ALL of those ports on the bottom and NOTHING to use them on.

-Nintendo hasn't worked on any updates for the ports on the Gamecube's bottom.

I still like thes two systems no matter how bad they are and i hope you'll agree

The best MMORPG ever

Hello. This is the ultimate game. It has it all. You can do anything you want in the galaxy and it is only going to get better. Of course as a die-hard Star Wars fan I have nothing but praise. Did they release it early...YES. But all MMORPG have kinks when they first come out. The gameplay is awesome. You can't do it alone...make friends and have fun.

I think this game is awesome. It's a really great role playing game. I like the action, the other people I get to interact with, instead of playing by myself. I haven't had any problems with connecting or game play. I'd recommend this game to anyone interested in some real awesome game play.

Immersion in the Star Wars Universe...sort of

I picked up this game on the day of release excited and ready to play. I installed the game, started it up and clicked on the button to begin my registration process. Error. Again, error, again error.

Fortunately for those reading this review, this problem has since been fixed. The login is smooth as silk and the character creation process is amazingly complex and yet quite intuitive.

There are several starting locations to venture out into Star Wars Galaxies, all of which will be familiar to fans of the Star Wars Universe. The buildings and natural scenery are unique to each planet, and there is also quite a lot of variety on each planet themselves. These planets are also BIG. So big that I would advise against trying to travel on foot from one city to another. It takes more than an hour. Luckily there's a shuttle system that will take you where you need to for a small fee.

The character development process, depending on your profession, can be either interesting, frustrating or just tedious. Because the economy in the game is completely player-driven (i.e. players must make all the items that other players buy), the game in these early stages is a little off-kilter. Crafting professions advance much more slowly than combat professions, so you have a lot of rifleman looking for advanced rifles while there are very few, if any, weaponsmiths with the abilities to craft the advanced weapons they desire. This, however, should change within the next few weeks.

If you're looking for a MMORP that is fun, interesting and set in a world that has your nostalgia meter racing on high, this is the game for you. I recommend it highly with just one caveat: it is a difficult game to get into. The cities are large and thus confusing for a while to get around in, the player development can be slow and tedious in the early stages, and the economy isn't completely balanced at this time. However, with a little tinme and patience you will learn the layout of the cities, get over the player development hump and be able to participate in the ever-growing and developing economy.

Like any brand new MMOLG, STG is plauged with small glithes, bugs and broke things. No worries. The team is fast as lightning when it comes to fixing these and will soon begin to add more content. For right now, it is a shakedown cruise for both us, the players and the designers. It looks really good and is very stable with no lag. If you were a old vet of EQ, you'll pick this up pretty quick. Gone are the old levels and added are skills that get improved. The Graphics are breathtaking and it is Star Wars!

Game is FUN don't believe what you read

This game is fun, Don't believe what you are reading about it. If you like Star Wars you will like this game.

There are things broken with this game. Mainly dealing with Combat. Some classes are are unequal to others. It's this way in real life, though so to me I don't see it as a problem. If you spend months mastering a profession you should be powerful.

Buy the game. Play as a imperial first, do all the missions to get the cool stuff then play as a rebel. Some content is available to that specific faction. There is game content to be had. Searching in a search engine will reflect numerous sites with info.
