I have had this game for 23 days, even though im still a newbie I'm already an Imperial and guilded. People who buy this game and starts will probaly think like I did "Man this game sucks you get hardly any credits and you have to missions with a very sucky blaster or sword." I was thinking of canceling but I didnt i decided to play it for a week and see if it stilled suck. I'm glad I never canceled because once I got armor form a Twi'lek named Glo and he gave my speederbike I use and the Stormtrooper who gave me 1000 credits. And later on, I went exploring and found Mos Veris. This is where I live and do missions. Veris is a great place for newbies. Dont stay in Mos Eisley. In awhile though ill be moving to Twilight Citadel. Now for those Newbies who want to be rebels and dont want to be a "mean" Imperial. Imperials arent mean. Theres a few, but you hardly ever see them. The Rebels have mean players too. But there nice too. Also,The imperials are heavily outnumbered. Theres more Rebs than Imps because everyone wants to be good, the imps are good too. Were not evil, just trying to unite the galaxy. Anyway, just keep playing this game and in a few days youll start liking it. Also on fileplanet.com you can use a 14 day trial and see if you like it.

As a Beta tester from early Beta 2, I have had my issues with this game, but all in all, this game still rocks. I have never seen a MMORPG with such awesome graphics. In one instance, I arrived on Endor, and met 4 other first timers to the planet. We left in search of Ewoks, and when we found an Ewok village, we sat there and watched as the sun came up, the detail and artestry of the landscape. Its also true what they said, turning all the graphic detail to max, will make the fastest PC/Video card crawl. (P4-3GHz/9700pro@1024x768 = 10fps) However, with modest graphic settings, I can still maintain an avg 30fps and be in complete awe of the graphics. As for the game play and upkeep, they are reasonable, and similiar to other MMORPG's. This game is definitely playable for the average game player (5-7 hr/wk), and still have as much fun as a die hard 60hr/wk player.

When I ordered this video game, I did not realize it required a monthly fee and had to be connected to the internet to play.
I have printed the RMA and will be sending the package back on Monday.
I feel that I am not alone in overlooking this requirement.
The yearly fee needs to be posted PROMINATELY next to the picture of the game.
I am extremly disappointed that I was " duped " into buying this game.
Lucas Arts has disappointed me and I'm sure others feel the same.
Very Impressive!

I know there are lots of gamers that are "disgruntled" because Star Wars has some bugs. Hey, guess what...it's a very complicated game. There are many aspects of the game itself that could not be mathematically calculated. Some things had to be explored/discovered as they came up. Since it's release, the Development team has worked very hard to maintain the updates, which I have been very impressed! I might add, very timely updates and have kept the consumers "in the loop" of what's going on! Keep up the great work SOE!
As for the game play itself...unbelievable. If you are a Star Wars fan you will NOT be let down! The missions are difficult, but this is a plus because things shouldn't be easy, they should be realistic. You want to be a Bounty Hunter? You better be ready to work for it!
The graphics are insanely excellent. I have a GeForce FX 5600 256Meg video card and it runs crystal clear.
Be ready for an acute addiction!!!! :)

This game is most definitely the best animated online roleplaying game and is a lot of fun to play... However I advise caution on purchasing this before December. There are mutliple bugs currently existing within the game and new ones have a habit of spawning all the time. The Techs for the game are overloaded with support questions, and the servers (around 15 of them) are mostly unreliable. They come out with patches almost daily and I am betting this game will have few, if any, bugs by December and the server reliability will be more consistent (many do not believe this will be so). On the plus side, when the servers are up this is probably one of the most satisfying games I have ever played. You can do missions for Jabba the Hutt and speak with him and Boba Fett or take a stand as an Imperial colonel and build yourself an Imperial Headquarters in the deserts of Tatooine, forests of Corellia, etc. You may also wish to muster a squad of stormtroopers to sack a rebel guild that has been agitating you or you could join the rebellion and come face to face with Luke Skywalker and mastering the jedi arts. Ultimately your greed may get the best of you and you will wish to be an independent contractor of sorts (perhaps a bountry hunter killing Rebel and Imperial followers or an artisan selling houses at a reasonable mark up) and live in a mansion estate on the far reaches of scenic Naboo and hire other players who are entertainers and chefs to dance in front of you, play relaxing songs all day long to soothe your woes, and make you elaborate meals to feast upon. Of course you may wish to contract some troopers (computer controlled) to patrol your mansion... just in case. On the whole: Good game, bad reliability for now...
A fun game but very time consuming

I was hesitant to get this game but picked it up on the advice of a friend and I was not disappointed.
Despite the negative critical reaction to this game I have found it to be enjoyable. It can be for the beginner far too large but over time the more you learn the more fun it can be. The range of possible in game careers and adventures is staggering. One can spend an evening dancing and chating in the cantina or doing dirty work for Java the Hut. A player can be an architect, tailor, hair dresser, dancer, musician, businessman, scout, creature tamer, bounty hunter, and much more. The fact that one can pursue a shot them up path, a non combat path, or a little of both makes the game unique. To move up in any of the base professions takes a lot of time and can be frustrating to some. I find that the time I spent watching TV passively is now spent on a game that I am actively involved in. I play a half to four hours a day depending on how much free time I have. The best part of the game is its social aspect. Grouping up with other players and meeting new people is enjoyable and can help one progress in the game faster. As you qualify for new skills you can go to a no player character or learn it from a player for far less credits.
This game will most likely be popular with hard core Star Wars fans for one can visit many of the famous characters and places from the movies. It also allows one to remain neutral or choose sides in the galactic war. But, it has a lot offer for those who are not die hard fans do to the wide breath of available activities. It is a fairly well rounded game for the most part.
There are a few problems however. The game can be fairly glitchy but one can report these and most of the problems should be fixed over time. A computer needs 256 mg ram a fairly good processor and video card to run the game. Look at the minimum requirements before buying. Some of the areas of interest are lacking in content. Hopefully this will be fixed over time. Most players are helpful but occasionally one runs into a hard core player or player association who spends way too much time playing the game and is not interested in associating with novices. Starting out on the right planet is important for some professions especially entertainers who need to be in highly populated places to gain experience and learn from other entertainers.
Overall I found the game to be an enjoyable escape.

This game is really cool.. it Far Surpasses Everquest, Ultima Online, and most of the other MMORPGS out thier. The Game literally allows you to do anything you could do in real life, except you get all the cool technologies like Star Wars.. This game no doubt will be the biggest hit of the year and will win many awards, and I think everyone should take a look at it before just brushing it aside.. yes the game has been pushed back, but this only means they are making the game better, they want to be Lag Free if possible, unlike Planetside MMOFPS.

I think this will be one of the greatest games ever made for a computer. It puts a Star Wars fan, or a curious gamer right in the movie with the freedom to do just about eveything they want to.......including building their own cities, becoming a Jedi, Bounty Hunter and lots of of classes right down to a Cook and Dancer. You can make items like Lightsabers, blasters and can choose the color of them. You smuggle cargo from planets to help your commrades in need. You can even take a group of friends out Rancor hunting. Not to mention the wonderful graphics and outstanding visual effects. These are just a small amount of things you can do in Star Wars Galaxies...
I hope this helps........I am just a kid.........
HAPPY GAMING!!

I also am a returning vet, though I returned about 2 months before the CU. I was somewhat skeptical at first, but was very open and decided to trust the "devs" for once. Honestly, for once that trust was not misplaced. I do believe that the CU (Combat Upgrade) has brought more balance to the game. The one thing I really enjoy about the CU is that people actually wear different types of armor now, as there is actually a point to doing that.
People seem to be upset about the Combat Level system that's showed up, though honestly it's always been in the background, now it's just right up front and in your face. I think it works very well, though they do need to fuss with the XP rewards still.
Grouping I have not had ANY trouble with. You just have to know where to go (Dantooin Mining Outpost usually). Unless it's 6AM I can find a group within 5 minutes, and PvE in those groups is great, and "leveling up" is fast. Also, if you want to solo... well, I recomend space (with Jump to Lightspeed Expansion).
Anyway, yeah, I think this game is pretty fun, and alot better than when I had left it at the beginning of last year. So just have fun, and don't listen to the naysayers. Try the game, and make your own decisions, don't let me or anyone else tell you what you should think. Just have fun!

No matter what everyone says, I stll LOVE this game. Let me rap up my ideas about the game.
I had a friend who had this game, who made me want to get it. There was a few things bad about that. PROBLEM #1: I would have to pay $15 a month, but this wasn't super bad. PROBLEM #2: My computer wasn't upgraded enough to play the game, so I had to buy a new computer. PROBLEM #3: I didn't have $900 for a new computer. So to everyone who complains about the $15 a month, you have nothing to complain about. To wrap it up, I got the computer, I got in $900 of debt, yada yada yada.
I started playing April 17th, 2005. I was really happy with the game until the dreaded day. April 28th, 2005. THE COMBAT UPGRADE. I really started not to like the game after that. I was only level 3 when the CU hit. So I couldn't wear my armor or use my weapons. It was bad. So, I started out, made a lot of friends. The rest just goes on until I started group hunting. Then my level skyrocketed! I am now a level 80, the highest level!
I am a leader of the guild Protectors of mechA. If you would like any info or help with the game. My player is Ceran Allain. I am a Rebel, so if you are an Imp, if you dont attack me, I will help you. I can help you with anything you need, except for killing rebels. Long Live the Rebelion!
