From what I've seen of this game, it promises to be a lot of fun for all Star Wars fans, and other MMORPG gamers. This game seriously looks addicting. Where else could you be able to customize your dream character's appearance, choose his profession, which faction he'll side with (Rebel alliance, Imperials, neutral), and then interact with other people just like you're in the Star Wars universe? However, I would have to agree with one of the other reviewers that a monthly fee to access the servers is just ludicrous. Where's the logic in shelling out...up front, and then having to continue to pay more money just to be able to play the game? When I buy a game, I expect to pay just like anybody else would; but I also expect to have the added perk to be able to play against other legal owners online without having to pay exhorbitant fees. We already have to pay for the computer, the internet, and the games. Why charge us more to play after we've already emptied our pockets? I think this all-out online game thing is a great concept, but it just isn't logical, or practical. This is one game that, sadly, I will not be purchasing anytime soon.
Must have for Star Wars fans

Star Wars Galaxies truly does give you the opportunity to live out your own Star Wars story. The customization options are extensive. Community building and role-play opportunities plentiful. SWG goes beyond just combat and truly allows you to be in the Star Wars universe in a way never before possible. I've been around since it first came out and will be from here on out. The past few publishes have really started to push the game forward in the right direction.

...I just quit playing another MMORPG, made by SoE as it were, due to balances in the game that I felt weren't being addressed. That said, I have pre-ordered this forthcoming title with hopes it will live up to it's licensing. Unfortunately, or fortunately, dependent on your viewpoint; the release date has been pushed back, to 'tweak' the experience.
I feel this MMORPG will perhaps live up to the hype that all of them have tried, true uniqueness of every character and incredible customizability.
Utilizing the most recognized license in existance, save perhaps Jesus, this game takes place long ago in a galaxy far away(yet suprisingly familiar). In the initial incarnation you'll be able to be one of eight races, following one of six career paths that lead to over 60 different jobs, each with their own special skills...and no you won't get to just 'Be' a Jedi, you have to earn it. As for the monthly fee it will probably be fifteen_us_dollars, basing this figure on everquest's thirteen
I like it

It's easy for people to complain about a change. People are afraind of change so no surprise. But this new method has made the game much more fun.
I played in original Beta and I have owned the game since day 1 and in all honesty this is the best balance there has been in this game to date and I have had much more fun in last 5 days then I have ever over last 2 years.
So big deal, some items arent valued what they were b4 update. $ isnt THAT hard to make and it is easily worth it.
For the last 2 years my choice professions have been gimped and I stuck with it because it was what I liked to be, now that I'm on a level playing field all the people "uber" are pissed off because I can beat them in PVP now with tactics instead of 1 mind shot death ... quit your complaining, if you dont like it leave then, after all its just a game. We are all here to play for fun and if your so angry and pissed off about it then you should prolly get out of the house and do something else because getting all worked up over a game is not good for you :P.
Just give it a chance and go play and have fun. Big deal, so you cant run around all "uber" and kill everything in one hit, But there are ways to make good exp. Solo or with a couple friends it is quite do-able. Just give it a chance to learn the system and you will prolly find you like it. I find it much more balanced than b4.

A lot of people, testers and developers alike, have put a lot of hard work into making this game fantastic at launch. The graphics are detailed and realistic. The skill system is layered instead of leveled, and geared so that you can only master a limited number of skills at one time. This helps with the player-driven economy. Everyone is really necessary in this game, including merchants and entertainers.
You don't have to be a Star Wars fan to love this game, but they will certainly get just a little bit more out of all the "inside jokes" around. (Look for R2 and 3PO's pod where they crash-landed on Tatooine.) MMORPG fanatics will love this too, with a new take on both combat and skills, plus a true player-driven economy.
This game is detailed, complex and richly layered. You can play solo or with a group. You won't get tired of looking at the beautiful scenery on all the different planets.
Amazing!

Look, the thing about this game is, you get out of it what you put into it. It can be frustrating at first, yes. But give it a little time and it becomes amazing, at least it did for me. It's completely immersive, to an embarassing extent. I spend my late nights galavanting across the Tatooine desert with friends and yes, Virgina, there is a Star Wars again! This is a GREAT game, despite all the whining!

This is the greatest game i have ever played. Im one of those people who usually play first person shooters, but this game is really amazing. Completey customize your character and attributes to astounding levels. Theres so much you can accomplish in this game. Curentley im an Imperial Lt. thats on a mission to destroy rebels. Massive battles for cities occur sometimes manytimes in one day. Think of 2 huge groups consisting of 30 people each come to clash together in a gigantic battle which sometimes last up to 40 minutes. At the end of the battle it might look like your loosing until one of your team mates summon his pet AT-ST walker to turn the tides of the war to your favor with ease. then your other partner calls out his 3 dark troopers to do a little bit of cleanup with the rest of the rebel scum. This game is endless and always fun!!!I really dont see why people complain so much about bugs!!! i have experianced a few bugs when i first got the game but now seems to be spotless. people who have complained in earlier reviews didnt give the game a chance at all. they probably couldnt connect like once so now there out to destroy the game reputation and its really sad. If you want a game that has endless situations this is a game for you!!!
You're really there

I bought this game the day it came out- well the collectors edition. And I've played about an average of 2+ Hours a day. I have to say, it's in my top 3 list of greatest games. It's a game that's going to have a very long life and really allows you to immerse yourself in the Star Wars galaxy.
The player to player interactions are amazing. You have such freedom to become what you want. From a merchant to Bounty Hunter to Bio-engineer. Or tame creatures, sell spice or slice and computer system. Drop a rancor with a group of friends or storm an Imperial outpost alone. HOkey religions and ancient weapons can be no match for your blaster or you can become the galaxy foremost architect. Explore strange new worlds or live it up in the big city. This game allows you to choose your own path. You can be a pure fighter or merchant or mix it up and become whatever you want.
And with the addition of monthly story lines characters who have sided with the Rebels or Imperials can actually have an effect on the course of the cival war. (A noticable effect)
So many new things are going to added to this game as time goes on. Player cities, vehicles and mounts. Who wouldn't want to fly a swoop or ride a dewback...?
Plus the big expansion, SPACE.
I totally recommend this game to any one.
Still enjoy even after playing for 8 months

I still enjoy playing this game, even after playing it for 8 months. There may be a lot of bugs and such, but it doesn't stop me from having a good time. I think too many people expect too much from some games and let the little things bother them too much.
I'll admit that after about a month of playing, I quit for about a month as it was starting to get "boring" for me, but that was because I was trying to rush through the game and unlock my Jedi slot. Then when I started to play again, I realized that the other professions in the game were actually fun if you took the time to actually play them for fun and not play them to get the Jedi slot. I'd still like to unlock the Jedi slot someday, but for now, I'm just going to take my time going through the Professions and if/when I unlock the Jedi slot, then it will be a pleasant surprise!
Also, in all honesty, I'd rather pay $15/month to play this game then to waste another $40-50 on the next WWII shooter (like Battlefield 1942, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, etc). While they may be fun for a little while as well, they are all pretty much the same thing - how many Axis/Allies can I pick-off today? I am especially looking forward to the upcoming expansion pack, Jump to Lightspeed, as I've always liked to use a joystick to take command of a craft.
With all that said, even with the bugs that pop up every now and then, I would still recommend this game to anyone.
playing the classic battles, with new created players!!!

If you love the Star Wars saga, story, game, charecters and everything about the infamous industry, which i'm sure you'll love, then this game is a must buy. Unlike other games, this one takes us back to the great epical battle times, where charecters like Darth Vader and Boba Fett where huge, or chose your charecter in the massive war and play as a Bounty Hunter, a Machine, a Jedi, an alien or a profession of over 30 playable created charecters, plus you can create your very own charecter and engage in the ever long lasing Star Wars battle for good or evil, your choice to be a villan or a hero.
Another great aspect of this game, you can clash with any other created charecter online from around the world, either Japan, America, United Kingdom, europe, Asia, Africa or Australia, your opponent will be online 24/7 live. This game has taken over 6 years of the actual based story to be published, with over unlimited gameplay, every accessible interactive area, including all licsensed planets are over 200 original chareters and species.
This is the ultimate Star Wars gameplay, the classic years and legendary charecters, storylines are there, including new twists, plus the online mode allows you to react with other charecters to meet up and create armies to battle against other elite online gamers, suit up, enhance your martial arts skill, create forces, either evil or good, and start the ever long lasting battle for good.
The best in the Star Wars series. 9.0/10.
