That what pretty much describes this game. Pure 100% garbage, trash-junk how much junk when the orginal box set is now under $5 bucks that is pretty much talking volumes. The The Total Experience is for some odd reason now over $60. and the Star Kit $15. SOE can make all the changes they want, just they better not except people to put and pay for trash. There products are simply not worth the time, grief and grind time anymore. Once upon a time this was a very unique game-nothing but junk. The time for SWG is pretty much over-the only way that SOE maybe able to save this game, if they swallow there pride, there stupidty and go back to the orginal format, but that will create a new problem. For those who did it with the CU and the NGE assuming the game is around that long. Leave it to SOE to put themselves into a catch 22 either way there going to lose.
Crossing the lines of ethics...

To give you an idea of how bad this game is now...
I bought it almost 3 years ago for $80. You can now get a copy used for under $5. Sad VERY sad.
Sony has had to remind the community that, "(they) reserve the right to change the game to ANY degree, at ANY time and without reason." I never thought I would have to worry about a clause like that...Well I was wrong.
I played for almost 3 years. Everything I worked for in game was wiped away with their "New Enhancements". The game has been completely revamped...not even the same game I bought originally. The game is unstable, full of bugs so bad that you can't get past several missions, you get stuck UNDER buildings or inside objects, the animations often mess up, specials only fire about 1/2 the time, Some force powers just don't work at all,...the list goes on.
The revamp came because the previous game had a hand full of minor bugs. Instead of fixing them they decided to revamp it and repackage it in an attempt to, quite honestly, gain more sales. In my opinion what they have done crosses the line of good business ethics and morals.
They insist that the changes are good for everyone...judging by the light and very light servers "everyone" didn't want THESE changes. IN FACT the community forums listed many great ideas on fixes and great directions for the future of the game. Most of those people are gone now.
BUT PLEASE if you have read these reviews and you STILL want to try it..WAIT. Download the free trial first. Don't waste your money here.
***Keep in mind any progress you make made be wiped away at any time with OR without reason.

Nuf said this has become the worst online game of all and current players have been duped for a second time - SOE have alot ot answer for and the game has major issues not catering for the disabled or the ill sighted - i feel it will be a matter of time before the game is called in to question.

I am (was) a veteran SWG player. I used to love the game. I was totally addicted. The game used to have great character uniqueness, hybrid classes, player driven economy, long-term goals, customizable UI, and a lot more.
Now? It is a broken game, not even worth being called in "beta" stage. SOE/LEC decided to push the NGE live on the 15th of December, without much prior notice (only 14 days). Customers paid for a game that has been secretly developed parallel to the existing SWG. Customers are _still_ paying for a game most cannot/do not want to play anymore, because even though the subscriptions are cancelled, some might run out in a few months.
We, as the players, were being constantly lied to, and while we were still asked to provide feedback about SWG, they developed an entirely new, dumbed down game. SOE/LEC has yet to apologize for the hours and hours spent on the game, which have all turned worthless and pointless. Prepare to start over from scrap in 6 months if you do decide to try this game. They will not care, but even worse, will tell you how "exciting" and "fun" this new game will be.
A few of the "great" changes: no hybrid classes, 9 dumbed down professions, complicated and restricted UI, sped up unrealistic movement and animations, no respec, ruined player economy, no item decay, ruined entertainer/crafter, jedi weakest class in game, no new content after cl 30, no long term goals after cl 90, bugs, bugs, and more bugs....
Two main reasons I left the game:
a) Worst Customer Service ever.
b) The New SWG (NGE) is not friendly for disabled players anymore. Unless you have two perfectly funcioning hands and absolutely no visual impairment, you cannot play this game. The animations/movement are extremely sped up, and very irritating, and can give problems (headache, nausea, ...). To control your toon, for example when fighting, you always need the mouse, as well as the keyboard (best would be 3 hands if you actually want to survive in combat).
I am hugely disappointed in SOE and LEC. Absolutely sad to have seen such a great game gone to waste.
Worst game ever - DO NOT BUY

They made a trial and a tutorial that seems nice but the real game is 100% broken. Game is just about unplayable. The makers of the game, SOE and LA, say it will be months before it is playable. But they still charge you $15 a month to play an unplayable game.
Check all the game review sites. They all say this is the worste MMORPG in the history of online games.
Stay away

I played this game for more than 14 months. This amounts to a total of 284.99 when you add in the cost of the game and the JTL expansion. After the recent in-game combat update, a software update which changed how the game is played, I cancelled my account. Not only that, but I managed to get customer service to pro-rate my account and give me a refund for the time un-used. This is actually against their supposed policy, but let anyone know that they can do it and they do give refunds. So when you consider the purchase of SWG, just think about this, there is a petition available at www.swgpetition.com with more than 16,000 signatures on it demanding the game go back the way it was. So please, be smart with your money, go play something else!

This game is terrible. Extremly poor Customer Service. Total unplayable. Released with so many bugs it is nearly impossible to find any portion of the game that is in working order. The worst mmorpg release to date. A game that could have been very good just totally demolished. Save yourself alot of frustration just send SOE [the money] and go see a movie. Trust me you will thank me if you do. It flat [stinks]
Fails to live up to the hype

Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided is based on the Star Wars movies we have all come to know and love. The idea is that you can immerse yourself in the Star Wars universe and be like Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and other Star Wars characters in the movies. If you participate in the Galactic Cival War and join the Rebellion or the Empire, you can engage other living players in combat. You can explore 10 planets from the Star Wars universe, interact with the enviornment, and fight computer controlled oponents like creatures, stormtroopers, etc.
The problem is that the game does not feel like Star Wars. Nor is the game immersive. There is no emmersion because the same computer controlled characters appear randomly in front of you again and again. You have no control over what appears in front of you and when it appears. Its all random. The game is boring because you have to do many repetitive uninteresting tasks in the game so your character can advance enough for you to be able do the supposedly fun things you want to do.
Player versus player combat is seldom fun. Its usually a chaotic mess of players fighting each other in a melee that you cant make heads or tails out of. Only the most advanced computers can stay connected to the game servers under the strain of internet latency this cuases.
There are many bugs in the game that are not fixed. Game breaking bugs that will aggrivate you and cause you to waste time. The internet latency in some parts of the game are impossible for some computers to withstand.
The only good thing this game has going for it is the graphics. This game has possibly the best graphics of any massive multiplayer game in the market today.
SWG well planned and thought out.

I have recently had a chance to read some of thew reviews on here and am very disappointed in the short-sightedness of the individuals writing them. Yes, perhaps there will not be MCS (Multi-character servers), but this is necessary for release. This is one the most highly anticipated games EVER, and being such, they will need to minimize bandwidth in order to keep prices down on the various servers they will offer.
I have also seen a lot of complaints regarding the poor service of the company that will be overseeing these servers. Keep in mind, this is a LucasArts game. Lucas and his team will make sure this is successful. Everything Lucas touches is gold, this will be no different.
A lot of people like to complain about the fact that they won't be able to start the game as a Jedi. Take a second and think to yourself, "How many Jedi were in the original trilogy?" The answer was fairly low, six to be exact. The Emperor, Vader, Luke, Leia (Not really trained), Yoda and Obi-Wan. Six out of all the characters you see. Being Force sensitive is rare, and as such you should feel lucky that they even included a feature to eventually allow you to become a Jedi.
Good luck and enjoy the game for what it is....a masterpiece.
