I have to say this game is AWESOME. There are so many choices on your character looks and types. Then there are too many choices on your characters professions and skills. I have been playing SWG for a week now and I really enjoy it. I play a few hours a day and wish I could play more. If you are thinking about getting this game, DO IT. You will not be disappointed at all. I am completely satisfied and would highly recommend this game to anyone who is looking for an adventure and just a great time. I hope to see you in the game.

From what I have seen and have read from the official reviews and from what I have heard by a friend of mine that is working on the game, it will be graphically beautiful, the mechanics sound and the theme close to what we expect from a SW universe.
Unfortunately, I do not believe we have the technology at present to do justice to a SW universe, which is evident by what this game is able to offer. There is no real galaxy to explore, no extensive space flight, no space combat. This game will have a very similar feel as Anarchy Online.
I think the game is being developed and release prematurely and will just be a cash-cow driven by fans expecting something they wont really get. We are probably around five years too early in developing a game of its scope, which is unfortunate since its early development will mean we will probably never see what it could have been.
I think the game will disappoint as much as the recent movies, Lucas has gone a long way to destroying what has been much loved about Star Wars, that is a quality story, universe and theme with alot of depth and imagination.
I recommend people that purchase the game do so with little to no real expectation, that way you probably wont be disappointed. I believe the people at SOE have done as good a job as possible, but there are some things that shouldn't be done unless you can give it the justice it deserves.
Good for Hardcore SW fans, most should keep looking

I've always liked the SW universe. I learned to hate EQ and UO. This game captures too little of the flavor of the first and far too much of the flavor of the 2nd. Approx 1/3 of classes available involve you standing in place and pressing a key over and over, with little thrill of adventure. YOu can play a bounty hunter, or a Rebel fighter. But the designers have also calculated, to minute detail, how you could also be a doctor (who cannot leave the hospital). Or a musician (who cannot leave the hotel or bar). Or a clockmaker (who is tied to the big crafting machines). Rather than spending so much energy implementing these classes, I would have far rather had ship-based combat. Ah well. I have only played the beta, but I have played for about a month now and have yet to feel anything like fighting in the Star Wars universe. It's EQ in space, where instead of vendors, you have player crafters for your neads.
Buyers should excercise caution with upcoming game

Ahh yes, a new Star Wars RPG. Everybody's excitied. The previous reviewer mentioned being immortalized. Well, guys, you're up for a disappointment.
Aren't you forgetting how these things work? You think this will be free to play? No! Don't forget the purpose of games: to make money. As will it be with this.
An Empire Divided will milk money from your pocketbook. The more you want to play, the more you have to pay. These games fail. They always do. They're designed that way. Yes, it's beautiful in concept. Yes, it should totally rock.
But it wont. It will be just like all the other star wars games of late - mass produced and cheap. The only good one is Jedi Knight II, but that's because it has a history. It has a family. This game is just another lucasarts sale ticket.
Let me tell you what will happen. You will come home with this new game. You will be totally excited at the new shiny box, brandishing all the latest in graphics and reading all sorts of good reviews. You will play it for a while, get immersed.
Boom, your trial period is up. Now, each month it's time to pay your star wars tax. Is a computer game worth re-buying each month? For the same money you could but two or three new star wars novels, or even better play Jedi Knight II, or join an online star wars text based RPG. You see, those games are made FOR fans, this game is made FOR money.
I urge caution with this game. It may look nice now, but it's simply playing off the success of the hastily made star wars prequils. It's a hype sucker, and it will suck the hype right out of you as you put it in a drawer and don't look at it for months.

Seriously, just from what i've read about this game, it looks poised to become the best mmorpg on the market. I'm currently playing Anarchy Online since it's the only real alternative to the glut of fantasy games of this genre on the market. AO is an ok game, but it still suffers from the same problems as every other mmorpg.....camping, rabid PK'ers who don't seem to understand that you don't want to pvp, and item mad power gamers who have to twink themselves silly. SW:G sounds like it could really be the alternative for those of us who want a little more from a game like this. A player based economy, player run towns, dynamic spawns, item decay, and my personal favorite.....no levels. You improve your character by improving his skills, of which I've read there will be many, from mining to animal handling, tatooing to administration. I know where i'm going to be spending lots of my time in the future.
One character per server

Although this may be a game based on Star Wars I will not buy it if there is only one character allowed per server.
With a single PC able to run this game, this means I cannot share my account on the same server with my son. No trading/sharing of items, no grouping with the same friends.
A very poor business decision, please be aware if you were going to preorder this game.

As a Beta Tester of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided I can only say that it is indeed a nice game, but Not What you exepected ...
Sure is has the best graphics of all MMORPG (and you will run them at 11fps even with a Top PC system), sure the sound Is great but Its Not Star Wars as you would wish it to be ...
The Combat is tedious ("for newbies to play" they say), the missions are simple and they all look the same (destroy a Camp/hive, escort Him from point X to point Z, go to point X, pickup a package and deliver it to point Z).
The game just dosent feel right (a laser based blaster has a maximum range of 64 meters).
oh well, it's a good game, they say it's the best MMORPG ever made, If so is true then I don't even dare to play the other MMORPG games ...

First, there are vehicles... but not when it was first released - which speaks to the fact that SWG is undergoing constant development, which is refreshing to see a great game constantly being added to and made even richer. I got my swoop bike two days ago, to replace my trusted kaadu beast mount. I'm here to buy 2 more sets of the game, one for my daughter to join her dad in conquering the galaxy, and 1 to set up shop with another character type in the same galaxy server. There is too much going on in this game to go into here... it is nothing short of an amazing experience. One of the standout elements of the game is the players... as a new player being dropped into a rich, complex reality, players are always on hand to assist when asked, to help you get going, and to answer questions about any of the elements of gameplay. Counterstrike, Quake, Half Life, goodbye. This is the game I'll be playing for years now.
Love it or hate it

This is a game that people either love or hate. If you are looking for a role playing sci-fi game this is the game for you. If you are into more traditional MMORPG games where you hack and kill constantly this may not be for you. The game does not have shops that sell things you will need and do not have monsters drop uber armor and weapons. You MUST deal with other players to buy and sell things. There is a real working economy with prices on some things going up as demand allows and others with prices falling as supplies grow. Many of the professions do not require any fighting at all to advance to the top. Entertainers dance, play music and design visual effects to advance. Doctors heal. Architects make buildings, weaponsmiths make weapons (and unlike most MMORPGS, the game does not compete with the in game crafter - the game does not sell weapons or give them away with drops from kills).
It is truely a role playing game which is the source of it's rabid fans and equally rabid detractors. Many people love the real economy but some hate that they have to make what other people want instead of making whatever the person wishes to make. There is no market for anything if other players don't want to buy it.
Will Be Great!

I've been in happy anticipation for this game for a year! Recently with the Beta Tests, there giving us all information about how INCREDIBLY SWEET this game will be! For those of you Star Wars fans (heck, you'll like it even if you're not) check out [web page] to see just how good it is. There is only one problem, they're having some problems in Beta 1 so the game isn't expected to release until after Christmas, which is MAJOR bum. I feel it would make all the difference if it was under my tree than on a game shelf, but I don't want the game to be defected or anything, so I guess it's OK....
