Game is broken, support is non-existent, Star Wars deserves a better MMO. In-depth content is not there, unless you consider a few lines of text of some interest.
Grab a Star Wars book, or go watch the movies again...you are better off.
Totally Wrecked

The developers managed to take a fairly fun game for me (even after about 2 years of play) and botch it up. I have a jedi and I cant even bring myself to play anymore. I have given it a couple of days but I dont see it working out anymore. XP gains are super low and you will use most of your health or force pool to kill 1 npc or creature now. SWG used to be unique. The combat system used to be different from all the other games and now it's just another in a long list of rehashes. Star Wars name or not it's just garbage now and it's a shame.
This is the worst game I've ever played.

I had been playing this game since beta, so I knew what issues to expect. Some of them even faded into the background and I don't even pay attention to them anymore, but since beta, this game has gotten WORSE.
First of all, my computer crashes every time I sign out or get disconnected to the game (which happens two or three times a day). On top of that, it crashes about three to five times before I can sign in. That means that on an average day, my computer crashes about 6 times a day.
On top of that, I've been building my character since release. I'm a smuggler, and so I had a bunch of resources in my house to make spice. I'd spent a week collecting all sorts of things, copper, wheat, gas, so on and so forth, and probably had about 20k units total in the house. That's enough to make enough spice to last Jabba a year.
Well, when I signed in this morning, the house and everything in it was gone.
But wait, it gets worse: No one would help me.
The troubleshooting room, which is purportedly open from 9 am to 9 pm PDT never has anyone there. When I finally went there and someone was there, they were having server issues so there were about 200 people there. The CSR that was in there FINALLY addressed my issue after about fifteen minutes of small talk (yes, he did discuss the weather and his thoughts about being a CSR--he wasn't even helping other people) and dismissed it as something trivial. He thought I'd just made the house. No, no, CSRKeithR, I've had the house for about two weeks now.
I tried to talk to the live online chat and the phone people but both told me they were for technical issues only. I sent in a bug report via their bug reporting tool, and I opened a customer service ticket. I sent an email, and there has been absolutely no response.
EVERYTHING I've built up has just poofed into thin air. And instead of them being apologetic and falling all over themselves, they've ignored me. Basically the past three weeks don't exist for my character. All I have to show for it is experience points and a title, which doesn't go very far. Sure, I can slice stuff, but I need tools to do that, and if all the tools and things to make the tools are gone, well ... I can't make it.
I've spent more time being irate at this shoddily put together game than I have actually playing it. The only reason it got released so soon was because George Lucas was counting his money before it rolled in. I would suggest that you do NOT buy this game and do NOT give him more reason to release even more awful products.
This is a far cry from the amazing movies made twenty five years ago. George Lucas should be ashamed to have his name attached to it.
I'm a beta tester

This game is great, the beta testing is coming along. As soon as 30 ppl expirence the same they make a new patch. They have only released about 7 patches. There aren't many problems with the game. When it come out it will work flawlessly, I'm connecting with a dial-up and have no problem with lag of any kind. Its in the way the game is designed. I wish there was a rating higher then 5 stars...
I think it's time for Sony to give us some answers...

I remember seeing Star Wars in the movie theater in 1977 - I was hooked from that first viewing. I remember collecting Star Wars figures, Star Wars trading cards, Star Wars ships/vehicles, etc. I remember seeing The Empire Strikes Back in the movie theater. I remember seeing Return of the Jedi in the theater. For many of us, Star Wars has been a passion and source of happiness....and then came SWG: An Empire Divided.
I'm not sure I've ever been this angry and disappointed over a game. How could LucasArts ALLOW such a disasterous release of maybe the most highly recognized movie series in the history of film? I think it's time we, as the gaming community got some answers.
1. What was the hurry? Were your programming buildings wired with bombs that would explode if you didn't release it by July?
2. How could you be so ill prepared for service issues? I've seen/experienced some bumpy game implementations, but this takes the cake.
and finally...
3. How could you be so CARELESS with the Star Wars title? Star Wars is not a fad, fly-by-night title or splash in the pan (although your handling of the game release could result in this being a splash in the pan). I would have taken more pride in releasing a polished game that would blow everyone away - not one that is so offensively off the mark it's DRIVING everyone away.
I know I do not speak for all, but I believe I speak for most. The time to answer is now.
what the heck

Two years ago when I purchased the game, it had absolutly amazing graphics. Players enjoyed a wide variety of professions, one could be an crafter, fighter, Doctor, even a Jedi (with much hard work), and could even mix up the professions a bit to make a custom character to suit ones needs. Now there are only 9 professions, including Jedi, players once having selected the profession of choice are forvermore stuck in that class.
Scale of 1-10
Graphics: 9
User interface: 1
RPG Genre theme: 3 (this game is more FPS than RPG)
Customer Support: 1 (customer support fails in all respects)
with all the other RPGs out on the market now, no need to waste money on this one.
The game is over...

Do not purchase this game. Sony Online Entertainment is the Nazis of the gaming industry and they have destroyed the good Star Wars name. I have played SWG(Star Wars Galaxies) since day one. I mastered 6 professions and unlocked Jedi post CU(combat ungrade). If you have read any other posts you probably already know about the total revamp that SWG has just undergone. This is not a MMORPG anymore, its a MMORPS(massively multiplayer online first person shooter). They (SOE) have lied about their intentions and kept the veterans players around just long enough to get an expansion (Trials of Obiwan) purchase then they announced the NGE(New Game Enhancements). This was a complete dupe and they know it. Some vets signed up for a years subscription right before they announced the changes and now SOE won't refund their money. Think about that for a second. You sign up to play a RPG game then, without warning the game is changed to a RPS over-night. This is unbelieveable and totally irresponsible on the part of SOE and Lucas Arts. Lawsuits have been suggested and may actually have a leg to stand on this time.
This is not the first time SOE has done this. The CU was unwelcomed and unloved, but the basic game was the same and the vets learned to play in groups and have fun. The "turn based" combat system that was the original method of fighting was basically intact. The crafters and other noncombat professions where left alone. This time they changed everything from combat to crafting to creature handling. Most of the professions have been completely deleted. Now think about this, you work on a toon(in game personality) for a year or so. Grinding the low levels, buying the items you need and spending lots of real world time developing your toon. Now, you have spent all this time and money(subscription fees)and are a master creature handler able to tame the mighty rancor like a little dog! Pretty cool right. The next day you logon and find out your toons profession is going to be removed in two weeks! How would that make you feel. Two weeks of notice for a years worth of work. Good times, I think not!
In conclusion, stay away from all SOE products, EQ, Planetside, Matrix online and any others you see. SOE is the worst company that has ever produced a MMO and will continue to listen to small focus groups and the all mighty dollar seeking board of directors that care only for what might be the next big thing, no matter who gets smashed in the processed.
