THIS GAME IS GREAT I BEEN PLAYING FOR HOURS AND IT JUST TO GOOD. THE CONTROLS ARE GREAT EVEN THOUGH I'M MOSTLY USE TO DUAL ANALOG. THE TRANSITIONS OF THE LEVELS ARE GREAT THE WAY IT CHANGES FROM CLOSED LEVELS TO REALLY OPEN AREAS IS COOL AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE BALL IS JUST COOL WITH THE BOMB JUMP AND PUZZLE LIKE QUALITIES AT SOME POINTS. BUT ONE THING David from Allentown, PA United States YOU SHOULD DO YOUR RESEARCH ABOUT PERFECT DARK. Over at [a leading game reviews site], it is ranked as the second best game of all time, second only to Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Go to cube.ign.com, click on reviews, and read the one about Metroid Prime. It got a 9.8 out of 10. This score is higher than any other game on Xbox or PS2. It's higher than Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Splinter Cell. The Platinum Gamecube bundle + Metroid game is the perfect gift.

This game is simply amazing. The graphics are the second best of any system ever (second to resident evil.) The guns are so fun also, and every aspect of the game is filled with an overwhelmingly polished feel. For example, Samus's face will show in the visor at certain moments. The enemies are the best designs I have seen since the goomba and koopa. With 3 different perspectives, (1st, 3d, and 2d) the camera is perfect. The dungeons are so amazingly designed, you will be able to explore for months on end.
Go out and buy this game if you have a cube, If you don't, buy a cube and metroid bundle from amazon.com
I would give this game six stars if I could!

Now if that review title doesn't make you want this title then I'm going to have to try harder. To start with, this is in my opinion, one of the greatest video games ever created. And by the end of this review, I believe you will agree.
This game has been a long time in the coming that much is for sure. 8 years of waiting for the fans of the series, and finally the sequel (of sorts) to one of the greatest games on the SNES, Super Metroid has arrived. I said sequel of sorts because this game is more of a gap filler than a true sequel, as this game slots in between the original two Metroid games. Another point of controversy about the game is its transition, not only to 3D, but also to first-person view. This feature was at first shunned by most Metroid fans, however after playing this game, it is clear that it not only works, but is almost revolutionary when combined with the Visor that you look through. All claims that the game would be hindered but first-person view have now truly died. But now, let's get down into the nitty gritty of the game.
Firstly I would like to make a mention of this games phenomenal graphics which simply astounded me once I turned on my GameCube. They are more polished than I had ever imagined, and I doubted that they could compare to what Microsoft's Halo accomplished, but they have in my opinion, and even surpassed it. There is just such incredible detail put into the graphic aspect of this game and everything looks different, there has not been a single room within this game that has seems the same. And the so-called jaggies in some games are practically non-existent here. This games graphics have a very authentic and original feel, and somehow alien. It is almost scary how much atmosphere Retro Studios have injected into this game through it's graphics alone.
Musically speaking, this is almost as good as it gets. There are a number of unsettling tracks in this game and all of them are very well produced, and delivered thanks to Dolby Pro Logic II support. Some of the tracks have a very organic feel to them, whilst others sound literally out of this world. There is a lot of variety here and a lot of remixed, original Metroid tunes, which is a very good thing. Sound effects are also very plentiful and well designed. Everything sounds different, beam weapons each have a different sound when fired and each monster has a different noise... Just incredible when you consider how many different creatures there are in this game. But the list goes on and on. There is just too much to say when it comes to this game presentation value.
At first the controls of the game might cause a few problems for experienced FPS players. However after a short while of using them, they become very natural and almost second nature unlike other games when you are in the middle of a battle and forget which button to press. Each button on the GameCube's controller is utilised and it is incredible how much control you actually do have. There is no better way to say it, but these controls are to die for.
The majority of the game is spent scanning the environment around you to pick up clues as to what has happened before Samus Aran arrives and this is done through activating one of your additional Visors. And there is just so much background info within the scans, it's freaky. Now Visors play a major role in the game and there are four in total for you to obtain: Combat Visor, Scanning Visor, Thermal Visor and X-Ray Visor. Each of these allows you a new view to look through and find secrets about your environment with. Each Visor is incredibly detailed and very functional.
But there is also an equal amount of Combat involved in the game to keep you on your toes through out. Battling is very easy thanks to the lock on targeting integrated into the game, which is both seamless and never hinders the game play. And this game features some of the greatest boss battles to ever grace a title. Simply breathtaking.
This game serves up over 20 hours of playtime for the causal gamer (according to my total time of game play), but perhaps a little less for the hardcore gaming population. There is just so much to explore in this game and it's easily one of the longest experiences to be had on the GameCube. There is no multi-player mode, but in a way that is a good thing because Metroid has always been about single player, and the feeling of isolation. This is not only a must have title for fans of the series but also every other GameCube owner! Buy this game today.

This game took 3 years to make, and 5 years just to get started, so of course you have to expect near the best ever from it. It has awesome graphics, excellent sound, and the best first-person controls I've ever seen, this game is extremely fun, and addictive. When you just begin playing, you're just thinking,"Yeah, this game is alright, but I just don't see why its so good yet!" Then when you decide you're done, you can't even put the controller down! So you keep playing and don't realize just how much fun you really are having until you've had it a few weeks or a month even. I suggest this game to anyone who has a GameCube and likes original Nintendo games. NOTE: This is NO first-person shooter! This has very, very hard puzzles, and that and the story is what the game is based on. You're arm cannon is just a defense, like Link's sword.
