In Metroid Prime you will explore the world of Tallon IV as lead character Samus Aran, chasing down the evil Space Pirates.
It has emmersive gameplay not to mention the amazing graphics, sound, and replay value this game offers. Don't be fooled by the other reviews here that say it is a shoot-em-up first person shooter such as halo, it is an adventure set in the first person perspective, a first in it's kind. One of the great things about this game is that in the beginning you will be taunted by the many passages and tracks that you will not be able to access until you aquire the necessary equipment. There is no other game that can match the rewarding feeling of accessing new areas and getting new equipment for your arsenal from all of your hard work...
This is the BEST game I've ever played on Gamecube

This Game is just amazing. It's the best one i've ever expierenced playing on the Gamecube console. I mean, what can be better to do in your spare time than to blow up monsters, kill parasites, freeze enimies, roll up into small (but not to mention deadly) balls, and fire missles straight into your opponents' face and watch it blow up? Nothing? Well, that's what i thought. The suits are awesome, the graphics are amazing, and all the abilities to scan objects, lock-on targets, charge up your gun (as in the popular Super Smash Bros. Melee), and switch weapons in a sec are sweet. The helmet/ first-person view is the best because you have all your weapon choices, map, and grappling devices are right in front of you. the controls can take a little getting used to, but after a good 30 minutes or so, you'll find them easy. In my opinion, GET THE GAME!!!! I promise you won't regret it!
Takes all the great stuff about 2d into a FPS

I had Fusion (great game!) before I got this and thought how are they going to do this as a First Person Shooter. The only thing Fusion and Prime have in common is the main character. You don't hang from ledges or climb up walls in Prime like in Fusion. And you don't have the AWESOME targeting system in Fusion like in Prime. These are two completely differnt games. Even though they were released at the same time. Anyway the targeting system, if the enemy is within you're field of view you push a button and it autolocks on to the enemy. If there is more then one it locks on to the closest. As you kill each enemy the target lock moves to the next enemy. This also carries on the Metroid tradition of you could just run though the game and win, or you could explore find secret power-ups. If you have a Cube and want to see what it is capable of graphically get this game.

This is a perfect example of why the Nintendo Gamecube has the potential to be the best gaming platform of the three dominant sytems at this time. Not only is Metroid s very fun game, it is original and the visual and lighting effects are the best of it's time. It is a first person shooter set on one of the most powerful titles of all time: Metroid. One of the best features is the first person perspective through the visor, which you can switch to thermal and x-ray visors as you advance throughout the game, the same with the arm cannon. One of the obvious high points of this game is the graphics. This 128 bit game has some the best resolutions and lighting effects of any game ever created. If you don't believe me, look at some of the screenshots of the morph ball. The pictures speak for themselves. In addition to all of that, if you have a GBA link cable, GBA, and Metroid fusion you can upload goodies such as the original Metroid that debuted on NES. I highly reccomend this game to anybody who enjoys action based first person shooters and/or any of the Metroid series.

This game has awsome graphics and great gameplay. In some levels it gets confusing (well maybe just for me) but it has a jamesbond first person feel just with Samus. All I have to say is BUY THIS GAME. IT ROCKS!!

This game is perhaps the hardest game I've ever played. I love all of the Metroid games but I think this is the best one of all! I'd recommend this game to everyone who likes a good challenge.
Fun at first...

But repitition, predictablity, and tedious backtracking eventually kill the experience. I would have to revisit any given area literally more than a dozon times in my journey through the game. Not fun. With the world this tightly packed, it never really feels as if the player is really exploring.
Simply overated.
the best game

Period.
I've played Halo, Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2, Half-Life, etc. but nothing really comes close to the combination of atmosphere, sound, graphics (and not just the standard "Look at the number of polygons on the screen!" type graphics, but the little things like raindrops on your visor, and seeing your reflection in your visor during a bright explosion), and wonderful gameplay. The controls do take a bit to get used to, but this is probably because Metroid is my first and only GameCube game, so I'm learning the controls and learning the game at the same time. I've been playing it for about an hour and just getting used to how it plays. This is the first game in a long, long time that made me want to skip work and just play all day long.
same old Metroid goodness!

I first played Metroid when it came out. I was about 9 or 10 at the time. At first I was confused at the strange concepts it presented, such as a level-less world, unusual enemies, and music that sounded good even for a Nintendo. I think my favorite part about it was the similarities to the Alien movies. I had never seen such a huge game take place on just one level, and the game had it's own type of genuinely surreal atmosphere that was impossible to reproduce on other games.
Prime recreates all that, and then some. Fans will be unbelievably pleased at how true this game is to the rest of the series. It takes place between Metroid 1 and Metroid 2, so younger gamers that never got to play the first one will be able to get a handle on the story from the beginning (if that kind of initiative is still left in kids today...). The game is not seperated into levels (that was a great fear lingering in our heads), so you can still go anywhere you want anytime you want. I'm still looking for secret areas now.
Now for the big secret, I'm sure many of you have heard, if you have Prime and Fusion (for Advance), and have beaten both of them, you can not only use Samus's Fusion armor in Prime, but you can access the original NES game. I've no idea how to do this stuff - I don't have an Advance, but I think it's worth mentioning, since Metroid has been famous for its secrets hidden stuff.
It's only missing one thing - EVERY Metroid game has come out directly after a new Alien movie. Now, this is entirely understandable, since there is no Alien 5 yet (I think that's why they left Prime between the first two games, so that in case an Alien 5 DOES come out, they can have room for a real Metroid 5). But think about it: every Metroid game has plot elements that take after the respective Alien movie. If you want to see some real detail about it, go to the Features section of the Metroid Database website. There's a whole list comparing game-to-movie.
So of course I recommend this game! It'll please old Metroid veterans with a new challenge (see if it's got any Secret Worlds or Wall-door techniques :-P), and get new fans into the series.
