Metroid Prime is, hands down, the best game for Gamecube. Is it perfect? No its not, but why should it be? As long as it is not flawless, then it provides room for improvement the next time around. And the game is nearly perfect anyway. Sure the textures don't look so great up close. Yes, the controls are not in the "dual-analog" set up. So what? This is the FIRST time Metroid has gone 3-D. I'm sure there was plenty of flack aimed at Super Mario 64 when it first came out because it wasn't like Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario World. You had to collect Stars istead of getting from point "A" to "B". There were NO Magic Mushrooms or FireFlowers. But it was (and still is) a great game. Metroid has been recreated in glorious 3-D, and it will improve just as Super Metroid improved on Metroid 1 and 2.
Not quite "Game of the Year"

As soon as I heard the reviews for Metroid Prime I knew I wanted a GameCube. They said the graphics were superb, the sound was excellent, and the gameplay experience was unparalled. But when I actually got the game and system for Christmas I found out that I set my expectations both too high and too low for this blockbuster game licensed by Nintendo.
To start, I thought that the graphics were good. As a game developer myself, I could spot the imperfections, but the use of shaders and realistic visor effects (raindrops, Samus' reflection, etc.) made me feel truely immersed in the game.
As far as sound goes I enjoyed the eerie sound effects and techno-creapy sci-fi music that was perfectly placed in the background (just where itsould be).
Finally, gameplay wise I liked the mix of genres (FPS and Adventure), but the missplacing of save points and enemie unfairness made me feel like I had to repeat steps too many times (I'm still on the final boss: "Metroid Prime," and he is really tough).
All in all I must say this is a good game for fans of the series, but don't play it expecting a fair fight with the badies.
Awesome

I have played the metroid series my whole life and i have to say that Metroid Prime is the best game ever! Even though i like it i do realize that some people are too impatient with certain games like metroid prime and won't play it if it is to hard, and i respect that. If you aren't too impatient with video games then buy this!
If there's a better game, I haven't played it

Wow. Just when you thought Nintendo would never come out with a good game again, they put out this baby. This game is the only reason I have a GameCube. People seem to be emphasizing the graphics more than anything in this game, and yes, the graphics are amazing. But the graphics account for none of the reason why I love this game so much. I would play it day in and day out even if the graphics sucked- they're just a bonus that makes it even cooler.
From the first part of this game, I could tell that it was going to have some great puzzles mixed in with all the action, and it is. What's great about this game is that it takes a long time to beat, which means you can enjoy it for even longer. This game is not easy, but it is TOO easy, because if the puzzles and combat were a little more challenging, I would be able to prolong my sublime experience with this game. After I beat it I'll be sure to play on hard mode, which is allegedly the reward for beating the game. For most games, I'd dismiss "hard mode" as a kind of lame bonus, but really I can't wait for this one. This is one of those games that doesn't try to be anything that it shouldn't be. There is no 2P option, because it would be pointless. It wouldn't be any fun with the lock-on, and it would detract from the seriousness of the game. Metroid Prime is not just a game, it's a work of art, and it's not going to let something like a 2P mode besmirch (what a great word) it. Hard mode is the only other thing I'd want to do with this game after finishing it- do it all over again with more of a challenge.
When I play this game, I don't feel like my purpose is to go shoot some space pirates and have a little fun: I'm absorbed. I feel like I'm saving the world. This is the only video game I've ever played that doesn't make me feel lazy. So scanning and other aspects of the game that can maybe be a little tedious just add to the whole thing. As for the control, of course it's complicated. That's part of the fun. How else would the game fit in so many options? Charge beam, wave beam, ice beam, missile, super missile, morph ball, morph ball bomb, boost ball, spider ball, combat visor, scan visor, thermal visor, x-ray visor, grapple beam- you gotta use 'em all.
the coolest game ever!!!!!!!

This game is awesome!!! You can fight and use guns!!! And it as all the action you can get!!! There is no other game like it!!!! That's what makes it cool!! Even the sound of the game makes you want it!!!!!! And it is suitable for children! But it should not be rated T. I mean it's not that bad. But the game makes you have to think, that what I like about it! I wish I had 10000000 games of metroid games!!!!

I can't believe how amazingly beautiful Metroid Prime is. From the sound of the snow crunching under your boots to the seemingly endless passages of the Chozo ruins to that unreal shot inside the wrecked ship (go to the entrance in ball form and let yourself drop. It's a huge rush watching yourself fall), it's all incredible.
I finally finished MP yesterday, then went back and began again. It's much more fun the second time, knowing most of the tricks and how to avoid little pitfalls (it took me at least 20 tries to escape the ship the first time I played; did it on the first try with 90 seconds to spare this time). I can't wait to go home and play some more. Buy this game, or rent it and call in sick for a week.

Due to the fact that I am sick while writing this it is not going to be long. Ever since Metroid for the NES I have been a dedicated fan of the Metroid games. But this one is the best out of all of them. Just a little ahead of Super Metroid. You should buy this game. Seriously. The graphics are better than Halos, the fun factor is also better. But the controls are what most people say they have issues with, but I got them down solid before the game came out with that 10 minuete demo time you get. But you should buy this and get Metroid Fusion. Both the games are phenominal. See ya!

The good thing is:
Metroid prime is a great game because it's not too hard but not too easy and there are puzzling bosses and mini-bosses also the natives of tallon IV are pretty cool but totally disgusting. There are fiendish traps and puzzling and brain-racking puzzles.
The bad thing is:
you can't save at any point and losing data can be frustrating
also they should have put in a multiplayer option.
My rating 8/10
