This is Game of the Year

This game is a current champ and an instant classic!! The environments are enormous and beautul, the gameplay is tight and simple for a first-person shooter. The enemies are back, with new twists and frills- and your power-ups come with thermal visors, x-ray visors, spider-ball and phazon beam. What more can you ask for in a game? Another thing: compared with Halo (which has loading times) Metroid Prime wins big-time with wonderful graphics Halo wished it had and 60 frames per second with no loading time! Shoot and go- fast action! You must buy this game!!!

Lets just expect

Alright first I'll admit I haven't even played the game yet - but come-on folks: gamespot.com gave it a 9.7 (higher than Tony Hawk 4, both GTA III and Vice City), numerous other publications have scored it just as high and higher. This game is going to be one of the best new games in recent history. Those of you kinda-old-school gamers who played Super Metroid for the SNES know that that was and is one of the best games of ALL TIME, bar none.
But just to save face I must admit that lacking a multiplayer mode seems like a large fault. But from what I've heard it would only have depreciated the value and quality of the absolutely fantastic one-player game. Lets be honest - this will be an awesome game and the perfect Christmas present for all ages. -Sykes

Way better than Super Metroid for the SNES. I guess waiting 8 years was worth it.

Okay, first of all, I do not own this game. My brother does. There. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I shall proceed with my review.

I'm not going to bore you all with the storyline; it's probably apparent to all of you. I'm going straight into gameplay, and the gameplay is wonderful. One would think that because the trigger buttons aren't used for shooting is a con to the game. It's not. All the buttons work correspondingly. I also like the unique scanning method, which allows Samus to gain valuable infromation on enemies, Space Pirate data, and Chozo stories.
Now that I look back at it, though, the game's story plays like that of the Wind Waker (a Legend of Zelda game) in the sense that you do lots of exploring and picking up elemental weaponry.

The graphics of this game nuked me right off the planet. The atmospheres are so well done - the rain in Tallon IV, the fumes at Magmoor Caverns...wonderful. The enemies are well animated, too (My personal favorites are the Pirates themselves, and the Metroids). The unique thing to me is that this is one game I've played where an atmospheric environment isn't made simply for eye candy.

The difficulty? Well, I'll have to say that this game is NOT an easy one. It's NOT for impatient people, as there you have to do a lot of scanning and reading to fully enjoy this one. The enemies are pretty tough too - If you think the Pirates are weak because they were easy to beat at the begining, you'll be taking that back later in the game. And what's a Metroid game without Metroids? Yes, those lovable jellyfish-like creatures are back, and they won't hesitate to suck the energy out of anyone. And I mean ANYONE (It's hilarious watching Metroids attack the Pirates). The bosses are provide much challenge too--part of the challenge involves scanning them for their weak spots...kind of like the fairy in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Overall, buy this only if you are the patient type. If you aren't, don't be seduced by the wonderful graphics, because you won't like this game.

Metroid Prime. The fearless Samus Aran is back again, this time on the Nintendo Gamecube. I came across this game at a local store and thought I'd give it a try. I'm hooked. Once I learned the controls, which was simple, I immersed myself in the gameplay. I thought back to Metroid II on Gameboy, and realized that the situations are similar. Move around, shoot stuff. It was fun. Any avid Samus fan or a fan of great gameplay, graphics, and so much more, you have to try this! Personal recommendation, ****

i kind of hate it

This game rox.
let me explain. i completly forgot what happens in the biegginning, but im about 40 % done
and ive played.... 33 hours.
this games life span is soo much more than every other game ive ever played except mario 64 for nintendo64. But its like this.
You a cool bounty hunter. You have killed almost every alien, called metroids, alive. The last remaining ones are on the planet you start on. Now, I remember! its the Chrozo ruins. you hop out, and explore. Then hit the first door and the action begins. I wont spoil it, but let me just say it seams like the ol' beam cannon gets old, but in the game, theres a LOT more than just a beam cannon.trust me on that. And im not just talking rockets, eather. Neways, eventually there are many many beautiful yet murdering gruesome beasts. let me say this for all of you reviewing to get this. THIS GAME HAS THE BEST GRAPHICS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, ANY PLATFORM!!!!!!!!!!(ive played 167 different nintendo/playstation/xbox/PC/Mac platforms games.) It has better graphics than all zeldas!(including wiind waker).

I think that this game is reallly awesome. Though i do not have a gamecube i have played the demo at target and it is a really good game.

I like the controls and i think that nintendo did a REALLY good job!!, and i think they should make a sequal to it like halo. It also should have been 4 player and it should have been for playstation to but nope nintendo [messed] up in those categories but over all it is a really good game and if i get gamecube (wich i want so Bad)it would have to be the first game i get.

P.S. CAN YOU PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE MAKE THIS GAME FOR PLAYSTATION 2. I know it is buy the company nintendo but if would not hurt to put this game on playstation. If you do put it on playstation 2 give me a copy.Thnk you

good game but bad controlling

This is all im going to say is that the game itself is a good graphical and well plotted game and the 3D worlds are pretty cool but the thing that i could just not get over was the fact that you cant look up or down in this game. It gets really annoying when you cant look into the sky or look at your feet. In every other game ive played thats in the same category you can look anywhere you want. It might be just me but it gets so annoying that i dont even want to play it. I think that the designers of this game were really stupid for not allowing the up and down view.
