This game was very enjoyable. I really recamend it. The exotic and dangerous locations were really cool. I also like the different arsenal of weapons and the fact that it is a first person shooting game. If I were looking for a game to buy for the GameCube, I would buy this game, hands down. I give it two thumbs way up. Thank you for reading my review.
This is the BEST game you can buy!

Metroid Prime has exellent graphics (I think it has the more detailed visual effects of al games I've ever played). The sound and the animations are exellent. If you really wanna play a perfect game you better buy this master game.

This game draws you right in to the story and keeps you there. So far it has kept my attention while playing even though games like Mortal Kombat have not. The story is illusive like a good mystery and the parts are hard to find but not impossible.
This game is too hard for kids under twelve. But everyone else will find this game to be very satisfying.

I defy everyone, including those who have never played the original Metroids, to pick this game up if they have a Gamecube. With its steller graphics engine, serpurb sound effects, and great gameplay mechanics, Metroid Prime is the way to go. This game is largen and beautiful. It has to be the greatest game I've ever played.

While Metroid Prime was in development the hardcore Metroid fans (including me) where doubting if this new release could beat one of the best games ever made. It's clear that Metroid Prime is a must for every GC owner but is it better than it's big snes brother?
Gameplay : prime 9.5 snes : 10
What could I say, I enjoyed every bit of it. Loads of chambers, many items to find and rough action. The conversion from a 2D platform to 3D really went out good. Stuff like the morphing ball, enemies, platform jumping and environment seemed to fit nicer than many critici would have expected in this new 3D world. The further you proceed, the more interresting the game becomes. In this case don't look too much at the screenshots, you just have to experience the wonderfull world of Tallon IV by yourself. Screens are showing you explosions and action but the core lies at exploring the world and finding items. Sounds stupid but it's still great fun, believe me!
Graphics : prime 9 snes : 8.4
If you've seen Doom3 or the Resident Evil remake these graphics aren't that cool but they're still good. Notice all those small details like rain on your visor or all the cables and bricks in the chambers. Every chamber is unique and fun to explore and the visor gives you really the feeling that you're inside an armored suit. Although the graphics aren't a real revolution, they're loyal to the snes graphics and never bored me.
Sound : prime 8.5 snes : 10
If there's one thing dissapointing it's the music and sound. It's still ok but I didn't got those goosebumps like in the old Metroid. Many old metroid music has been remaked but the result sucked in mine opinion. Too bad because the great sound and music of the old Metroid while fighting bosses for example were absolutely genious.
Difficulty & replay value : prime 8 snes 9.5
Most players including myself will need 20 hours to complete the game. 20 hours is pretty much but it's only because of the huge world. Most enemies and puzzles are pretty simple and the hint system will make it even easier. In the old metroid I got really stuck on some points so I desperately bombeb and scanned chambers over and over again. at that point. In this metroid items and secret passages aren't that 'secret'. Most items are quite easy to find if you have the right suit abillities otherwise you'll put it in your memory and return later. The hint system and easy-to-find-items are making the completition time of the game seriously shorter which is a pity. By the way, after completing you'll get access to some extra options and the NES metroid1 (but you'll need somebody with a GBA for that) which improves the replay value.
Conclusion : total rating prime = 9.3 snes = 9.9 (or maybe 10)
Maybe I'm an old whining grandpa but in mine opinion the snes Metroid was better. This metroid is good, awesome, but it's not in my top 10 best games ever while it's brother almost gets the first place. It are those little thingies, snes metroid was thougher, better music, more impressive bosses etc. But anyway, if you own a GC you'll have to buy this game. If you like it, download the snes metroid rom somewhere and compare. I think real metroid fans agree with me the old metroid was just a little bit better.
+Don't worry about the map size, I think it's even bigger than the snes map!
+many items to find, especially the different visors are cool (thermal visor, X-ray ).
+Learn more about space pirates, metroids and Samus while reading log-books. While the snes version didn't had a real story this metroid has one.
+So many details. Especially the chozo ruins are lovely to explore.
+You can link it with the GBA to find secrets and play NES metroid.
-Music could have been better. The snes 'remixes' are a little bit [messed] up.
-The hints you'll get makes the game maybe too easy.
-The 'atmosphere' is almost the same as in the snes metroid but a little less creapier.
-A few more bosses would have been nice.

Metroid Prime is all that you would expect from the metroid line and more. The graphics in this game are supurb and bring you into the game. The farther you get into the game the enemies become lightning fast and you will have to use all of Samus's skills to survive. The gameplay hooks you after the first time you fire her weapon. I haven't put it down for weeks. So if you want to play an awesome first person shooter. BUY THIS GAME!!

So let's get started. This game has great graphics, but poor gameplay. Tell me. What didn't you like about Digimon 1,2 and 3? That you have to run around a lot. the same with this game. I recommend that you don't buy this game if you don't have a lot of pattiance.
