Clasic Metal New Gear

First of all this game is sweet.I thik this game is one of the best ever.Don't even get me started on the graphics! These graphics are so good that it makes the game more funner. This game is going for players choice, bottom line! I'm sorry for xbox and ps2 because first of all xbox doesn't have it and ps2 does but with cheap graphics.

Anyways the legendary story line of the original metal gear solid. The cutting-edge gameplay of metal gear solid 2 sons of liberty.Fused together in metal gear solid the twin snakes, the best of both worlds available exclusively for nintendo gamecube. With new cut scenes, new game design and the creative vision of the game's originator, Hideo Kojima, it's a brand new game that's already a classic. So what I'm trying to say is that the graphics are sweet, the gameplay is sweet, heck the whole game is sweet.I would recomend this game to all the people that I can.

An interesting story, but the execution is a little flawed

Metal Gear Solid: the Twin Snakes is mostly a story-driven game. That would explain the fact that there are several hours of cutscenes, and they sometimes seem to drag on endlessly. You can skip them, though, so if you aren't very patient, you don't have to sit through them. There is humor, tragedy, romance, and action all rolled into one little package. Plus many twists in the plot. It seems like almost every cutscene, there's someone dying or betraying someone else or revealing a secret about him/herself. I was pulled into the story soon after I started playing. I felt bad for almost all of the bosses I killed, because they told their stories before they died and it turned out that they've had pretty tragic lives. At times, the characters repeat themselves too much or they monologue for too long, but mostly, its a well-written story with good voice-acting. The voice-acting went very smoothly, with few lines or voices that are completely idiotic. Which is an accomplishment, since most other games have major problems with that. Sometimes, though, the action in the cutscenes seems quite unrealistic. For example, when Solid Snake, the main character, sees a metal bar flying at him from an explosion, he doesn't just dodge it like a normal person. He leaps five feet into the air and throws a grenade at the pesky hunk of steel. There are a lot of crazy stunts like that in the game, but whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is a matter of opinion. Its not nearly as well done as the Matrix, but if you like over-the-top action, this might be for you.

Something that impressed me was the uniqueness and variety of some of the boss battles. *Spoiler ahead* One boss has psychic powers, and he demonstrates them by reading some of the games on your memory card and making your controller move. During the fight, he could read your every move through your controller, so you have to put the controller into another port to block his telepathy. I've never seen that one before. *Spoiler ended* The other battles make you use strategy, too, which keeps it interesting.

Movement isn't quite as smooth as I would have liked. You might run into things or turn in the wrong direction. Another problem I had was that when you walk towards a wall, you automatically put your back to it. This could be a problem when you need to face something on the wall, like a switch, and you keep turning around. But mostly, the gameplay is alright, even fun at times. You can collect a variety of weapons, from a stun grenade to a missile launcher. You can even pick up adult magazines and place them on the ground to distract enemies. And the controls are fairly easy to figure out. The gameplay is pretty good, with just the few flaws.

For the remake of the original Metal Gear Solid, the graphics would obviously be improved. It looks good, with nice weather effects and facial expressions. It's not the best looking GameCube game out now, but it beats the old graphics. And as I stated before, the voice-acting is quite good. The music matches the situation well and the sounds match what they represent.

I really liked this game and I plan to try Metal Gear Solid 2 next. There isn't much replay value, so maybe you should rent the game, then see if you want to buy. But, since it's under twenty dollars, it would be worth it to just buy it. I finished the game in nine hours, so its on the short side, but I enjoyed almost every minute of it.

The Twin Snakes is amazing!

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is an awesome remake (good job to those at Silicon Knights) of the game for the playstation 1 that was quite possibly the best game for the system, from it's rich storyline, awesome cutscenes, and fun gameplay. This action-packed adventure for the Nintendo Gamecube is sure to please. The graphics are superb and the cutscenes are better than some of those B-movies. The voices from the PS1 have been redone, and lines have been added/cut (Mei-Ling has an American accent! woop woop). The gameplay is fantastic- unlike Splinter Cell (which is a great game), you can get out of situations alive. Hide in a locker, jump into that truck, or just kill all if you have the firepower (btw, you get firepower ; ). For $40 US (the normal price for a gamecube game of this caliber is $50), this game is hot!

If you want stealth, shooting, Matrix action packed edge of your seat thrills, Metal Gear is your only option. Everyone talked about this game being so great so buying it was my only option. I found out that damn this game is good and at the same time damn hard. It is two cd's so you'll be awhile about 7-10 hours depending on how well you use stealth on each level. The setup is awsome making you do everything you can think of just to get to point b. The game I have to warn is brutal, alot more brutal thgen any game out their to date, and alot of porn related subjects and nude girls and guys. Their blurred but from what gaming magazines said their is ways to take the blurrieness off. The game like I said is brutal how, well when you shoot someone their clothes soak in blood and the blood coats the ground and walls behind them but not in just pints but gallons. The whole shooting and hiding setup is just perfect. The game is hard when it comes to using the enviroment. You must think of every possible way you could escape, kill, or hide from the enemy. Near the end you must kill a rat by C4 because it took your security card which shuts down the nuclear launch. You will love this game but from the warning I said kids cannot have this game. With this their is no way people can say the Gamecube is for kids because after doing research the Gamecube has the most realistic brutal titles to date, and this one just adds to it. I reccomend this game in every way and if you can't figure it out do it again because their is a way ive beaten the Gamecube version already so I know that it can be done but it is definetly hard.

Overall rating 9.8 the only thing that stops it from recieving a 10 is that once and a great while you will get a slow down that you can bearly see and it last only 2 seconds, other than that one of the best games to date.

Great remake

Mgs twin snakes as every one knows is a remake
of hideo kujimas Metal Gear Solid for the
psx. When I first played this amazing was When I
got it on psx. The game was AWSOME! I always play
the original mgs when I have nothing to do Or play my other
games. When I first heard about the them making a remake I
was full of excitement. Mgs was what alota people say the
greates action adventure game ever. I agree. When I got the twin snakes the day it came it I quickly rushed home and played
it all day. Did this live up to the original. YES.
Even though Some of the stuff I found more fun in the original wasnt here.
PROS
Graphics are amazing! A slight bit sharper then sons of liberty.
The story line is top notch.
The character desighn is great. Esspecially meryls. oooo SHes hot!
The acting is excellent. Specially David Hayters.
Game play is great.
CONS
The game is on the short side.
The movie parts take a little to long even though some of
the parts kick ass.
There is little gameplay. Say like you add all the gameplaying without the cutscence and codec it would be my guess like an hour and 2 minutes. If you add the boss battles and ect.
No added addition except dog tags and boss battle mode.
Some stuff in the original were more sad and dramatic than twin snakes. Such as the final conflict between snake and grey fox. His speech was not as moving as the original. WHY DID THEY CHANGE GREY FOX'S VOICE! AND NASTASHA! Well that didnt bother me and the game in my book is one of gamecubes best.

Over all the game gets a 8.9 out of 10.

If you have a gamecube this is a must have.
Hopefully SNAKE EATERS will have more gameplaying...........
STILL THIS GAME KICKS ASS.....so use your time and give it a try.

After seeing a friend play this I had to have this game. The Original Metal Gear Solid had bad graphics and no first person mode. But using the graphics of MGS2 with the story line of MGS makes the great game the Twin Snakes. If you have a Gamecube and you're a Metal Gear fan, I would definitely recommend this.

The original MGS on Playstation is a classic. I thought it would be almost impossible to improve on a game that at the time was damn near perfect. Leave it to Nintendo to prove me wrong. As they did with the porting of Resident Evil, Nintendo has made such a faithful and flawless translation of this fantastic game onto their new console. Everything that made the original great has remained intact. The voice acting is still superb. The new cut scenes feature expanded action and dialogue, which builds up the story even more.

This truly is a fusing of MGS and MGS2. Weapons from the second game have found their way into this translation, including the M9 tranquilizer and PSG1-T. The addition of a first person mode enhances the playability, which includes the aquisition of dog tags! For a bit of a twist, they left the old codec screen alone, without the annoying floating heads of MGS2. There are 5 levels of difficulty, ranging from very easy to extreme, and you can play any difficulty with a saved complete game. They even left in the costume changes from the original MGS.

If you're a fan of the MGS series, then I highly suggest getting this game. It's got loads of playability and is an extremely good and faithful translation of the original.

When I first saw the remake of Resident Evil for GameCube one of my biggest hopes was that Nintendo would pursue remakes of other classic Playstation games for their system, and then seize the games (like they did with Resident Evil, with only Spin-off titles hitting other consoles). I hate to admit it, because I am an avid hardcore cross platformer, but deep down I'm still a Nintendo loyal, and I wanted Nintendo to take back what it lost last generation to Sony. I had hoped to see remakes of Silent Hill 1, ports of SH2, 3, and the forth-coming 4, and remakes or ports of the entire Final Fantasy series. Needless to say that the announcement of Crystal Chronicles had me in tears (not literally) over what might have been... At least Nintendo got one of the many Playstation games I'd like to see brought to their system... and it's a big one.
Argued by many to have been the single greatest game on the original Playstation Metal Gear Solid continued the story that began way back in the late 80s with Metal Gear on the original Nintendo. Although the true sequel Metal Gear 2 was never released domestically the NES was graced with an unofficial sequel called Snake's Revenge. As far as I can tell Snake's Revenge is not relevant to the plot of Solid, which is actually Metal Gear 3.
The storyline is well known by now, so I'll not review it, as it is sufficient to say that it remains one of the greatest games stories of all time. So good in fact, that even Metal Gear Solid 2 failed to eclipse it. What is relevant for the sake of this review is that aside from a few minor changes to the dialogue the story of the original is here and in tact.
Obviously some people wonder what's changed? Well not much, thankfully. Silicon Knights, Konami, and Nintendo must have felt that it wasn't necessary to fix what wasn't broken. Instead they took the elements of Metal Gear Solid 2 that made it so great (hiding in lockers, moving dead bodies, etc) and used it as the basis of the Twin Snakes. The only addition to the game play I would have liked to see is better use of shadows for cover.
Most of the voice-overs are done by the original voice actors, including David Hayter (Writer of the X-Men movie) as Solid Snake. So far the only voice that doesn't seem like the original is that of Mei Ling, and while I miss that adorable Chinese accent, one could point out that Silicon Knights was correcting a flaw of the original game... Mei Ling was born and raised in America, so it would make sense that she spoke with an American accent... even if her original voice was more fun.
The graphics have been given a major overhaul, and kudos to Silicon Knights for the accomplishment here. Their previous outings have not been graphically impressive, but always had a decent artistic flair to them anyway. In Twin Snakes they have both. True to the artistic style of the MGS series, and yet better looking on GameCube than on any other system. I was blown away by the animation in this game. It's simply breathtaking to see how fluid everything is. The game does contain very impressive lighting, shadows, and weather effects that simply had my jaw to the floor. Character models may not be as good as those found in the Resident Evil or Silent Hill Series, but they don't fail to impress either.
Silicon Knights proved with Eternal Darkness that they are champions of sound on the GameCube. MGSTS is no exception. Gun shots sound real, voice overs are phenomenal, little subtle sounds are very important in this game, and Silicon Knights did great with it. I was blown away by the sound, which tops 90% of the games out there.
The enemy AI is nothing short of amazing as well. Though the original was no walk in the park by way of difficulty this game makes MGS 2 look like a kitten. The enemies are that smart. This game has me at the edge of my seat and I am a seasoned Metal Gear fan.
In closing I want to say thank you to Konami, thank you to Nintendo, and Thank you to Silicon Knights for this amazing masterpiece. There is very little to complain about. This game is great for both nostalgia, and for newbies alike. Whatever your thoughts about GameCube this is defiantly a must have title... Now lets get Silicon Knights on Final Fantasy VII!
