I finished this game about a week after buying it. I had only two reasons to finish it at all: 1) so I could be completely justified in my quickly developed low opinion of the game, and 2) so I wouldn't have any lingering sensation of having given up to early.

This would be the third game I've traded in for the gamecube (out of 20 bought), the other two being "Wario World" and "Wallace and Grommit".

My biggest gripe about the game was the extremely poor camera angles. Top-down is quite probably the WORST camera angle you could possibly use in an action game, and that's the camera angle the game chooses whenever you're in any combat situation. But even so, whenever the game picks a camera angle (and it always does, you have no real control over the camera), it nearly always picks the worst possible, given the situation.

As an example, there is a tower you have to climb and you have an infinite number of baddies on your tail and ahead of you. You can't see any of them, of course, because the camera is pointing at you from the side. No view forward or backward.

The ending (don't worry, no spoilers) is insanely long. The cinematics make the game seem more like a c-grade action flick with a few interactive segments here and there. You have no control over the cinematics, and you can't replay them so you either sit and watch the 10-minute sequences or you miss them. When I had finally finished the game, I kept expecting it to be over, but the cinematics just kept going and going, putting the energizer bunny to shame. A "telephone conversation" at the end was about 10 times longer than it needed to be to server the purpose of a segueway into the next release (which I'm in a hurry to not buy).

I couldn't get rid of this game fast enough. I called Game Stop pretty much immediately after finishing, but they were already closed, so I had to wait until they were open again.

Oh Hideo

Simply put, the best video game ever made with revamped graphics and more advanced controls. Never again will there be a better game.

I'm sure the game is great....

...But I, like many others, HAVE A PS2! If you really want to sell this game good, get it on the better game system that all the others ones are on! Why did they change JUST THIS ONE to GC instead of going along with Sony...... Blah.

PUT IT ON PS2!!!

I will start by saying that first of all, the gamecube is the worst system in the world, and the Metal Gear Solid series is probly the best thing to happen to video games. OK.

Twin Snakes is just a copy of Metal Gear Solid (PS1) it might have a few added parts and better graphics. but it it still the same game that we all played years ago. The only reason i gave the game any stars is becasue the original game rocked. bye.

Bought it a few hours ago; Good and Bad, Mostly Good

The original metal gear solid was great. This remake is great too. It features completely new graphics, new stealth tactics, but the same story. Still, the story was great so why change it? Well, this game is basically the original metal gear, with MGS2 graphics and MGS2 gameplay

I knew there would be a few problems. The main problem is voice acting. The voice actors are different for Mei Ling, Naomi, Kenneth Baker, and the ninja. They changed the ninja's voice. What is that? The ninja(i know his name just don't wanna spoil it) gave a very good speech at the end of Metal Gear Solid about his life. It was moving. This new ninja's voice is kind of younger, and doesn't have the same effect. Mei Ling has a completely different voice actor. Occasionaly when you open the save menu you will hear the old voice saying "wanna save snake?", but that is it. In terms of Naomi, her new voice actor is okay, but it doesn't have the same british accent going. Kenneth Baker has a new voice actor, but it really doesn't matter. They should of used the original ninja voice...

The controls are also a problem at times. I mean, the original metal gear had some camera problems during certian fights. This one lets you go in first person, but holding the z button gets tiring, especially when you have big hands. On top of that, the gun takes forever to get use to. To put it down, you hit "Y". Okay, but this is simply obnoxious(you will understand what I mean the moment you start to use the gun). If this game goes to PS2 I will probably trade this in for that. Pressure sensitive keys are one million times easier. You will probably accidentaly fire your gun alot, and it will become annoying till you get the hang of it.

As for other changes? Well, take MGS2 and think in terms of that for gameplay. Lockers, holding up badguys, hanging from ledges, dropping down like Arnold, and so on.

The new scenes in the game are spread out, but they are worth it. There are a lot of new "matrix" moves. Snake dodges bullets like crazy. Also, there is probably one of the coolest scenes ever between the ninja and Snake after Revolver Ocelot. You basically get to see the ninja pull out that sword stuff. It rocks. Watch the intro to see some new stuff. Also watch those breifings that you probably didn't care about in the first MGS. They are in 3d instead of 2d. More interesting basically.

The graphics are better than MGS2 in certain places. The gun models are fantastic, and they included the M9(tranquilizer), which is a fun gun.

For 40 dollars, this game is worth it. The same story is there, and the gameplay will get much funner once you learn to use guns properly. Well, it is extremely fun because you get to use Snake so much in better sneaking environments. The tanker was alright, but it was too short. There is also plenty of blood for the action fans(booya) and that is a big plus. Enjoy!

A remake of the playstation classic

I give this game 4/5 stars because its just a remake of the mgs for the psone. It will have a few added features like, better graphics and an all new first person mode but nothing much else. If you owned the first one then you might want to rent this one. But, if you never had an opportunity to play the original than get this one.

A Classic Revamped

Having played all 5 Metal Gear Solid games including Metal Gear Solid(NES), Metal Gear Solid(PS1), MGS:VR Missions(Ps1),MGS2:Sons of Liberty(PS2), and Metal Gear Solid 2:Substance(X-Box,PS2), I must say that the playstation port was much better than the rest. With the exciting gameplay, breath-taking graphics(for the time) and enormous plot and enviroments, this game was the 2nd biggest selling PS1 game, with FF7 coming in first.

Now with the the second included, and the revamped additions, this game is worth more than its weight in gold. Though supporting a mature rating, this uses tacticul espionage to the limit. Without a doubt, Metal Gear Solid:The Twin Snakes and Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS2) will bring the classic gameplay that we know and love to our consoles this fall.

What I think...

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance are pretty much the exact same game. The only difference is that Substance has a few extra things to do that don't have anything to do with the game. So you can't say that one is better that the other, because they are the same. But to comment on what you said about "This will dominate the PS2 series", I completely disagree with you. You notice that there is no real hype to this game, because it is all going to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. You almost never here about this game because with the other title coming out for the PS2, no one really cares about a remake of a PlayStation game. PS2 is the best system out today, and this is coming from a guy who has PS2 and XBox. Yes, XBox is the most powerful and has the best graphics, but PS2 has the best controls. And I don't know where all this is coming from that GameCube has better graphics than PS2, since GameCube is the least powerful of the three. And no, I'm not dissing GameCube, because I am thinking about buying one. But Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be the dominate game. Just take a look at the screens and videos. Well, that's enough for now, please, no negative feedback, I only speak what is on my mind. I have nothing against GameCube. As I said before, I am definetly thinking about buying one.

Thank you,
Jobey268

It told me I had to pick a star so I put 3. lol
