Classic Zelda.
The Legend of Zelda is one of the famous names in all of video gaming. It is one of those classic groundbreaking games that set a new standard in gaming upon its release on the NES in 1987. In 1998 Zelda went 3D on the N64 (Ocarina of Time) and earned game of the year for 1998. The latest incarnation, The Wind Waker, released in 2003, is a great addition to the Nintendo franchise with the addition of a cell shaded graphic style, which looks awful in screen shots but looks great in motion on your TV screen. Overall the game is shows off it's high degree of polish from the beautiful environments and animations to the lovely and memorable music score (which is available on a import CD.)
All the standard features of Zelda game play are present in Wind Waker. You start out as a little blonde boy named Link and you soon go on collection run for treasures, upgrades to weapons, health and equipment. Along the way you have enemies to defeat, a princess to rescue--Zelda, puzzles to solve and optional side quests to complete.
There are some annoyances. Such as the amount of sailing one has to do to get from island to island. After a while you get a quicker way to get from point to point but in the early going, it gets old quick. The economic system appears not have been properly thought out. When you start out you have a 200-rupee limit. Busting pots or cutting grass easily reaches that limit. The trouble is once you go over your 200-rupee boundary all of that extra wealth earned is lost till you upgrade your wallet for holding more. Also, most of the stuff you can buy you can easily pick up in various locations.
Even still, it's a fun and easy game to play and the difficulty setting is low. Parents should know the violence is cartoon-like and bloodless and there is the use of magic elements to control the wind--hence the name, "Wind Waker."

The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker is an awesome game. Although some are turned off by its graphics, I personally think that they're fine for a game such as Zelda. Anyhow, the gameplay, which is to core of any game, is just great. The dungeons are designed well with many suprises. There is also plany to find in the dungeons that help you later on. The bosses are also creative and have interesting ways to be beat. Fighting is also done well with attack relegated to b and a lock on feature of L. The many weapons are helpful, and the sailing actually isn't bad since you quickly get the windwaker and learn the tune to change the wind quickly as well. Sound effects and music are also well done and fit the game well. Buy it.
A Worthy Follow-Up to "Ocarina of Time!"

If there's one game to get for the gamecube, it has got to be windwaker! It's remniscent of Ocarina of Time, except with a whole new feel. In Ocarina of Time, you play the role of an adventurer - travelling on horseback, visiting villages and battling monsters. Whereas in Windwaker, you are more of an explorer - riding the seas on a small boat, visitng islands and encountering sea creatures. And the cell-shading is fantastic! I was never a fan of it untill I saw how much better cell-shading can be, when done correctly. It gives the game an overall cartoonish feel, which i've heard some people disliked, but I personally was impressed with the ability of the creators to utilize cell-shading yet retain the 3D aspect of the game. The gameplay consists of challenging puzzles - maybe a little too challenging for some - and lots of fun! The more riddles you solve the more rewarding. Indeed, the game is long, and at some points the pacing is slow, but it does pick up as you progress. However, that makes it no different than "Ocarina.." which was also long and slow at times. So, to sum it up, if you liked Ocarina of Time, then you will most likely enjoy windwaker(if you're not hydrophobic, lol!).

We are very stuck on one part right now however and have been looking everywhere for a walkthrough and we cant find one!(...) But besides that we have had a lot of fun playing this game and hopfully we will figure out how to get out of The Tower of the Gods!(..)
Possibly the BEST video game of all time!

This game is just fantastic. Fun, challenging, clever, chock-full of cool accessories for Link to use (like the grappling hook, the hookshot, and the Deku leaf to fly with), it is also loaded with so many side games and extra features that you could play it for months if you want to. There are 49 islands Link can visit and something different to do on every one (although it is not necessary to visit them all in order to win the game). While the dungeon bosses are tough to beat, they are never so difficult as to make one want to give up. Sailing around to reach the different islands can be a little tedious, even after you learn how to warp, but that is a minor quibble. If you have a Gamecube, you MUST get this game!

Just when you thought he was gone for ever, Link is back, well kinda.
The legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, ditches the series' traditonal digs, Hyrule, and trades them in for a vast ocean and islands. (Sailing is a pain in the neck, but eventually you'll be able to "teleport" and avoid sailing for the most part.) The Hero of Time is a myth from the past. Your charecter is a boy from one of the many islands (49 to be exact) scattered across the vast ocean.
After a somewhat odd change in Majora's Mask, the Zelda series returns to its bread and butter. Cool items, awesome bosses and baddies, and a plot that makes sense, will inspire you to play, and leave you in awe.
The combat in this game follows the traditonal Zelda style. Sword, shield, arrows, bombs, the usual. There are also a few newcomers to the lineup, but I'll let you find that out for yourselves.
I was absolutley amazed by this game. Not only does The Wind Waker hold fast to the aspects of the Zelda series that has made it a favorite the world round, it completely reinvents the entire setting and manages to sneak it a few twists to the plot that will leave you speachless.
Cell shading was applied to the graphics in this game. I was dissapointed when I first heard this, but it adds an aspect of humor and emotion to the game that you'll enjoy.
5 stars = A classic Zelda title. Cool bosses and baddies, new and interesting puzzles, good sidequests, cool graphics. Still original and entertaining after all these years. I played this game twice I loved it so much. (Ocarina of Time is still my favorite Zelda title, but this is a very close second)
I LOVE THIS GAME!

I think The Legend of Zelda the wind Waker is a realy fun game. One thing I realy like about it's graghics. They are realy diferent then most games and they are very colorful and clear. I also like the story that you play thru out the game. I dont see why other people dont like it but other people have diferent apinyons. The one thing I dont like about it is when you can't visit other ilands when you first start out.

I played through the game once, and it was incredibly addicting. I started the second time through cause you get a cool bonus (pointless, but cool). After that I had to force myself to sit through it. The whole ocean thing is kinda cool I guess, but it's gets incredibly boring until later on in the game when you get a warp song for your magic stick, or baton, same thing. I'd rent it for five or so days just to beat it instead of buying it. Go to Blockbuster, five bucks for five days, best deal. The reason it gets boring is because in the end you have to collect these maps. Then to get them translated it cost you 398 rupees, and you need to go looking around the whole ocean place to find a fairie that gives you a bigger wallet. You have to do that EIGHT TIMES!!!! Oh well, I gotta go, peace.
ok... game..

I think this game is better than the old ones. Though, Im not such a great fan of zelda games.. i thought this one was pretty good! But it was easier than the older ones..and way different graphics.. Link looks way different.. One thing I dont like about Zelda games is that all are the same.. U beat the boss, go to a different place.. beat another boss, go to a differnt place until finally the game ends with the hardest boss..
