Classic Harvest Moon Fun

Overall the game is great.

If you have played a harvest moon game before, expect more of the same plus great graphics. There are some minor things that really should have been fixed that weren't that really detract from gameplay. Mostly, the controls are too sensitive especially when you are doing anything with your crops. Also, when you sell something other than milk it takes forever. After you are done selling one item, instead of asking if you have anything else to sell, you have to start the conversation over again for every new item. It gets old fast. Little things like that are the only minuses I have found in about 10 hours of game play. Overall good, especially if you like open ended Sim like games.

A brilliant addition to the Harvest Moon series.

I've been a Harvest Moon addict for years, and I was thrilled when I found out that there was to be a new game for Gamecube. On the day it came out, I called literally over 20 different places (including Gamestop, Sam Goody, Target, Walmart and EB Games) and most places told me it was going to be released the following day (despite the fact the official site said the 16th!) so I grudgingly waited until the next day, and it was worth it! I'm 13, and to me $40 is a lot of money, which is what the game cost, but as I said it was completely worth it. The graphics are beautiful, and the gameplay is awesome, as is the plotline. I love that you can actually raise your son (usually he stays a toddler all his life!). Pros- Addicting gameplay Gorgeous graphics More realistic produce (cows only give milk after they give birth etc) Raise your son! Play through 6 chapters, adding to 10 years in the game altogether Cons- Only three potential brides - I liked having five or six Long days The fishing system is utterly boring. If you've never played Harvest Moon before I'd suggest renting this before buying, because it might not be your cup of tea, but for those of whom love the series, this is a must have!

I had a really tough time deciding if I shoud get this game. I heard from a friend that it was really good but I was still hesitant. It turns out this is one of the best gamecube games I have seen. You have 30 years(of game time, thank god not real life) to make your farm a success, from milking your cows to harvesting all kins of fruits and vegetable. And you also get married and have child. And also time passes a perfect rate so you wont have to be in a hurry all the time. This is a great family game and i recomend it to anyone.

Twice As Much Going On, But Not Necesarily A Good Thing.

This is a good game, but with every release in the Harvest Moon series, the fun factor of farming goes down a little. At first when I saw screenshots of this game, the graphics didn't impress me and they looked gritty, but when I actually saw them first hand my opinion changed. They are actually beautiful...the trees and water and sounds make you feel like you are actually surrounded by nature. It's even affected by the weather and seasons. The characters and other objects really stand out from the surroundings, because they aren't really that great. The first thing I noticed when I bought this game was that it took up 47(!) blocks of memory...which, if you can't tell, is a LOT. This game gets off to a slow start and I always dread the long introduction, but once you get started it get's a lot better. There were a few unnesesary additions to this game, especially with the different buildings on your farm. There are twice as many now, not to mention it takes a bit of load time before entering and leaving a room. A few things are missing, like holidays and festivals. You have to water plants and milk cows and a lot of other things TWICE a day now which is a hassle and your tools, which there are many more of, don't upgrade like other HM games. A "run" option would have helped out a lot. Your character walks so slow and you can't speed it up until you get the horse. Forget-Me-Not Valley is huge and it takes a while to travel around. The center camera function works wierd. It doesn't shift to the center, it just jumps there. Not only that, but your character doesn't move, so it's actually turning your character in a different direction in the process...it's hard to explain, but it confuses you and you lose your sense of direction. Some of the charaters in the game seem to be parodies of Americans. If you've played you probably know what I mean. There's so much to do and so little time and the to-do list just keeps getting bigger. All of the Harvest Moon releases seem to fall short of Harvest Moon 64, but that's a big shoe to fill.

This was one of the most creative games I have ever played. It has a great story line and so many things to do. The audio was not very good but who cares. some of the graphics wer faulty so this game is definetly worth buying if you enjoyed animal crossing or those kinds of games.

I bought this so I would have something to do when I got my wisdom teeth out.

I really love Harvest Moon, I wish though that this version had more festivals. Otherwise I love it!

The first time I ever played a Harvest Moon game I loved it. In Harvest Moon:A Wonderful Life, you have a whole lifetime on the farm, actually only thirty years, but close enough. There's loads of new stuff, you can grow new vegetables, get new animals including ducks and goats, you can date, get married and even have kids. Another neat feature is that you can connect your Gameboy Advance with Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town in it to your Gamecube to get new minigames. All of this is mostly what I've read from Nintendo Power, so all of it may not be correct, but even so this looks like a great game. 5 stars!
