I Personally Loved It, but it's not for Everyone

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 7 / 8

Your father passes away and you inherit his old farm. His old friend Takakura helps you on the farm. At the very beginning he gives you a tour of the farm and town. He takes you into the barn and shows you your first cow. He acually bought it for you!
So you have your first cow, so now you take care of it and plant some crops. I suggest you get some pretty cheap ones, because you should really buy stuff cheaply at the beginning. For a while buy cheap seeds and only essetial products.* You should consider finding a wife soon.*
After a while (only if you have around 4000G that you don't need for essential stuff) you might want to start buying good fodder and seeds for trees and just stuff a little more expensive than before. Follow that for awhile and soon buy a miracle potion (or cow/bull).
Like I said earlier try to find a wife! You can choose from three different bachloretts. The three choices are Muffy, Nami, or Celia. In the first chapter, first summer the Harvest Sprites will be fighting over the Blue Feather. The Blue Feather is the item to give your girlfriend during proposal. If she has 4 or more hearts, she will eccept. After that you get married. That leads to Chapter 2. In this chapter you now have a child! The child is mainly based on your spousces personality. Nami's is interested in learning, Celia's in farming, and Muffy's in athletics. The animals you can get in the game are:
Cows
Chickens
Sheep
a goat(ch.2 only)
Ducks
Bull
and a horse
The animals play a big role in this game so be sure to get 8. The crops aren't so big but be sure to get them too. They become bigger when you can use Tarten, Takakura's two-headed plant. The crops you can grow are:
Turnips
Watermelon
Strawberries
Yams
Carrots
Melon
Apple
Grapes
Banana
Orange
Peach
*There are more, I just can't think of them at the time.*
Over All Ratings:
Graphics: 5/5
Music: 4/5
Story: 5/5
Fun: 5/5

Like I said, it's not for everybody but I hope you like it.
I'm a girl so other girls should love it like I did!

Way Better Than Harvest Moon 64

This is the best Nintendo GC game out there. Seriously. It's So nice to find a game without killing, levels, or bosses.
A brief review of the game:
Your job is to take on a farm your dad left to you. You also choose a wife out of 3 potential girls, get married, and have a son. Then, the real game begins: You guide your son through his life. You influence him and what career he chooses. On your farm, you can keep cows, sheep and chickens, as well as a horse and goat. You plant crops and grow friendships with the villagers.
WARNING: THIS GAME IS VERY ADDICTIVE!

The Best Harvest Moon Yet.

I haven't had the oppurtunity to play this game yet, but I can already tell that this game is the best Harvest Moon yet. Not only do you have the best qualities of Harvest Moon, they've actually added more! You age, (your life span is about thirty years on the game. You start from around late teens to twenties and work yourself into retirement.) The amount of time it takes to beat the game is approximated at about 40 hours. There are only three girls to chose from on the game to marry, but they all have different children, in which you can raise to help you on the farm! The graphics look wonderful, this game has to be an all around must buy for old and new Harvest Moon fans alike!

Awesome game

I haven't played this game yet. In fact, I haven't played the game boy advanced one yet either. I did play the super nintendo version. It was easily one of the best games I have ever played. Including gamecube games. I like Harvest Moon because
1. It is a great RPG
2. You dont have to concentrate to hard, but you do have to think
3. You get to get married and have babies
4. and last but best... You get to have COWS!
I absolutely LOVE livestock. In the super nintendo version i had as many cows and chickens possible. I was always brushing milking and talking to my cows, I barely had any time to farm. Not that I cared. my daily schedule
1. talk to wife
2. talk and hold baby
3. watch TV for weather
4. go outside and into cow pen
5. feed, brush, talk to, and milk my 12 cows.
6. go outside and into chicken coop
7. feed chickens and sell some eggs. always keep one incubated
8. water or plant turnips or maybe potatos. they grow fastest
9. go to town and get some sort of gift for my beautiful wife.
10.fix fences with rocks.
11.visit wife and baby in workshop making some sort of machine.
12.go to bed...
I am sure with way better 3D graphics and a new story, and new girls... that this game will be way better and i will get it the day it comes out.

I desperately reccomend this game to anyone.

Best Harvest Moon yet

The people at Victor Interactive has outdone themselves this time. They've taken the best qualities of Save the Homeland, which went a different, if unsucessful direction, and combined them with the best parts of Back to Nature for Playstation and Harvest Moon 64 for the Nintendo 64.

For the true farmers out there, there are three fields with different fertility. Crops and trees can be combined to create 2nd level hybrids, and hybrids can be mixed with other hybrid plants to create some truly strange 3rd level hybrids. Crops can also be mixed with certain flowers that grow around the village for other special effects.

For those who prefer ranching and animals, there are now four different kinds of cows, each of which give a different kind of milk. There are also goats, ducks, and the standard chickens. The breeding systems is also much more realistic. Cows only give milk after they've calved, and then only for a certain period of time. Also cows only have calves if there's a bull around (no more miracle potion).

As far as marriage, there are three eligible girls with distinctly different personalities-- Celia, the good natured farm girl; Muffy, the girly barmaid, and Nami, the reclusive tomboy. You can have one child, a son, who grows to adulthood. How you raise him greatly affects what kind of person he turns out to be.

For Harvest Moon fans, this promises to be the greatest Harvest Moon game ever. For people new to the genre, I'd recommend renting it first. It's not for everyone, particularly if you prefer games with alot of action. However if you enjoy Simulation and Strategy games, it's a good bet you'll love Harvest Moon.

The Future Has Come

I myself am a veteran and long time player of the Harvest Moon games. I am quite ticked off at the people of Natsume for changing the release date quite often. But in any case, the Harvest Moon games have adapted, becoming more and more better as the games keep coming out. There was 2D gameplay, then 3D, then marriage, have a baby, bigger land, better house, etc.
But now, the newest release on the 16th (or so I hope) is the best of the best. Downside is, you can only marry one of three girls, but that is enough considering you have a bigger place to explore, and children that actually grow to help you around the farm. This will be helpful for you when you decide to maximize your farm, and max out on everything. The gameplay still allows you the ability to ride your horse, and plant new vegetables and raise new livestock.
Also, the game completes its self with the new 40 characters! I myself do not know much about this new game as the others, but I hope I have influenced you to check this game out. Its worth your money, and its not one of those easy to beat games. It is challenging and is based on great roleplaying. You will have tons of fun, and may have a great addiction to it. So take it from a veteran, this game is HOTT, you HAVE to get it.

Tons O fun

This game is SOOO FUN! I have this game and i'm a little obsessed wih it but who cares! here is what I say about the game ( no i'm not trying to be a critic)

music 8/10 it's ok it gets anoying after a little bit, the good thing is that you could change it on your record player in the game.

graphics 9/10 great! a whole lot better than the other one's ( Hmbtn and Hm64)

fun 9/10 the fun is strong you might stop for a little while, but of course i couldn't help myself and i still play. U might get tired of what the people say in the game repating the same stuff over and over, but compared to the old versions it is not as bad.

whole gameplay 10/10 Good job natsume! i love it!

I say the game is awsome! there is lots to do, sorry for those violent liking people this game dosen't have any fighting or stuff like that. It is about this guy who inhearets his grandfathers farm and of course is a farmer who has a trusty helper who gives u good info and helps u. there is lots of stuff to do like you can buy a fishing rod and go fish, date, and even get married! but only 3 people to chosse from it used to be 6 in older versions. U can rasie cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, goats and u get a horse later in the game. Tons of people to meet up to 40! some come later in the game and go too. Dig for fossils at the mine. grow veggies and make up your owen kind. Raise your child and help its career to become up to 6 differnt choices. And u can connect your cube up to your gba if u have hmoon friends of meniral town and find more wonderful things! I LOOOOOVE this game and I can't wait untill natsume comes up with another one. I suggjest try it before u buy it! u don't want let a good game go to waste! So long my fellow friends!

My favourite game!!

My Aunt bought this game for me for my birthday. She said it was because she knew I liked animals, and there were animals on the front. I read the back, and it sounded decent, so the next day I started playing.
I couldn't believe it..this game is amazing!
I know it's really hard, if you've never played the game and you're just reading reviews, to understand why the heck a game about farming would be so addictive. I mean, who's a Farmer Fan, right?
For one thing, I love the graphics. After all, they are gamecube graphics, right? So they're pretty good, in my opinion.
The music isn't that bad, I like a lot of it, and if you have Friends of Mineral Town and a gameboy link, you can hook up and visit Mineral Town, getting you more disks to play on your farm.
You plant various plants such as Turnips, Tomatoes and Melons (there are many more!). However, each can only be planted in certain seasons! You can also trees.
The game is divided into six chapters, each spanning from 1-3 years. Each year is 4 seasons, Spring , Summer, Fall and Winter. Each season is 10 days long.
The festivals aren't really that great.
However, in my opinion, the four best things are cows, marriage, hybrids and influencing your son.
In the game, you can cross various plants to make hybrids.
Cows play a huge role in your farm. You have to impregnate them, and milk them. You also receive a horse later on in the game. You can also own sheep, hickens, ducks, a goat and a god, cat and chihuahua.
But what makes this game so great? The family life.
In the first Chapter, The Beginning, you marry either Celia, Muffy or Nami. You must whoo them by giving them flowers, fossils and getting cutscenes (another great part of the game). The next chapter, and for the rest of the game, you have a son, who must influence in a certain career path! They are Farming, Ranching, Music, Art, Athlete and scholar. You must also give him enough attention to make sure that he is not neglected, yet not spolied...

My final words words are that this is an amazing game. If you already like Harvest Moon, you'll definitely want to add this to your collection. If not, I would recommend buying Friends of mineral Town first, so that when you get Wonderful life you'll be able to do more in it. It also makes Wonderful Life easier, in my opinion. I would NOT rent the game, if I were you, because you're going to want to contnue! My friend rented it for a week, and she only just got married when it had to go back! It's very aggravating, and to play the game properly and fully experience everything there is to experience in this wonderful addition to the Harvest Moon games, you should definitely purchase this game now!

Easy to become addicted to...

In my opinion, this game is very fun. I love it, and once you start playing, it's hard to stop. The only complaint that I really have about it is that they gipped me on girls! I'm used to playing the SNES Harvest Moon game, and that one had 5 girls that you could choose from to marry, while this game only has 3. Other than that, the game is very good. It could be better, but I love to play it. I haven't beaten it yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Best Game!

I am a 13 year old kid, and I am into all the M rated shooters. When Isaw this game I was like "A farming game.. pathetic," but then I played it at my dad's friends house, and I was like I NEED TO gET THIS GAME!! It is so fun you get to run the life how you want it. My farm has nothing growing except for a tree, and it isn't like "You need more crops". I think that anyone would like this game a lot. I am uber happy that I got it.
