An interesting addition to the harvest moon series

This game is very addictive, a quality that isnt new in the harvest moon series. If you are a fan of the series, this is definetly a necessary addition to your collection. The graphics and the concept of age has bade this game very interesting but theres a few faults i find in it.

Unlike other harvest moons, one seed covers one square instead of 9. Not a major complaint of mine but this makes growing crops not a major part of your income.

There are no festivals. Or well, nothing special. You may walk to gustafas hut or the bar and run into a little cut event. but your not excited that you showed up there. It just seems like an annoying extra minute of your time. Festivals kept the game from getting boring.

Theres several glitches in the game. such as taking the cat out of romanas mansion. and every once in a while in ch.2, if you leave with your son, he might get stuck and you'll have to wait till 9pm for your wife to go out and rid the glitch if it happens.

you have to breed cows to get it to produce milk. and then only for 40 days, then you must breed again. XP annoying after the first year and you dont understand why your cow wont give you milk.

BUT theres alot of good things about this game.

-YOU GET OLD! for once im excited about becoming old, grey with a hunchback and dying... It lets you end the worry of why noone ages in the other series after playing for 5 years...

-days are longer and months are shorter. some may not like that, but you'll be thankful for it after playing.

-you get a child..and your child ages.. need i say more?

-theres more of a 'realism' to the game that other games dont have. such as the breeding of animals, etc.

- graphics are awesome.

-love growing trees LOVE the trees

-massive seed hybridization thing...havent figured it all out myself though

Anyhow, in all though, the game is definetly worth it. theres alot new to discover and if your a fan of the harvest moon games, get this. you'll love seeing your character with grey hair.. or your kid become as old as you were when you started the game.

Natsume promised that this would be the best yet in the Harvest Moon series, and from what I can tell, they made good on it. The 3D view is different from most of the other HM games, and takes some getting used to. The graphics and sound are very good - water effects, shadowing, and the ability to take a first-person view of your surroundings really pull you into the game. Most crops don't yield as much revenue as they do in some of the other versions, due to the fact that one bag of seeds only yield one vegetable. The animals need constant care to be profitable, and once you get a horse, you can ride it around the town and save your stamina for farming. Ineracting with townspeople is fun. Some will give you items once you become good friends with them, and what they have to say will vary with time of day, connectivity with GBA, and friendship level. There's only 1 or 2 mini-games, and a handful of festivals to attend, but there's so much else to do in the game, you don't really notice. Several new elements have been added to keep things interesting, like a seed maker, hybrid seeds and plants, having a calf hutch, and being able to watch your child grow up as you and your wife (along with the people in town) grow older. Some staples have been kept in the series such as being able to dig for rare items, fishing, cooking, and the Harvest Sprites - although the sprites' only major function seems to be in helping you connect to GBA:Friends Of Mineral Town. If you enjoy the Harvest Moon series, or are just looking for something that doesn't involve a twitchy trigger-finger, then this is a game not to miss.

Hello, I am Keaton. I saw this game and played it and I was hooked! You can marry somebody (Celia who I married, Muffy a bartender, or Nami). You start out with a cow but you can also get chickens, a horse, sheep, ducks, and a goat. Animals cost money but your female cow can have a baby if you have a male. You also have a son. Your son grows up and has a job which you can help him choose (I also think he gets married). If you make friends with the townspeople they might give you useful tools. You can also buy and plant crops which you can eat and make money with. You can live for about 30 or so years but you live a day in 24 minutes. If you have a Game Cube Gameboy Advance Link Cabel and Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town you can link up. Sometimes when you talk to neighbors sometimes it willdefault to no so don't push buttons so fast. Here's a list of pros and cons. Pros: -It's like real life -You can make friends -It teaches management and responsibility -You can play for about 30 years -Very few glitches -It's educational Cons: -None that I know of! This is a very good game. Pretty much anyone would like it. Keaton.

Harvest Moon - A glimpse of days gone by

I have been a fan of Harvest Moon for several Years and the latest installment for the GameCube is by far the best graphically. Anyone familiar with earlier versions for the Gameboy or Nintendo 64, will recall a world revolving around a much simpler lifestyle. Individuals actually own their own businesses, produce goods and trade among themselves. There is no global economy or corporate mentality here. Satisfaction is derived from growing your own crops and trading with your neighbors. Money is saved, and houses expanded as cash allows. Life is good. While Harvest Moon, Friends of Mineral Town for the Gameboy Advance strays little from the tried and true gameplay of previous versions, Harvest Moon, It's a Wonderful Life places slightly more emphasis on building relationships with the villagers. Days also fly by much quicker in Friends of Mineral Town, where an entire day can be spent rather quickly just tending to your crops. In a Wonderful life, however, I have been able to milk the cow, water the existing crops, buy additional seed and plant it, all before lunch. This leaves more time to spend in town. It should be noted that the primary character in the current version of both games is male and is expected to woo and take a wife within a prescribed amount of time. This aspect of the gameplay will alienate female gamers to a certain extent. However, this July, Natsume is releasing versions of both games with female lead characters. Harvest Moon, More Friends of Mineral Town and Another Wonderful LIfe will be aimed at girls. Both games are already listed on Amazon and available for pre-order.

Very fun and addicting game!

I really enjoyed Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. I found myself playing it from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM. O_o

You start out as a boy (if you want to start out as a girl, get "Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life"), and you get a farm. You start out with a cow, and you find a stray dog. You start out with about 3000 G. I spent my first day exploring the whole town, and by the end of Spring, I got my way around. Every season lasts 10 days (about 10 minutes each). You get to choose from three girls in your town to be your wife, Nami, Celia, and Muffy (I married Celia ^^). This game should last over 100 hours, unless if you sleep everyday, which is no fun. =( After you get married, you get a son, and you can buy stuff at Van's shop for him in Chapter 2.

Well, that was alot. >>

There is still more, yet i've only gotten to Chapter 2. There are about 6 chapters, all lasting a different amount of years (3 is the most).
Now, for ratings:
Graphics: 10/10
Best graphics I've seen on the GC for a LONG time!
Sound: 9/10
It was pretty good, yet the music gets repetive.
Replay Value: 10/10
There should be alot of Replay Value, mainly because this game really doesn't end, because you can start over and marry someone else, make new friends, get different animals, etc.
Gameplay: 10/10
Best game on the GC since Super Smash Bros.: Melee. Not for people who hate slow games. Actually, I my self hate some games like that, yet I found this fun.
Overall: 10/10
I just loved this game, even though I'm not much of a farm-sim type of a fan, this really got me playing it. =D

RENT, PASS, OR BUY?: Buy!
Very fun, and very addicting.

well, i have to say that i love this game! i have only ever played the one for game boy advance before this,(before my brother lost it that is)and this is much better. i'm a hard core role play gamer, and this was a big treat for me to have this game! however, there are a few things i would like to point out:

pros:
-great graphics
-you get to marry the girl of your choice
-fun life on the farm style
-long life span
-you get a son
- you can hook up with the harvest moon:friends of mineral town
-digging at the excavation site

cons:
-repetitive dialy chores and music
-ONLY THREE GIRLS!!
-you have to play as a guy, but I'M A GIRL!!!!!(no gender choice)
-a lot of the stuff costs a lot more than it should(this is just my opinion)
-no store you can go to all the time

well, those are some of the things i like and some of the things that just frustrate the heck out of me, although i hear that they came out with a female version of harvest moon: a wonderful life in Japan, hopfully it will come to america!lol! enjoy spending a nice cmfy life on the farm in this great game. if you need cheat codes,(although, its much more fun to figure things out on your own) i suggest: www.cheatplanet.com. it also posts helpfull hints that come in handy.HAVE FUN!!!!

This game looks cool sounds cool and I bet it is! THis Harvest Moon game has cows, goats, sheep, chickens, and ducks. A new way to harvest and plant crops. The graphics are sweet, too! It seems that the town where you live in is bigger, too. The town is called Forget me not valley. You can marry 3 wifes. But that's the only bad part. The last game had 5 I think. But as a harvest moon fan I still recommmed it.

50 percent sim, 50 percent RPG, 100 percent incredible...

A few days ago, I had some extra money from a few eBay sales that I intended to spend on a GameCube game. I was stuck between Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, and Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. After reading a few reviews, I chose the latter.

And I was certainly impressed. I had played Harvest Moon for the SNES, but this game adds incredible depth that surpasses it and stands on its own.

The game is incredibly easy to get into. You've inherited your father's old farm (and you work alongside his old friend), and its your job to make it into something successful and profitable. To this end, you till the land, grow crops and trees, raise animals, sell their products to raise money, upgrade your facilities...the whole nine yards. Context-sensitive buttons and simple tutorials bring even new players up to speed, so that you'll be harvesting turnips in no time!

But what really makes this game an RPG, and not just a simulation, is the friendship/relationship system. The town of Forget Me Not valley is around you, complete with a colorful cast of characters, including another farmer, an innkeeper, a traveling salesman, an orphaned grandchild, a hippie-like musician, a mad scientist, and even a hobo! Becoming friends with these people has its own rewards, none of which I will spoil for you.

Contrary to the SNES Harvest Moon's gift-giving frenzy to woo girls, romance in A Wonderful Life is also nicely handled. Yes, you'll have to give gifts to one or more of the three romantic prospects to gain their favor, but there are quite a few skits and scenes that fill in their backstory, and will enhance your relationship even further. Each of these girls have their own taste, and their own way they prefer being courted. There's even scenes that take place for jilted girls should you involve yourself in a love triangle...

Did I mention the cattle and crop cross-feeding system? Or the dairy processing options? The realistic weather system? The beautiful presentation of Forget-Me-Not valley? You can't go wrong with this game, unless you prefer more action and violence in your RPG's, in which case I can't help you. But if you're looking for a nice, lengthy RPG with many available paths and good depth, this is the game for you. I wholeheartedly recommend it. And so would many Amazon.com customers, based on the sales ranking of this game.

Harvest Moon AWL is awesome!

This is one of my favorite games for gamecube. It was the first Harvest Moon game that I've ever played, and I'm glad it was, because it left a really good impression.

The story is simple: you have inherited a farm, and are about to start your new life. In HM:AWL, the main purpose, I think, is to lead a succesful life, as a farmer, of course, and to raise a family. You don't just start off being a millionaire, you have to work for it. At the start of the game, you own just one cow, a dog, and several buildings. But this is just the beginning!

You can choose if you want to just raise animals and earn money off them, or if you want to grow crops and sell them for profit, or both choices! Another way to earn money is by going into the dig site every day, then selling what you find to Van, a traveling merchant.

If you love animals, then this is the game for you. There are four different types of cows that produce four different types of milk for you to buy. There are also chickens (of course). You will be given a horse. And you can buy sheep, and also you can purchase one goat. There are different animals that you can get as well. You get to name all of them! Yay!

Do you think this game sounds boring? Well, it isn't! And there's much more than planting things to it.

There are three girls that you can marry in harvest Moon A Wonderful Life. They are named Celia, Muffy, and Nami. This game it is a lot easier to get married, because you don't have rivals, and it doesn't take as long to bring up their heart level. Once you get married, you will have a son! And you get to name him! And he's really cute! And he says such cute things! And his clothes are so cute!

There are also other characters in the town that you can interact with, and befriend. Once you become friends with them, they'll give you items.

The graphics in this game are really pretty, and it's obvious that there was a lot of effort put into the game to make it look good. There isn't a lot of music, only when you're in the farm, and there you have the option of turning it off without turning off the volume. I personally like the fact that there isn't much music, only the sounds of your footsteps, or the rain, or a bird, or something else.

There aren't many things that I don't like about this game. One thing that comes to mind is that I found quite a lot of errors in what the character's say. But I don't really care about that. Another thing that I don't like so much is that there aren't many festivals, like in Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town, (the only other HM game that I have played). Like all games (for me) it got boring after a while. Every now and then I play it, but I'm not one of those people who can play for hours one end.

As I said, this is one of my favorite gamecube games. I like it because it's unique. I would say that everyone should try it, but it's definitely not for everyone.
