I have been playing this game since trial version, downloaded it then now buy the CD. This game is so addictive, you are going to play it everyday. Come see the new features, see the white christmas, see the doggies and cats. Learn how to make pizza and enjoy working as a team, this game is all you want from a virtual world.
Disappointing.

I ordered TSO from the us, I was sooo excited since I love the other The Sims games and it seemed so great to play it online. So I spent most of my savings, got it in the mail and played it like, 3 times until I got really bored by it. it's simply boring. stick to the offline games or wait for The Sims 2, don't waste your money.

...First(after everything is installed and you are registered) you go to the somewhat familiar character screen. This is a very important part of the game because it determines how all the other players see you. Now,this is very important before you make your character, you only have three players to be and they all must live in different cities(examples:Alphaville,Blazing Falls,Calvins Creek, and East Jerome).Maxis added tons of skins! You can be from a biker to an alien to a pixie to a robot to a polar bear to a normal person!
Next, where are you going to live?I am thinking of being a homeowner, but most people become roomates. Now I don't know much about that feature, but so you know, homeowners have more privalleges than roomates. But there is no shame in being a roomate...P>Now you buy things and say"This is so expensive?!".You are right, but then get some more money. Now instead of going in a car for 6 hours and come back with a couple hundred simoleans you use job objects like the maze game, code machine, and drum roll please, the famous Pizza Machine!
But there is more than just buying and making money,Oh yes!Lets get to the online feature. You might want to go to a restaurant and get something to eat.Or you might want to go to the beach.Or you might like to check out the night life and go to a dance club(Sims Studios Sixam is highly recommended). You might want to visit a friend. But where are they? That is where the browser comes in.Type in the name of the sim. Then the browser will find the place.Click on the arrow and you right there!
So,that is pretty much all I should tell you.May I also add that talk shows. So farewell and happy simming!
If you enjoy social games and role play, this is unbeatable!

A lot of the negative reviews this game is getting are from "goal-motivated" players who want to be the "richest" or the "strongest." This just isn't that type of game. If your main goal is money and skills, you will be bored to tears in this game.
HOWEVER, if you are looking for an incredibly unique way to socialize and role play with people from around the world, this is it. I run the Rainbow Disco in Interhogan, and we have an incredibly fun time. My roomies and I are like a family and we have lots of repeat guests we have come to know and love. We hold talent competitions, dance marathons, and other wacky contests.
I look forward to the enhancements and added features that are forthcoming. I plan to play this game for quite a long time.
Sims learn money doesn't grow on trees...or cheat codes

I'm not sure why so many give The Sims Online only 1 star. I believe it isn't exactly a 5-star game but it's good, nonetheless.
The Sims Online is a LOT like The Sims PC Game, with a few exceptions:
You create your sims, give them a name and choose a neighborhood to live in. On TSO you can create up to 3 sims (but you cn always delete them if you wish). No two people can have the same Sim name in a city which is a bummer if you had your heart set on a certain name (my names I make up, so I don't have to worry about it. I find it rather fun).
What many sim fans find fustrating with TSO (including me sometimes) is not being able to fast forward through the day. Things can be a bit boring while you Sim spends hours studying and you are sitting there watching.
Also, making money. UGH! A lot of us fanatics of the game LOVE to use the money cheats. Common, any Sim player should know the cheat codes by now! But there are NO cheats on TSO. You gotta earn money by working. Sounds a little too much like real life? Of course if you have a real job, you don't want to have to work on a game too, right?
There are a few ways to earn money on TSO, not enough to completely satisfy us. We want more options. People can play the Pizza game (group of 4 people creating pizzas) which earns the most money, is fairly quick, but requires your attention the entire time...no dozing off!
Like in the PC game, Sims can create paintings, chemicals, and gnomes for money, but don't expect to earn a living from it, unless you join a "factory" along side 8 or more peoples.
Also, sims can become an annoying telemarketer, author, or even codebreaker.
One of the most popular ways to earn money (besides Pizza) is creating a business out of your home. Sims can charge you for entering through a door (or doors, for that matter) and leave tip jars around their lot. You can create restraunts, clubs, and hotels. Whatever you want. Let your creativity run wild!
Of course if you have enough room. Lot sizes are VERY small when you first purchase your lot. You have to upgrade for more space. It costs MONEY. And LOTS of it. You are charged extra if you don't have the required number of roommates. That's why some people don't create their own lot and become a roomie instead. People are always looking.
But the thing it seems EVERY SIM PLAYER forgets is the key word: Online. This is mostly a CHAT program. If you love to chat online, and you like the Sims, get this. Some people hate chatting and get bored. When your Sim is studying for hours (even so in Real Life), chatting becomes your entertainment. You can't be TOO surprised, can you?
I used to chat on a program called The Palace. Is it still around anymore? Anyways, I was OBSESSED. Then I quit and spent all my time playing The Sims PC game. TSO is like a combo of the two.
Best game I ever played

Everyone has their own opinion, but I think that The Sims Online (TSO) is the best game I've ever played. In The Sims, I would sometimes get frustrated that other sims didn't know what I was talking about, and sometimes I didn't even know what I was talking about. It was really great that other sims in the game could know what you are talking about.
The game also poses a challenge. You have to make money to buy property and build a house. Then, you have to start a business and get people to come to your house.
Overall, I give the game 5 stars.
Good, if you have multiple computers

I was never a big fan of the original sims. I played it for about a week, but I thought it was way too time consuming. If you think the original sims is time consuming, wait till your try Sims Online. It is really time consuming, especially if you want to have money. But, most on-line RPG or strategy games are really time consuming. If you want to be a good Diablo II or Everquest player it may take 2 months of constant on-line play. (3-4 hours a day) I think most of the rabid complaints are coming from people who have never played games on-line before. That being said, I would not buy the sims on-line if you have one computer because the game will tie it up, but if you have multiple computers you can run the sims on one and surf the web/work/im on the other.
Addictive, Fun, and everything else!

At first my parents were a little shaky when I wanted to get sims online but then they finally gave in and let me have it. I started making money and after 15 days...Although you can make lots of money it is also fun. You start a property. Then choose which category (love, offbeat, moneymaking, games, residence, welcome, skill, and store). Once you buy all objects to make your property good (try to buy them at stores you can get them alot cheaper) people start coming. Then you start having roomies and friends. This is a great game.
The only bad things about this game are: $10.00 month to play, sims who swear and make playing no fun, loading time to go to houses, downloads when you first log in, and you can get your account suspended or even terminated if you do something bad.

Don't listen to what others may say about TSO, as it is all wrong. This game is probably the most fun I've EVER had, and that's not exageration. I have made friends who live all over the world, from an ocean away to about five minutes from my house. With Maxis adding features all the time, the game truly evolves at a rapid pace. Just give TSO a shot.
I know you won't be disappointed.

This game is one of the most fun games out there in my opinion, because the things to do are endless, if you build a house and get bored with it, you can simply tear it down and remodel. I recommend this game to anyone that is looking for a fun social game!
