Well, if you're reading these reviews, you're probably interested in the Sims Online. Probably the most common thing that you'll hear is that this game is a "glorified chatroom". The chat feature is a major aspect of the game. You can use it to freely communicate with other players, and there is a parental control option to block out certain words.
If you meet a rude person in the game, you don't have to deal with them. If you're on your own property, you can choose to kick that person out and then add them to a ban list, so that they are unable to return. In this way, you can block rude people so that they are unable to enter your property. There is also an ignore feature that you can use so that annoying or rude people cannot communicate with you.
Gameplay is pretty fun. If you can find the right house to live in or the right roomies for you, you'll probably enjoy yourself thoroughly in the game. If you begin to feel that gameplay is repetitive, you should find contests to enter or go to places you have never been before. One of the most important things of any sim game is to have money. You can make money in many ways in the Sims Online. One way is to use job objects, such as the pizza maker. With this object, four people must work together to add ingredients that would make a good pizza from the choices of ingredients that are available. You must use all the same size ingredients (ex: medium dough, cheese, sauce, and topping)to get a supreme pizza, which is worth the most money. Another way of making money is to attract visitors to your house, since they can give you tips and you receive a visitor bonus determining on how much time they spend there.
A few tips:
1. Do NOT lend people money...I have seen people lend another sim money, only to have that sim disappear, never to be seen again, much less to repay the money.
2. Find people who you like and get along with to associate with. If you choose to play the game with rude or obnoxious people, you most likely will not enjoy the experience.
3. Don't start a house as soon as you begin the game. You won't have enough money to have a large house, and you almost definately won't get any visitors because of this. Room with someone else at first. Later, when you have enough money, you can start your own house. You can, however, choose to continue rooming with someone for as long as you like. Unless they kick you out of the house, you can live there, receive visitor bonus for living there, and help out in buying and building stuff there.
If you follow those tips given above, I am sure you'll have a positive gaming experience. I know that I have definately enjoyed the game. Hope to see you "simming" soon! :)

TSO is the best online game. You hear all these other reviews on how the game blows or how it sucks well it doesnt. These other reviews havent explained enough of wht you can do on the game what so ever. All they explain is how you talk, yea big deal. Trust me this is coming from a VG expert here... TSO is more than just a giant chat room. Yes, there is way more. You control about up to three sims on one account and four on a betaville server. BTW, betaville is one of the cities you can play yet it gives you freedom and lets you control four sims all at once! TSO offers you to get jobs and actually see them work and do the work. You can also get money and prizes, play games, get married, do a lot of things you could do on the old sims games. There are some pros and cons on the game though...
PROS: 1. Get to choose from four jobs and see them work
2. The number of cities to play on and the number of people to meet!
3. You can be a roomie with someone else or make a house of your own and make it sweet!!
4. The game is addicting and you'll spend endless hours playing
5. TSO has some live radio stations broadcasting music and you can make requests!
6. the best online game ever!
CONS: 1. there is an object limit of 100 when u build a house which sucks.
2. EA does maintenance on the game each morning around 7 or 8 o clock eastern standard time which sucks because the cities shut down.
3. Some objects on the game can be quite pricy
4. Skilling to build up your skills to make more money can take a long while to do.
Well thats it, i didnt explain much since i want you to find out on your own so... go out and buy the sims online, ill b waiting for you, BTW, my sim's name is "Jim Goth"
The sims online is great!

I thought this game was a blast! I loved meeting new people and trying out all the new stuff.
"A Gamer" is starting to get on my nerves... we all know you are the same negative person who just didn't enjoy the game as others did!
It is a fun experience and I think it was well worth my money!
It is even more fun when friends you know join up and buy the game! I have made countless houses with many of friends and have jobs that all my sims enjoy and have fun at!
Well unless you are a downer like "A gamer" then I would totally suggest you buy this game. Yes, it is quite an investment but well worth it when you recieve new friends and new experiences!
P.S. Don't ever give out your real name or where you live! Make up a name or create a nickname instead. Many kidnapping occur when people give out too much information on the internet. Have fun and be safe!
Great Game, if You Give it a Shot

It takes some time to get the hang of it, but the game is great to play, and stays true to its word for the most part. Having playtested it since early November, and played it after the commercial release, I've really enjoyed the time I've spent on it. Some people have mentioned not having businesses, but this is not true. The player to player sales system has not been created yet, but a restaurant and many other businesses are possible. In addition, it has great social aspects, and unique ways of making money. But, as we all know, in the Sims it was not making money that was fun. It was building your house, your alter-ego. This brings you all the fun of creating your luxurious palace, or your seaside shack, or whatever you want to create, with roommates to help you, and people to visit and admire it. All in all, this is a great game, with few shortcomings.
Also, I have seen many people saying that they beta tested it early and were disappointed about the lack of objects promised by Maxis. It was in the testing phase! That's what you should expect when testing a game, in any phase. Of course there will be bugs, and not everything will be done, but it's all being worked on. The reason that some things are not complete is because of play testers and the general public pushing for a quick release, and pressure to get it out by Christmas, causing E.A. to release an unfinished version of the game. I still love it though, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the Sims, and has a little patience.

Worlds have been around for ten years. The Vrmls, ActiveWorlds, Atmospheres - they all are great in terms of concept and technology, but they were missing one thing: Popularity. Finally this one is popular beyond the hard-core community and opens worlds to a large audience. It's intelligent, alive and highly addictive.
I like TSO...try it

I like TSO. It passes the time..ya meet kool people. I love my house and my roomies...After reading a ton of reviews here, I have found most of them to be true (good and bad)but this game is not for everyone and not everyone can afford to play (keeps the riff raff out)...but if you play you play for a reason...and that reason is yours alone. You can be anyone you like..act anyway you like...the choice is yours. It's a shame that some people slame the game and probably a good thing that they no longer play. And as there is good and bad in everything we do ..I choose to see the good in TSO. I think the free trial period gives you more than enough time to assess the game before you have to pay for it. I kinda wonder why people would continue playing when the billing starts if they hate it that much. Anyhow...I like TSO...just try it

Having played and loved every Sims expansion introduced by Maxis, I was overjoyed when I finally got to play The Sims Online. For fans of the series who would enjoy a new social dimension to their game, it is a must have title!
The fun in this game is in building and sharing your online home or business with other players, and in gaining new animated actions your sim can learn to perform. In no other online game have I seen people build a house that looks like the starship Enterprise, complete with transporters, science stations, and a viewscreen. Still other players have created their own Sims versions of The Dating Game, or the tv show "Survivor".
Anti-social personalities will not enjoy this game. It's not designed for solo-play, otherwise why have it online!? The focus is on building friendships and relationships with other sims, and the possibilities presented by the Sims environment are limitless!
People sometimes miss the point of some time-consuming activities that exist in the game. They are meant to give you an opportunity to socialize with other players while earning new abilities for your sim over time. The point of Sims Online is not mindless, neverending character advancement as in some multiplayer online role-playing games like EQ and others.
What Sims Online really represents is an exciting and fun way for people to game and socialize together in a more articulated and personal environment than a bland and vacuous chat room.

This is not a fighting game.
This is a role playing world with the Sims that you control. I have found that girl's and women enjoy it the most, but a lot of boys do too.
I enjoy this alot more than the offline sims with the interactions with real people. I have met people all over the world.
Prepare to be addicted

I have been playing TSO for almost a year, and I have never gotten bored! I've made a ton of friends in my 11 months of non-stop gaming. Everyday when I log in, I don't know what to expect. That's what kept my attention for so long.
With the new and improved version, there are pets to spend the time with you while you're home, or visit your friend's pets. There are now 3 ways to make simoleons (the currency in TSO) too. When I tested the restaurant and robot job, it made me want to come back. You can still have fun making pizzas, finding your way through mazes or putting your mech skill to use by building gnomes. There are also some new and crazy NPC's. Maids and gardeners are hilarious while they work.
Every house is unique. Some have great designed houses designed by owners, roomies or people who design houses for a sim-living. Great roof arts, too. Inside these unique lots can be anything you can imagine. I've seen golf courses, hotels, restaurants, and a cooking skill lot with a trailer park green area. Be somebody. Else!
The boards are what made me meet a lot of my TSO friends. You get all the info first on the message boards. What's in the latest patch? The boards tell you! It is also fun to read the posts, about the game, your cities, suggestions and a new off-topic board; and post too!
Some people say that TSO is a "mindless chat room." It is a lot more than that! You can gamble your sims hearts out at one of the casinos, listen to one of many radio stations while you play, go to contests, hang out at your friends lot, make simoleons all while your chatting. It's much more than a chat room. Also, every month, there's something new in TSO. Whether it is new features, a contest held by maxis or even something else, there's something new to log into each month.
