Sims Online rocks if you don't have this game or just bought it read this. Out of all the online games this has got to be the best one. you play with real people and you can get married it is SO addictive. WARNING: You will be addictive and not want to quit. if you are a starter read this.
The first thing you do is make a character you can make up 3 you can not delete a character intil 7 days.when you make friends you get more interactions. (you want to get interactions) you move with your mouse. click on other people to do interactions or click on you and you can do some interactions. on the lower right side the are map filters if you click on one some houses will pop up those are places most people visit. you can get jobs in the newspaper or go on a pc and look one up. thats about it look in the guide if i missed anything.

Many many changes have been made since the inital release. This should've been the version that was initially rolled out. More changes to come!

NOT a Sim

This game has grafics, but is not a Sim game. You dont have your own identity and its really difficult to get along with people. I must say its a careless game they went too far with the grafics without realizing the rest of the game wasnt nearly good enough.

I love The Sims Online

Things To Know Before Investing Your Time

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 4 / 7

The game itself is a remarkable accomplishment in itself. However, there are a few things you should know before investing your time and efforts.

Parents should be aware that there is alot of gang symbolism involved in the communites these days. Part of building up your character includes obtaining special actions when you choose to make a new friend. If someone decides to make you an enemy, you lose these special actions and friendship links. The bad players that join these gangs do so for the sole purpose of making enemies to rob people of their special actions. Maxis and EA has lost all control of this and people are leaving the game rapidly. If you unknowingly move into a neighborhood these people don't like, you can be hit to the point of losing all of your friendships.

The other drawback is that in order to be a popular property you have to keep visitors coming in and staying. If you work hard enough you can be a top property. However, several of the players (mostly the online gangs) buy several accounts and keep non-roommate characters at their properties constantly. If you want to pay for four or five accounts and do this, you have a chance of achieving this game goal. Unfortunately, an honest player will never have a chance to make most of the game goals.

Aside from this, the actual technology behind the game is short of amazing. There are some graphic and system glitches, but nothing major.

Critics Missing the Point

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 9 / 25

Like many people, I just canceled my sims online subscription, after realizing that I hadn't played the game in a week--a game I was paying to play. I agree that in the end the game just isn't fun. But I do feel that those who criticize the game becuase all they do is build up skill levels by reading books or making pizzas so they can make more money, are missing a huge point about the game--YOU DONT NEED MONEY. You don't need a nice property. I never built up my property, never did any of the [weak] exercises designed to improve my sim, and I survived just fine. What frustrated me about the game was not the format, the software, it was the mentality of many who played the game. Very few players actually explore the true possabilities. There is little imagination being used. I was SO excited when this game came out, and I wish I had more time to waste waiting for it to get interesting, which it will, eventually, once people realize you don't need money in the game. I also don't like the idea of an ever-expanding file. I agree they should never have put the game out when they did.

Its ok

I have played the game for about two weeks now. It is a glorified chat room with some extra features. You can make your Sim go through all of the motions that they would do in the desktop version. I have found this game can be played casually meaning you can set your Sim up to do actions then click on another screen, but be sure to check back every so often as to not time out.
Your love of the game will most likely depend on the other Sims you associate with, as this game really depends on careful social engineering. You have to be appealing enough to others to get them to join you in your house, and as room mates.
For Maxis's defense they are constantly working to improve the game, and game balance. I didn't find the game to be as bad as written, but personally I don't think it is my favorite either. Personally, I hate all of the social interaction with all of the other Sims because the game play is so dependent upon it.
It has good graphics, its easy to learn, and might be great if you love to chat and interact, but for the hard core gamer, its unlikely that you will be satisfied.
