This is such a great game! you can play as if you were someone else. Make new friends! I am playing with all my girl friends and we are having a blast. There are many games within the game. There are many cities to explore. My favorite is Jolly Pines. I have been dancing in a night club all night long with my friends. I hope to see you there.
Don't buy if you're only into killing things...

...but if you have an active imagination and love getting goofy with people you've never met before, then this game is definitely for you! Just one word of warning: Be prepared to shell out $9.95 per month, because you WILL be addicted! Even so, considering the price of the average MMORPG subscription is well over $14 per month, The Sims Online is an absolute bargain you'll never be able to put down!

I was pleasantly suprised when I played this game, normally I am more of a RPG guy, but this ame is crazy. A lot more creative than I was expecting. I loved it... getting it for the kids as an x-mas gift...

I was very reluctant about buying this game ...I am a Sims addict, and have never used chat rooms before in my life; I don't even enjoy talking to new people! However, I decided to try this game, and I can't tell you how pleased it is. I've already met four friends, and there is a vast array of personalities to choose to get to know. Yes, I do believe with the other reviews that say it is a glorified chat room.
But what fun I have when I DO log on....
...P>Now, whatever you do, don't expect this game to be at all like the regular sims game in very many respects. It is a whole new way to have a great time!
Best game I ever played

I have been playing TSO for almost a year, and I have never gotten bored! I've made a ton of friends in my 11 months of non-stop gaming. Everyday when I log in, I don't know what to expect. That's what kept my attention for so long.
With the new and improved version, there are pets to spend the time with you while you're home, or visit your friend's pets. There are now 3 ways to make simoleons (the currency in TSO) too. When I tested the restaurant and robot job, it made me want to come back. You can still have fun making pizzas, finding your way through mazes or putting your mech skill to use by building gnomes. There are also some new and crazy NPC's. Maids and gardeners are hilarious while they work.
Every house is unique. Some have great designed houses designed by owners, roomies or people who design houses for a sim-living. Great roof arts, too. Inside these unique lots can be anything you can imagine. I've seen golf courses, hotels, restaurants, and a cooking skill lot with a trailer park green area. Be somebody. Else!
The boards are what made me meet a lot of my TSO friends. You get all the info first on the message boards. What's in the latest patch? The boards tell you! It is also fun to read the posts, about the game, your cities, suggestions and a new off-topic board; and post too!
Some people say that TSO is a "mindless chat room." It is a lot more than that! You can gamble your sims hearts out at one of the casinos, listen to one of many radio stations while you play, go to contests, hang out at your friends lot, make simoleons all while your chatting. It's much more than a chat room. Also, every month, there's something new in TSO. Whether it is new features, a contest held by maxis or even something else, there's something new to log into each month.

The TSO Game is so stupid in many ways. First, it is impossible to earn money, and the only way to is by making your skills go up, which takes a whole lot of time watching your sim stand in front of the mirror and blab. If you start out alone, your dead because everything is expensive, especially building a house that costs 7,000 Simoleans, ant a lot of 2,000 Simoleans, and you have to have a bed, refridgerator and some decorations that costs tons of money.

I am a longtime player of this game, and I do have a few observations and points that I haven't seen anyone else make here that are based on my own experiences with the game. I have tried on many occasions with a few interested others to get together a government in one of the established cities that would clamp down on the "crime" in the city (the mafia), but it has never taken off. Everyone is too busy trying to skill so they can make money so they can have the biggest house so they can attract visitors so they can get on the top 100 list (and make more money in the process). It's all about popularity and money, and I do agree with other reviewers that these goals are dubious. It seems, however, that there is a contradiction here; some complain, for example, that there is no political structure or government or that they want Maxis to take control and deal with the problems caused by the Sim mafia. Others complain about the lack of creativity and the restraints placed upon them by the game.
Folks, the game is only going to be as interesting and exciting as the players in it and the cities are only going to be as complex as the people inhabiting them. Others have complained about the shallow goals in the game of making money and gaining popularity-- perhaps we should look around. Maxis does share some responsibility in this, of course, for putting out a game that was not really ready for release, and eventually the goals and gameplay may be expanded.
But should we be that surprised that the major goals are getting as much money and popularity/fame/notoriety in the Sims Online--a game simulating life in industrialized Westernized society?

I've allways been a big sims fan, but this time it's gone too far! Adults already have enough bills as it is, and kids are out busy buying their own things. Who wants to have just another bill when they can be out buying someting for their own enjoyment. As I scroled through all of the reviews, I found that some people loved the game, some people hated it, and some people couldn't care less. Lots of people are talking about money problems, but whatever happened to all of the cheats? There are the two money cheats, the move objects cheat (where you can be your own maid and not get your sims upset) and all of the other less important cheats. The sims games have all been great, but this time the've gone too far! I guess I'll just have to wait for the sims celebrity to come out, but if ther's still a monthly fee, It'll probably be yet another sims online.

The game has potential, but will that potential be realized? I don't think so. People are sick of the game already. I'm a beta tester for the game, and, bluntly put, turning around and making yourself dizzy is a lot more fun than this game.
If you're a casual gamer, steer way clear from this one. This game is set up for the people who can play 5+ hours a day EVERY day.
First off, you probably want to buy this game because of the way it's been advertised. Run a casino, own a shop, be a thief. Nope, Nope, Nope. You can do none of that. You can't even trade objects with other players. (It's all in the works -- just like it has been since October!).
This may well be the most hyped game of all time. The hype was deserved, but now all they've got on their hands is a a giant FLOP.
The game *still* isn't ready for release, and it's been in the stores for three weeks now. No major changes have been made since the game has been released, because they're concentrating on stabilizing the servers and minor bugs, which should have been taken care of in the beta.
This game was rushed into production, the advertising is false, and all you have is a big ball of hype and hope to hang on to, because the game will not get any better any time soon.
One more thing I might add: If you decide to go ahead and buy this game in spite of all the bad reviews, and once you find out how right all the bad reviews are and want to cancel, you'd better start the cancellation process at least one week before your free trial runs out. THERE IS NO ONLINE CANCELLATION FEATURE IN THIS GAME. You click on a link, and it gives you a toll free number to call, and then you have to deal with customer service reps. ... Tell them it's unacceptable and you need to talk to somebody now. Trust me on this one.
