This game is great. There's no question. If you have any dought, just look at these posts. When I wrote this, there were 158 posts, the latest being in Feb. 2002. This game was realeased in 1998, and thousands of people are still playing it everyday. The game can not get old, with the campaign editor, the limit really is your imagination. Like anything online, you have to watch out for certain people, but if your careful its extremely obvious which games you should avoid. If you ever do get bored (highly un-likely) of this game, you can join a "clan", kind of like a club or online community for Starcraft players to liven things up. There is a downside...I actually had to sell my copy of Starcraft because I played it so much, this game is ADDICTING. Put a limit on yourself or you will find yourself playing way too often. Buy this Battlechest because you need the ex-pansion pack anyways and get in on a great game.

I am sort of new to Starcraft. I got the battle chest for Christmas, and ever since, I have been hooked on Starcraft. In the single player missions, the story line is just great. The fact that you can play as 3 races mkaes Starcraft even better. Starcraft, as well as any game with multiplayer capability, keeps the fun going, even if you have beaten the single player missions. Finally, the map creator is one of the best features. By designing a map, you can use it for online games, or play the computer. The possibilities are ENDLESS.
Kudos, Blizzard. Please continue with Starcraft II, which I've heard some interseting rumors about.

The map editor is great. You can do so many things with triggers. There are alot of stardraft patchers that bring many more possibilities. Also with some programs you can create your own AI Script. Of all games "Starcraft is the best"

I was always good at starcraft and played it at friend's houses before and I really liked what I saw. After getting used to starcraft, I learned that the expansion made the game a lot better. so, i figured, why not, and I bought it. The expansion with the game is great. I really think this is a great deal- mainly because its a lot of fun, and its cheap. the N64 version is 30 more dollars and its graphics and playing style are worse. the multiplayer is (in my opinion) the best part. after a couple years practice, i became very good and I could battle anybody that stood in my way. Take my advise and buy this game if you want lots of fun.

Starcraft is the best game that i've played on a PC so far. Me and my brother, both have been playing this game for years. Anyone that hasn't played this game should give it a try before they prejudge it.

A Classic among RTS games

StarCraft is already established as one of the finest RTS games ever made, joining other titles such as Command and Conquer, Total Annihilation, and Age of Empires. It has won numerous awards and has sold millions of compies. But that's not the only reason to play it.

The gameplay is incredibly balanced and unique. Each of the three races one can command has different strategies and advantages. One, the Terrans, is basically humans with advanced technology. The Protoss are a technologically advanced psionic race, while the Zerg are a ravenous horde of insectlike creatures.

The single player campaign is quite entertaining, following a unique storyline filled with tension, and riveted with betrayal, and sacrifice.

With Battle.net, the free online gaming service provided by Blizzard, you can connect to the internet and play with other people around the world. If you ever get tired of playing regular games, you can choose custom designed maps, made by other players. The object of these custom games is often different from the original seek-and-conquer intent of a standard game, but they can be as fun, if not more.

This is one of my favorite games, right up there with Neverwinter Nights and Counterstrike 1.6. This and those two games are about the only video games I ever play anymore, and with good reason. They are awesome games. The campaigns are fantastic, but what is possibly my favorite is the online play with other people. This is a must-have for any RTS lover.

I doubt that Blizzard will make a better game than this. It's indeed the work of a genious, who left the company shortly afterwards. Thus, I don't expect much from the sequel.

If you haven't play this, then it's probably because you are 13 or less year old, or because you don't play computer games in general. In any case if you are looking for RTS than stop: this is the one!

Personally, I think StarCraft is one of the best RTS games of its type, ever made! At the very least, it is definitely the best one I've ever played (though people say WarCraft is even better!). I haven't even made it through the entire game yet, but the missions not only get harder as you move on, they also get more interesting.
The way the game is structured, there are three campaigns in the initial part of the game: Terran, Zerg, and Protoss, and you play them in that order. Because of the three different distinct species, the game stays very interesting because the way you build your armies changes drastically between species. Each of the campaigns also has an interesting story line to go with it as well as extremely well rendered eye popping space cinematics. Ultimately all the story lines tie together into one big epic tale of multi species galactic warfare.
I haven't even tried the more advanced features of the game, like online play, and customized campaigns, but I'm already hooked. This game is well worth the money, and if you are new to it, the Battle Chest is perfect because it comes with a strategy guide, both the original game and the expansion set, play guides, and a World of Warcraft demo, all at one low price. The only thing you have to worry about when playing this game is the fact that it's a time blackhole. I can easily drop four or five hours into this game at a single sitting, and the time just flies by! So be careful, it's a wonderful game, and it's also extremely addicting!

In my opinion, Starcraft is and was the best computer game ever made. I played it religiously 8 years ago, and even now I pop it in to play every once in a while. There's so many thing you can do, online and off. The custom games on [...] give this game years, if not decades of replay value.

The price is cheap, the computer requirements are low- Buy this game!
