I am one of the biggest freaks for RPGs, and I am more than happy with this game.
The beginning is slow and boring, but if you take it in, the game will be so juicy you won't want to let it down. The games that good.
The graphics are great, and you have to work for the cutscenes (this has got to be a first for cutscenes!) that will help explain the game.
If you are working on a RPG collection for the GBA, (I have 13, so I can brag....) this game is going to stand out like a skyscraper. A MUST BUY!
MUST HAVE THIS GAME

Okay, this isn't Final Fantasy Tactics for PS1, but did the PS1 version have a multiplayer system or a joint mission system that could help you gain better items or level up secret weapons? No, it didn't. This cannot be compared to Final Fantasy Tactics because they are completely different.
Problems with this game is basically the story line. This game was aimed more towards the younger fans so of course you cannot find the usual RPG story line elements. But to anyone reading this, please don't take the story line into consideration. Don't play this game for the storyline. Play this game for the same reason everyone played pokemon. It was addicting due to training different pokemon and playing with your friends. This game is the same. You can even train your units.
Most of the original job classes were removed (calculator especially), but there are even better classes that have been put in its place (such as the assassin and the illusionist). This element adds lots of strategy you can think up of.
PLEASE BUY THIS GAME FOR YOUR OWN HAPPINESS. It will take of many hours of your time, but I'm sure you'll like it (unless your someone who doesn't appreciate anime and RPGs and enjoys playing sports games and GTA)
A must have rpg game.

FFTA is a fun and strategic game. It is perfect to play when you're on a trip. It is difficult and may get confusing sometimes, but hey, thats what games are supposed to be like. Anyway the graphics are so-so and the gameplay is fabulous. The only problem I have with this game is the music. The music sounds to egyptian and kidish. Otherwise, this a hot product.
This game however, gets boring after a while, If your a Gold,Siver version fan this statement won't apply to you. All you do is missions and level up your characters. But this is still a must have and won of the top games of the 2003 year. So get FTTA at your local video game store. Like I said, it gets boring after 5 or 6 months after you bought it but you probaly would have beaten it by now.
FFT evolves into an amazing handheld marvel.

If you liked FFT for the playstation, this is definately the next best thing available for a handheld console. While Square-Enix loves to twiddle with gameplay mechanics, it is still without a doubt an incredable game.

FFTA is a truly great game. It's a turn-based strategy game. It's sort of like Advance Wars, but more RPGish. Travel to the magical land of Ivalice, form a clan, do missions, collect items, raise your characters...there's a lot to do. Graphics are quite nice, as is sound/music. However, some of the music gets repetitive after a while. The controls are quite easy to learn, and the ability system is pretty simple. The story is nice, but it's kinda weird and predicitable at times. If you have a GBA, you should buy this.

I own many GBA games (like golden sun, advance wars, ect.), but FFTA is by far the best. The graphics are great, changing jobs and recruiting new units is also very fun. I got the game Nov 2 2003, and i have been playing for 30 hours (about an hour a day) and I'm not even close to being 1/4 of the way done of the 300 mission game. If you want a great game to never get boring or repetitive, get FFTA. You wont regret it.
A mediocre follow-up to a great game

When I picked up this title I expected the gripping storyline, good music, and great battle system of the Playstation's Final Fantasy Tactics. What I found was a big disappointment.
While the battle system is essentially the same, possibly better (thanks to the ability to take back your move action)I found the whole job thing annoying. The fact that my moogle and my snake-thingee-whatever the f***-it-is couldnt learn the same jobs and moves ticked me off. I also didn't like having to essentially buy out the store's entire inventory just to learn new moves, or waiting around to learn a move when the item wasn't available yet!
The judges were another annoying change. It sucks really bad when you've got a law saying you can't damage monsters when you're facing monsters. And with over 100 hours of gameplay, that is a lot of annoyance by rules.
My biggest complaint, though, was the total lack of a good storyline. Unlike the uber-mature FFT storyline, FFTA is annoyingly non-existant, and when it is, much less dramatic and more "chipper". The fact that I spent God-knows how many hours just getting to the storyline makes me kind of ticked when it's a boring one.
The moves aren't as great either. What happened to when you could change your opponent into a chicken, hack away at the chicken, heal the chicken, hack away at the chicken, heal..etc. and gain like 10 levels?! And I can't throw rocks at my enemies anymore!
On the plus side, the graphics rival that of FFT's (I still like the original maps better though)and my non-hack and slash people level up the same as teh hack and slash ones (my chemists, bms, wms, etc. didnt like learning their own job's skills in FFT, just everyone else's). The music was a little repetitive, but so did FFT's after 50 hours of gameplay. Overall, this game deserves a C. Don't buy it if you're not a big Final Fantasy fan.

As a huge fan of the original Final Fantasy Tactics for the Playstation console, simply the rumor of this game's pending arrival convinced me to purchase a Gameboy Advance SP.
Luckily, Square|Enix has come through again with a great title - both similar to the original enough to keep fans of Final Fantasy Tactics happy, and innovative enough to keep them from tiring of the title. Over 300 missions await the player, as well as Clan Battles (skirmishes with other parties), and great Boss fights.
Fans of the original will recognize the interface and world map, as well as the tactical overview. Other than the inability to move the camera on the tactical map, the map system has not really changed from the original. This inability is not actually even a drawback, however, as there never are many moments when you can't see everything that is going on.
This title adds Judges and Laws to the mix, as well as Totema. Judges are there simply to enforce Laws, the manifestations of a willful Prince getting his way. These can be as limited as rulings against using "Rapiers" or "Steal" in a particular area, or as broad as ruling against "Copycatting" (doing the same action as the player before you). Repercussions include fines, and possible jail time. On the other hand, the Judges award "Job Points", or JP, when you successfully defeat an enemy, or use a recommended ability. (For each Law, there is a Recommended ability, such as a Law against Fire comes with Ice being Recommended)
You can then spend these JP to perform Combo attacks with your fellow characters, or to summon a Totema if you have released it, doing massive damage to all enemies on the board.
In short, if you want a great game to play for 5 minutes or 5 hours, and enjoy strategy gaming mixed with high fantasy, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is a really great bang for your buck.

This is the best game i have ever played on any game boy system. Even though i am only 20 hours into this game i would like to tell every one out there who is thinking about buying it that the only downfall of the game is that your main character looks like a girl. That isnt that bad. Ive palyed tactics on ps1 and this is alot better if you asked me. There are new jobs races weapons and abilitys. Two other major changes are that you do not get jp to get a jop change you have to get a certain amount of abilitys for one of the jobs you start wit to change and that there is no recomened fit when you want to buy weapon's armor etc. etc..
