With all the hype for WSB2k1 you would've thought it would've got an 11 outof 10 but instead it was horrible. So you can't rate anything until this game actually comes out

Long awaited, sorely disappointed

First I want to say that I am a huge baseball fan, and that WSB 2K1 was completely underrated and 2K2 is equally overrated. 2K1 had hands down the BEST GRAPHICS I've ever seen in a sports game. The pitching and batting of all players was right on the money, a perfect 10. Full motion, breaking pitches looked so sharp, you could even see the seams! While the fielding was automatic, the plays looked realistic and had full motion and extreme detail. The editor was fabulous too, although I wouldn't mind changing the height and weight too! It's wrong to call 2K1 a failure (an example of failure would be all 3 baseball games on PS2), because if only the fielding were changed to manual, that would have been the greatest game of all time. Meanwhile in 2K2, I lost hope. To start, the graphics aren't even close to 2K1, pitching and batting motion is strange, even cartoon like. Also, pitches don't break AT ALL- a fastball looks just like a screwball. Batting stances aren't correct (especially Bonds), and balls outside the strike zone are still strikes. To continue, yes, you have manual fielding, but a normal 6-4-3 double play is almost impossible, because it seems as though everyone is as fast as Maurice Green. Plus the fielders dive way too far, but at least they can jump. To add to that, the editor is [weak] too. You can't even change the faces, pitching stance, or batting stance, so it's all a clone team. Then to top that off, as the GM (who's suppose to have control) can't even trade half the people you want to because of NO TRADE contracts. That's poor. Hitting is far too difficult, and in 2 player mode, you can't even hide your pitch. The only pluses I can give are exceptional commentary, online play, and home run derby. This game needs much improvement.

Should be Good

WSB2K1 WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES. i WAS DISSAPOINTED WITH SOME THINGS: THE FIELDING WAS HORRIBLE. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY SEGA WOULD THINK AUTO FIELDING WOULD BE GOOD. WHEN A FRIEND AND I WERE PLYING IT WAS 0-0 IN THE 9TH HE HAD A NO-HITTER GOING AND I HAD A GUY ON 3RD(he was walked). I HIT A GROUNDER RIGHT AT THE SHORTSTOP AND HE TURNED AROUND AND THE BALL WENT RIGHT THROUGH HIM. I WON ON THAT HIT! THATS NOT MY IDEA OF A GOOD GAME. THE STATS WEREN'T TOO GOOD. THE STADIUMS WERE VERY NICE EXCEPT WHEN I HIT HOMERS IT WOOULD GO OVER AND IT WOULD GO RIGHT THRU AN OBJECT OR THE GROUND. WHEN I HIT ONE AT PAC BELL IN SF. IT JUST HIT THE WATER LIKE IT WAS GROUND AND JUST STOPPED. I HIT A GRAND SLAM THAT HIT THE FOUL POLE AND IN WAS CALLED A FOUL BALL. THEN THE OTHER TEAM HIT ONE AT A DIFFERENT STADIUM OFF THE POLE AND IT WAS FAIR. PLUS, YOU NEED A FRANCHISE MODE AND A CREATE-TEAM OPTION. WHEN YOU THROW FROM THE OUTFIELD ITS A LOLLIPOP THROW EVEN IF YOU THROW WITH GUERRERO WHO HAS THE BEST ARM IN THE LEAGUE. I LOVED THE GRAPHICS THOUGH. THE ONLY THING I LIKED ABOUT THE AUTO FIELDING WAS THAT THEY MADE SOME AWSEOME PLAYS. AND THE THROWS WERE QUICK AND COOL. IS THERE EVER AN ERROR? I JUST WISH I COULD BUNT FOR A HIT. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A MODE WHERE IN A FRANCHISE YOU GET MONEY OR POINTS FOR CERTAIN ACHIEVEMENTS LIKE WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP OR HAVING THE MVP ON YOUR TEAM OR 100 WINS. THEN YOU CAN BUILD ON TO YOUR STADIUM BY BUYING PARTS OR MAKING A STADIUM WITH ENOUGH POINTS AND PICK WHERE IT IS LIKE BY WATER OR IN THE DESERT. THEN PICK DISTANCE OF WALLS AND HEIGHT OF THEM. THAT WOULD BE A DREAM THOUGH. I WISH THERE WERE MORE AWARDS, GOLD GLOVES, ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, CY YOUNG,MVP,ALLSTAR MVP, ETC. AND ONE MORE THING, I THINK YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE 2 PLAYERS ON THE SAME TEAM INSTEAD OF 1 ON 1 OR 1 VS CPU. THAT WOULD MAKE IT GREAT. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.

Would choose no stars if there was a choice.

This game is TERRIBLE. Let's go down the list. When the ball is hit into the outfield the outfielder never makes a running catch with his glove, but with...hmmmm...nothing. The ball is just caught, but by what? Who knows. Offense is WAY to easy in the game, example, 2 homers with Rey Ordonez in one game, but pitching...my goodness. If you pitcher gives up one run, take him out! Or else, he'll never find his groove back and he'll give up a million more runs. There's nothing you can do about it because the cpu will basically keep on driving in runs through the infield. There are so many glitches in the commentary, it's no even funny. Wrong calls all over the place. And what's with there being an error or two in almost every game! It's like there always has to be an error in a game. Now let's talk about the camera angle after a ball is hit. It's terrible, it does not zoom in. The ball is hit into the outfield and you have to pretty much hope that you are in that little red circle to make the catch and what happened to all of the nice defensive plays from WSB2K1? Those were great, all you do in this game is pick up and throw. Really ugly. I actually broke my disc in half and threw it away just five minutes ago and I'm happier than ever. Everyone who has this game should do the same and don't make the mistake of buying this piece of junk.

DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY![....]

This game is garbage compared to 2k1. I don't know what they were thinking. My biggest problem is the excessive control they give the controller. I've probably played 20 games so far and almost every game, when I had to try to field something hit in the infield and missed it, the ball would roll into the outfield. Then the controller would automatically set to he outfielder who would start going in the direction I had the infielder going. And by the time I would get to the ball, the player would have stretched (maybe) a single to a double or triple. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

(...). Ya I admit you could finally play defense but they totally changed everything. What happened to saying how many home runs they had after they hit one? What happened to the home runs and what the hell is that new system of hitting? What are those graphics? It went from great graphics to terrible graphics. It was a big let down. (...). So i have to say BOOOOOO.

homerun derby rules are completely made up: you get a number of pitches, not a number of outs. documentation is ridiculous, a 4th grader must've written it, it is wrong in many instances, and is pointless. throwing it away as soon as u buy the game is a good idea - it will save you from lots of frustration. franchise mode is pathetic: there is no free agent contract signing - all the free agents are put into a pool and you draft them. second, one to one trading? give me a break.

playoff mode - you cannot choose the difficulty of play in this mode, it just kinda picks for itself. the game is decent, not good and definitely not great. i think they must have put in a lot of modes as a sales gimmick, but trust me, rent it before you buy it. you'll see just as i found out that the modes are for show and lack substance.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

Maybe I am being critical... but after much hype this game is a total disappointment. For some reason Sega decided to change the way you throw the ball in this game. You have to use the A,B,X and Y buttons to throw to each base. Every baseball game I have ever played uses the stick to throw to each base. Sega does not even give you the option to change the conbtrols! This in itself is annoying enough to label this a disappointment and the game isn't that great in all other aspects...

horrible

world series baseball 2k2 is probably the worst baseball game i have ever played in my life. home run derby stinks. the players dont even look like themselves, the game was just horrible. world series 2k1 is much better than this. batting is much harder, than the first. if your thinking of buying this, think again because you will hate it.
