With all the hype for WSB2k1 you would've thought it would've got an 11 outof 10 but instead it was horrible. So you can't rate anything until this game actually comes out

(...). Ya I admit you could finally play defense but they totally changed everything. What happened to saying how many home runs they had after they hit one? What happened to the home runs and what the hell is that new system of hitting? What are those graphics? It went from great graphics to terrible graphics. It was a big let down. (...). So i have to say BOOOOOO.

Overall, I like WSB2K2. However, the game is not without its faults. I pitched a no-hitter with the game's signature player (Pedro). At the end of the game I ended up with 1 strikeout, no walks, and no celebrations. I think the catcher received player of the game. You'd think that there would be some sort of mentioning of this by the game's commentator, but nothing. The game is good and worth the $$ since the console price has dropped. Maybe WSB2K3 will be a hybrid of 2K1 and 2k2...Let's hope.

Some good points.

I rate the Game a 8. there are some good parts and a couple of
bad parts. The graphic's are good and the franchise mode is
great.. The one weak part of the game is the Gameplay. the
pitcher is slow to the plate. and the play in the field is weak.
Batting is O.K. but I wish it took a little more skill to be
good. all in all I would only by this game on sale. ...

Okay baseball fans

Do Not buy this game if you're looking for a 4 player baseball game. This game is only 2 player game...,no 2 people on teams vs 2 other on line,...other wise this game is good, easy to play,Graphics look good, most liky the best baseball game around.

After reading about how Sega had really messed up WSB2K1, I was completely deterred from even renting it. But when I heard that Sega was stepping down and letting Visual Concepts up to bat for 2K2, I, like many others, was looking forward to a great sporting experience similar to Visual Concepts' previous titles (NFL2K1, NBA2K1, etc.). And while it's a solid game that captures the feel of baseball, it has its shortcomings. WSB2K2 looks all right graphically, and the animations look cool but sometimes fail to animate. My player has spotted the fly-ball and is positioned to make the catch, but his arm seems to have gotten stuck and won't lift to grab the ball. That's all right though -- he somehow manages to catch the ball as it collides with his head. And those action replays that we've all come to love are completely absent. I know there isn't that much intense action in baseball, but come on! that was an awesome homerun that deserves to be shown again. Sound is good, but the announcer never digresses to talk about the players and recent plays like they do in the NFL2Ks and NBA2Ks. Sometimes he's altogether wrong: I hit it deep, and the announcer shouts, "Homerun!" just as it crashes into the wall and drops short for an in-play double. The game modes in WSB2K2 are the usuals that you find in most sports games today. There's the single exhibition game, the season that you can customize from the very short 10-game run to the regular baseball season of 162 games, a playoff mode that jumps you straight to the excitement of the post-season, and the ultra-cool franchise mode that lets you mess around with a team by trading, drafting, and managing your players season-to-season. There's also a Home Run Derby, but it isn't very fun and is really just a place to work out your swing. You can also play 2K2 online, but, though I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying online gaming as of yet (too pricey), I have heard people complaining of lags. As I said earlier, this game is pretty solid in its simulation of the gameplay associated with America's pastime; it's just all the little things that make it suck. Firstly, yes, the game is two players, but only against one another. Why can't we play together? That's where Acclaim's All-Star Baseball 2001 is better. But I guess I'll just have to live with trading the controller back and forth. Secondly, Visual Concepts really messed up the Create-a-Player. Sure, they allow you to customize your player's height and weight, the color of his glove and bat, and even his shirt style, but there's no option to give him a characteristic pitching or batting stance, or even an age. There's even a glitch that doesn't allow you to change the color of the first baseman's glove. And get this, you can only create three players. Three measly players! Why bother even giving us the option to make players if they can't even give us enough to constitute a full nine-man team? Once again, All-Star Baseball wins this category. And thirdly, the only thing that doesn't seem to accurately depict the sport of baseball is the low amount of strike-outs you'll accumulate. You can pitch and get one strike, two strikes, but if it's going to be a third strike, the computer will almost always hit it; it may be a foul or a fly-ball for an easy out, but he usually hits it. You'll be lucky if you get four strike-outs a game. WSB2K2 isn't as good as I hoped it would be from Visual Concepts. In fact, if it weren't that you see their name each time you boot up the game, you wouldn't think that Visual Concepts had anything to do with it. Still, it isn't bad. Overall, if you want good gameplay with better graphics, go for WSB2K2, but if you want good gameplay with better customization, go with All-Star Baseball 2001.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

Maybe I am being critical... but after much hype this game is a total disappointment. For some reason Sega decided to change the way you throw the ball in this game. You have to use the A,B,X and Y buttons to throw to each base. Every baseball game I have ever played uses the stick to throw to each base. Sega does not even give you the option to change the conbtrols! This in itself is annoying enough to label this a disappointment and the game isn't that great in all other aspects...

Just let me start by saying that I purchased this game 3 days ago, played a few times over the weekend, and I'm returning it for store credit today. Maybe this game would not have been so disappointing if the wait for it hadn't been so long- either way, it's not that good. The instruction booklet states that in home run derby you can pick from any player in the game- not true- there are 8 players to choose from and they aren't Griffey- Ramirez, Sheffield. While the parks do look decent, very rarely are you shown any view of the field other than looking at the pitcher from the batters box. You cannot adjust the players position in the batters box and using the Red Sox, Manny Ramirez hit 2 home runs per game in the 1st 3 games I played. Let's see what else, your outfielder doesn't need to be facing the ball to catch it on the fly- you can run back to the ball- and your guy can be standing there facing the crowd- and somehow still catch the ball and when I finally saw Pedro throw a fastball over 94 MPH- it still looked incerdibly slow.

A huge problem is that you can't even play anything else w/out removing the VMU unless you delete the VMU files- how stupid is that? Overall, not a horrible game to rent on weekends for die hard baseball fans, but other than that- don't waste your money. colege football better be better than this or a PS 2 is in my future!

Good game glitches that they havent found I think
