OK, you're at home, tied in the bottom of the 6th. Terry Mulholland is up to bat, but it's a bunting situation, so you leave him in. You take the lead, and bring in Dennis Cook, who finishes the game and, get this, gets credit for the win and the save. ?
I think this game is best in mulitiplayer. (It seems several reviewers neglected to read the manual and see how to fool opponents whn choosing pitch location.)
In single player, the game is fun, with fairly realistic ball physics for a console game, but you will become frustrated fast.
My biggest problem is that pitchers hit home runs at least as much as any other position. Today, Dave Mliki went deep on Curt Schilling two at bats in a row. Hey, even Byung-Yun Kim has a 2B and a HR off me in two at bats.
In the highest difficulty setting, all my players are hitting over .350, with most over .425.
Any player with even moderate speed can steal 2nd with guaranteed success. (Thc catcher doesn't even bother throwing on Mike Cameron.)
Let's just say that's the tip of the iceberg with this game.
Play the game before you review it!

I am so sick of everyone giving this game bad reviews. Quit your whining!
This is by afr the best baseball video game availible and the bets on the Dreamcast. What's up with people complaining abou the graphics? They are better than last years version.
Then they compalin about the defense. First of all they compalin about haivng auto fielding then they complain about fielding being too hard! Fielding is very easy.
The pitching is amazing. Every pitcher pitches exactly like they do in the Major League's. From Curt Schilling to Tom Glavine to Roger Clemens. They all pitch just like they actually do i the MLB. Also having hot and cold zones for each batter helps you get your opponents out much easier.
The hitting is also great. Last year it was impossible to score at all, but this year there's always a mix of pitching duels and games with a lot of runs. Hitting only takes the use of the joystick and one button unlike some other systems games where it takes 3 buttons to do one thing.
There are only a few things that bug me about this game 1) You are called out stealing a lot when you should bbe safe 2) After hitting a homerun wheter you're Sammy Sosa or Livan Hernandez they all run around pumping their fists int he air, no Sosa leap, no nothing. 3) Every once in a while you will hit several homeruns in a row, which leds to blow-outs against the computer 4) On rookie level you can see where the computer is going to pitch before they pitch, it is so easy I scored 22 runs before the ocmputer got an out
This is an amazing game and is a must-have for Dreamcast owners. The ebst Dreamcast baseball game.
Great game

This is one of the best baseball games I have ever played, and i've played some great ones. The curveballs actually drop insted of just curving, and it's easier to call your pitches than W.S.B.2k1. Most of the rosters are up-to-date, and it's sweet that you have the minors on franchise mode. The price is fair, and i think it's worth it. Buy this game!

you people are stupid.one of you said my stats are saved but i keep playing the same game.after you play a season game go to save changes.i have no clue why you think the outfield is so hard.i think its easy.i will amidt some ground balls are hard to get.i also agree some of the stances aren't correct.but the only major flaw i see is 2 player.it is really ...the oppenent sees the ball.you people in my opinon are to picky.this game is pretty cool.there are some flaws that are bad but not enough to make you hate this game.also SEGA MAKES THEY BEST SPORTS GAMES
A point about players' names

To correct someone's earlier review: The reason certain players' names are changed, like Benny Agbayani, for example, is because he's not a member of the Major League Baseball Players Union. It's the same case with Rick Reed and a few others (these players were replacement players during the last lock-out and therefore have not yet been accepted into the players' union). With licensed MLB products, only actual MLB union members are allowed to be depicted for licensing purposes. So what's why you never see their names in MLB-related stuff. Someone comment earlier that players like Benny were left out so that programmers could use their own names in the game, which is a TOTAL falsehood.

I own this game for the dremcast platform and I relly love the game especially the franchise mode. The only problems being that:
1.It takes 192 blocks of your VMU to save (like all other Sega Sports games for Dreamcast).
2.And in multiplayer mode you can see what part of the strike zone your opponent pitchet the ball in when at bat.
But all in all it is a good game
GRAPHICS ARE AMAZING, VERY UNREALISTIC

any buyers who are considering buying this game should read. the gameplay is outstanding. the graphics, stadiums, player features, etc. are the best i've seen. the fielder control and new pitching/batting engines also lived up to their promises. if this is all you want buy it. BUT the games are very unrealistic: the games are too high scoring. a usual game for me is 12-10 on all-star. as long as you don't score many runs(3-5) the games will be reasonable. i intentionally get out just to do that. my starters usually go about 4IP w/ 7 runs. the CPU will ALWAYS get a huge inning if you get a couple of runs. their is also about 6-10 HR a game. THIS IS REDICULOUS!! also some of the managerial moves, or lack of them make it a bad buy. in a tight game the CPU won't even pinchh hit for the pitcher in the 8th in a 10-9 game. you can also tag up and advance on any ball hit in the air. even in the infield, they just throw it to the next base(even on all-star). i have never gotten a starter to go more than 7 in. The franchise is cool especially w/ the draft. BUT...if you got a guy you don'y like you can trade your fielder for an equal or worse fielder, or a SP for a SP, or a RP for RP. All must be one for one deals. the create a player suxx due to ... that i haven't even played(HR DERBY, PLAYOFF). all in all the graphics and game play are great but the game lacks reality which makes having a team fun. i suggest you rent it before you buy it
