WORLD SERIES BASEBELL 2K LINE STRIKES OUT AGAIN

I was so excited when heard that Sega was making another baseball game for the Dreamcast. I just knew that there was no way that WSB2K2 would be as bad as the previous edition. Boy was I wrong.

First of all, what's up with the fielding? I mean it seems that every ball hit is a frozen rope, and impossible to field. Once in while, I was able to get to the balls that weren't hit too hard, but usually everything just shot right by my fielder. Also, when you go after a ball that you think you have a chance of getting, the computer will automatically switch to the outfielder, so you just barely miss making a play. As far as the outfield, the only thing they were good for was making catches. There is no possible way to throw a computer runner out, because it will not go beyond a sure base.

As for the hitting, I think it was way to easy to get a solid hit. And the homeruns, it seemed like whenever you hit one, it looks like you're hitting it out of a little league field.

The absolute worse thing about this game is the amount of bugs in it. I am not able to advance to additional games. My stats are saved, but I still keep playing the same game. Horrible, absolutely horrible!

The one bright side about the game is the pitching interface. It seemed realistic.

Overall, I hate this game. I wish that Visual Concepts had spent more time on fixing the bugs before releasing it. You know that they had plenty of people testing the game, but they felt it was more important to meet a release date, instead of producing a quality baseball game. If you are searching for the best baseball game available, check out High Heat 2002 for the PC. From what I've seen, it is the most realistic game to date. It doesn't have the best graphics, but the gameplay is awesome.

From this point on, I am boycotting all future WSB2K games, but of course I doubt there will be anymore.

You know, when i purchased world series 2k1 last summer, i thought i was in for a real treat. Then i played it and, to tell you the truth, it really stunk.I couldnt believe it, fifty dollars sown the freakin drain! The thing wasnt the grapics, it was beautiful, but the gamplay stunk. Now they came out with this years installment, i expect it to be much better, especially since u can go online and challege people, and download the latest rosters. I expect it to blow all the other baseball titles out of the water! This time, i know it will it will be worth my 50 smackers!

Light years ahead of WSB 2K1, but still could be better

Great first attempt from Visual Concepts, a very fun and playable game, hindered by a few things:

a) Occasional sound glitches - the announcers voice will either speed up or distort for about a second once every 1-2 games. Or, the crowd sounds will be shifted entirely to the left speaker for about a second once every 1-2 games.

b) Dancing fielders - On some popups, I'd say around 5% of the time the CPU fielder sidesteps left to right very quickly while positioned under the ball, making it look like he's dancing.

c) AI isn't all that great

d) When picking teams for an exhibition match (single game), no stats/strengths/weaknesses are shown for any of the teams. When playing the game itself, or after the game, no player or game stats are available in exhibition mode.

e) Game isn't very playable online, due to lag. Also, you cannot chat in-game.

But all in all, still an excellent game, and definitely worth upgrading to.

I don't know people, you tell me.........

(...) seems like sega just need some help from people like sony, or the makers of xbox. I mean can they ever make a baseball game to everybody's likings?? I mean it was bad enough that in wsb2k1 they forced their customers to play with automatic fielding. But in this one 2k2 they force the customers to learn how to play defense for the first time without it. Don't get me wrong. Playing without it is o.k. But that should be more for people that already has been playing the game for a while. And they're allready use to it. I mean it took me a while to get use and learn how to play wsb2k1. What now it's going to take me another while to figure out wsb2k2? (...) I guess the people of sega never heard of the saying "GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT" My honest opinion on this is that they should always make baseball games with the option whether or not people want to use automatic fielding or not. It's the customers business on how they want to play the game. Not up to the makers to force people how to play the game. I see why now that some retailers want to eliminate sega products from their sales. "GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT"...........

I, am really excited for this game to come out, I really didnt like how 2k1 had the players stop on a grounder to second.is wsb2k2 going to have a homerun derby Ichiro and minor leagues to pull people up? Sammy Sosa does a side-step when he hits a homer and the batting styles are different. Hopefully its alot better than world series baseball 2k1. I cant wait tell I buy that game.I'll Be the mariners and win the world series for the first time in mariner history.

I know I know World Series Baseball 2k1 [was bad] but that was lasted years version and that should be behind us. Plus last years version was made by an unexperienced crew of SEGA, WSB2k2 will be made by the same people that brought you NBA2k1 and arguably the best sports game ever NFL2k1. They aslo will bring you NBA2k2 and NFL2k2. That company is Visual Concepts! Thats why I have no fear that WSB2k2 wont strike out!

WSB2K2 should be better

I had a few problems with WSB2K1.The fielding was horrible. You could almost laugh watching the outfielder go back and around to get to a fly ball. Most of the time he missed it too!Though I like auto fielding I will like being able to make sure that I make the catch.I will also enjoy the Franchise option. It was a lot of fun in NFL2K1 and in NBA2K1 so I'm sure it won't be a dissapointment. Finally, I'm very happy about the Home Run Derby option.I was kind of suprised last year when I read a preview and it said there wouldn't be available. With all of these things, and the graphics,WSB2K2 should be a huge hit and a lot of fun.

Should be Good

WSB2K1 WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES. i WAS DISSAPOINTED WITH SOME THINGS: THE FIELDING WAS HORRIBLE. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY SEGA WOULD THINK AUTO FIELDING WOULD BE GOOD. WHEN A FRIEND AND I WERE PLYING IT WAS 0-0 IN THE 9TH HE HAD A NO-HITTER GOING AND I HAD A GUY ON 3RD(he was walked). I HIT A GROUNDER RIGHT AT THE SHORTSTOP AND HE TURNED AROUND AND THE BALL WENT RIGHT THROUGH HIM. I WON ON THAT HIT! THATS NOT MY IDEA OF A GOOD GAME. THE STATS WEREN'T TOO GOOD. THE STADIUMS WERE VERY NICE EXCEPT WHEN I HIT HOMERS IT WOOULD GO OVER AND IT WOULD GO RIGHT THRU AN OBJECT OR THE GROUND. WHEN I HIT ONE AT PAC BELL IN SF. IT JUST HIT THE WATER LIKE IT WAS GROUND AND JUST STOPPED. I HIT A GRAND SLAM THAT HIT THE FOUL POLE AND IN WAS CALLED A FOUL BALL. THEN THE OTHER TEAM HIT ONE AT A DIFFERENT STADIUM OFF THE POLE AND IT WAS FAIR. PLUS, YOU NEED A FRANCHISE MODE AND A CREATE-TEAM OPTION. WHEN YOU THROW FROM THE OUTFIELD ITS A LOLLIPOP THROW EVEN IF YOU THROW WITH GUERRERO WHO HAS THE BEST ARM IN THE LEAGUE. I LOVED THE GRAPHICS THOUGH. THE ONLY THING I LIKED ABOUT THE AUTO FIELDING WAS THAT THEY MADE SOME AWSEOME PLAYS. AND THE THROWS WERE QUICK AND COOL. IS THERE EVER AN ERROR? I JUST WISH I COULD BUNT FOR A HIT. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A MODE WHERE IN A FRANCHISE YOU GET MONEY OR POINTS FOR CERTAIN ACHIEVEMENTS LIKE WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP OR HAVING THE MVP ON YOUR TEAM OR 100 WINS. THEN YOU CAN BUILD ON TO YOUR STADIUM BY BUYING PARTS OR MAKING A STADIUM WITH ENOUGH POINTS AND PICK WHERE IT IS LIKE BY WATER OR IN THE DESERT. THEN PICK DISTANCE OF WALLS AND HEIGHT OF THEM. THAT WOULD BE A DREAM THOUGH. I WISH THERE WERE MORE AWARDS, GOLD GLOVES, ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, CY YOUNG,MVP,ALLSTAR MVP, ETC. AND ONE MORE THING, I THINK YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE 2 PLAYERS ON THE SAME TEAM INSTEAD OF 1 ON 1 OR 1 VS CPU. THAT WOULD MAKE IT GREAT. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.

Can't be Worse Than WSB2K1...

No baseball game can be as bad as WSB2K1, so I have really high hopes for this new game. Last year I was counting down the days until the game came out, and when I got the game the graphics wwere excellent but the play was pathetic. I am real excited that SEGA promises fielder control and home run derby because they are the two most exciting modes of play in any baseball video game. Also things like Spring Training, Minor League calll ups, and Franchise modes should make this truly the greatest baseball video game ever made.

The Best Baseball Game Ever!

All i have to say is that im very happy at what Sega did to such a dissapointment with Wsb2k1 but that is over Sega has approved yet again with Wsb2k2 with solid gameplay, new stadiums, new modes and online play this is trully better than any of the PS2 baseball games! This game is well worth your 40$ it is a must buy for all those diehard dreamcast fans and the dreamcast graphics will always be better than PS2!
