Well I thought I was getting sooooooo much more after all the hype, but honestly this was just plain boring. Pretty to look at, but shoddy controls and not enough fun stuff to do. mostly running around talking to npcs[non player characters]and opening doors looking for npcs. YAWN!!!!!!!!Yes it looks pretty but unless you like long drawn out storys and watching a game more then playing skip it .....

Boring......

This game was sooooo cool when I first got it. I played it for days, but then I got stuck and didn't want to cheat and I kept falling asleep and forgot where I was every time I played.

So, I just let my friends borrow it, cause I don't want to start over.

Bottom line on this game is it is boring. Visually it's pleasing (very accurately done Japanese town), but game play and pace gets old quick. I am 29 and have played 100's of games, I love RPG's as well, but this game requires no thought, no challenge, no puzzles, little excitement???!!! Only puzzling thing is trying to figure out which drawer to open in Ryo's house, and trying to get him to pick up objects correctly so you can find things, very frustrating and a waste of time. I played the game up to the 2nd disk, got into a few easilly won fights, and spent probably 20 plus hours running from one person to the next, listening to bad, boring dialog, waiting for something interesting to happen. Games should be exciting, and not feel like a job. Worse yet this game made me want to give up on gaming all together and step out into the real world , where I can have decent conversations with real people (Bad sign developers!!!). I felt like I was doing homework or something just to play this game. I hope developers will get a clue in the future, make the game exciting, with puzzles, and plenty of action. Plot should develop rapidly, not take days of looking for some lame object that would be easily found if the interface only worked right. Needless to say I am going to sell this game and find something better to play.

THIS GAME HAS SO-SO GRAPHICS. SO WHO CARES IF THE GRAPHICS COST MORE THEN 1 MILLON DOLLERS. THEIR POP-UP GRAPHICS . FOR THE GAMEPLAY IT'S AWSOME. THE DUDE WANT'S REVENGE ON SOME OTHER DUDE FOR KILLING HIS FATHER(WHO WOULDN'T)...

Let me start by saying that Yu Susuki is GOD, he has created a new style of gaming, no game can compare to Shenmue. Furthermore
the game has awsome graphics, sound, and gameplay, If you don't already have this game "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR" get it, and for those who have dreamcast like me, you can buy Shenmue 2 imported and then all you need is the dreamcast converter to play it.

The graphics are so cool, but I hardly have gotten to fight!

It ends in the middle of the game and the sequel is not (as far as I can see) available at this time.

Buy this game. First thing the game is slow and you have to do every thing in exactly the right order or you can't move on. I spent two hours tring to find this one guy and when I do its someone I had already talked to. The only plus to this game is the fighting engine but theres not enough action in the game to use this as a selling point alone. My recommendation is to get another game.

Well, I thought this was my fave for a while.

This is a cool game. I like Japanese related items. Going through the towns, helped me to understand what it may be like over there.

Besides that, it sort of boring.

This game beats mostly all games depending on your style the graphics rule you definatly should buy it.
