Simply Amazing

Naughty Dog delivers a high caliber game taking advantage of the power of the PS3 console. This game is different than any other game that I have played before, it's like a movie and you are the starring. The fun and action are endless. This game has an impressive landscape of the colonial ruins and rainforest in Panama. The control over the characters is simply amazing and full of realism. The graphics and sound are great if you have a 1080p HD TV and the console connected to you Home theater via a HDMI cable.
I have finally found a PS3 game that makes this console worth all the money I have spent. With this game you can't go wrong you will enjoy it from the very first moment until the end. I have never been addicted to a game the way I am to this one; I just can't wait to finish working to get home and play.

One of the best looking games ever made

Call me crazy, but this has got to be one of the best looking games ever. I'm just going off of the demo (my copy hasn't shown up yet) but this makes Halo 3 look like a gamecube title. I own all three next gen consoles and this is the best looking game I may have ever seen since console gaming began, and I've been at it since Pong. Jaw dropping is not an exaggeration.
The movement and game mechanics are also second to none. Comparing again to Halo 3, the motion is always fluid and natural.
This is all from the demo, and I may revise after I get the full game, but first impressions are 5 stars.

Game was played on a 100" 1080p projected image.

A masterpiece of a game!

This has to be one of the best action/adventure games that I have every played! Naughty Dog has really raised the bar for other companies with Uncharted. There are stunning visuals, superb gameplay, action and suspense around every corner, and on top of all that there is spectacular musical soundtrack. All and all Naughty Dog has a HUGE hit on its hands. On top of that, this is a PS3 exclusive. This game is what the Playstation 3 is all about. Pick it up today, you won't be disappointed.

A blast to play, but...

This game is a lot of fun to play, however I was disappointed with a few things. A lot of people are raving about the graphics but there were a couple things I found annoying. First, why do all of the characters have glossy skin? It didn't look real to me. Second, why are there this white lines around the edges of so many things throught the game? Didn't anyone else notice this? It's almost as if two surface weren't coming together fully and light was leaking through. I found this rather annoying at times. These being said there are still some amazing graphics. The jungle and water are well renderedand the movements are fluid and realistic.

One other disappointing thing was the length of the game. It is a very short game. I could easily be played through in one sitting or a weekend. There is nothing I hate more then paying $50 or $60 for a game and being done with it in less then a week.

That being said the game is a lot of fun to play. It feels like your playing an Indiana Jones movie. It could have used a little more adventure and puzzles and less fighting. But the fighting is well designed, with an excellent cover system. The puzzles were fun but fairly simple; hopefully future sequels will have more complex puzzles. The voice acting is excellent, and the story is smart and believable. Overall a great game with some flaws that can be overlooked due to its fun gameplay.

A must have PS3 title

Although the first half of Drakes Fortune is only moderately fun and entertaining, the second half is absolutely fantastic.

If you own a PS3, this game is one of those "must have" titles.

Finally the First Must-Buy Exclusive for PS3

I will tell you the conclusion up front. This is the most exciting cinematic game experience I've had since 'Metal Gear Solid 3', and the best game since 'Oblivion'.

Drenched with colorful, lush, and bright graphic and environment with some intensely dark atmosphere, this is the liveliest and most awe-inspiringly beautiful game to date. Animation is fluid, natural, and life-like, captured by now-common Hollywood filmmaking motion-capture technology to create CGI. In fact, everything in this game is superbly on par with the best of Hollywood summer blockbuster. This game is better than anything I've seen during this year's (2007) dreadful summer movie line-ups. Griping pulpy action-adventure storyline in remeniscent of 'Indiana Jones' and 'National Treasure' series, exciting orchestra and atmospheric scores using lots of drums and flutes, intense action of 'Resident Evil 4' and 'Gears of War', platform and puzzle gameplay mechanics of 'Tomb Raider' series, game structure of 'Far Cry' and seamlessly integrated cutscenes peppered with many filmmaking techniques and signature camera movements are nothing short of brilliant. It borrows the best elements from various games, thoroughly digests, and in turn creates something so familiar yet different. As in 'Assassin's Creed', hand-to-hand combat and platforming mechanics are timing-based. Despite the wave after wave of baddies with assortments of guns and more guns, this is not a mindless 3rd-person shooter. The importance of using cover is imperative. Without cover and acrobatic moves, you are likely to get killed within few seconds. Yet the satisfaction of pumping bullets into baddies is immensely gratifying. Jumping from one ledge to anothor is exciting and platforming is all about how to get to the next area. Puzzle-solving is less complex but adequate enough for the game's main attraction is story and action. There are also a few stages where you are shooting for your life on moving vehicles.

Acting is superb and real actors in motion-sensor suit were casted for acting and voice. One of few game that can really claim that the acting is top-notch along with superb voice-acting.

Whereas 'Assassin's Creed' falters, however, 'Uncharted: Drake's Fortune' excels. Playing video game is actually fun again. This is where linearity, if well-structured, gives you more intense sense of urgency and excitement, something open-ended, free-forming games often lack. Furthermore, without the loading time, it actually feels as if it were, free-roaming game. Cutscenes are used by in-game graphics and they are blended seamlessly together. This is the closest thing to 'Interactive Movie'. Throughout the game, the feeling of you being involved and immersed into the very game you play as if you were the main protagonist is constantly and continuously maintained. This is what playing video game is all about just like other all time greats such as 'The Elder Scrolls', 'The Legend of Zelda', 'Metroid', 'Metal Gear Solid', and 'Final Fantasy' series.

The game is on the short side, and you will finish the game from 8 to 12 hours; pretty common length among typical action-adventure games. But there are some replay value due to three difficulty levels, and many unlockable bonus. One other thing this game reminds me of Hollywood action-adventure movie is that the game comes with many extras like movies on DVD. Some of the unlockable bonus in the game includes all the in-game cutscenes, making-of-documentaries and featurettes. So many of generic so-called collector's editions out there in the market charge you $ 10 or more just for couple of lame extra. This game harbors included many extras on the Blue-Ray Disc without making you pay for extra money, and the quality of the extras are indeed excellent. You just have to work for them. Beside aforementioned extras, there are tons of hidden treasure, in-game achievement feats, and more. I can see myself playing this game over and over again just like some of the classic 2D action games for better records, instant access to each level, unlockable custumes, weapons, and unlimited ammo, etc. This game may be short in its length but the pacing is relentless in break-neck pace, and there is not a single moment of unnecessary sidetracking to buff up the length of game.

As the first game of long-overdued console-exclusive quality games like the past Playstation generations, this game shows what PS3 machine is truly capable of. MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots, God of War 3, Resident Evil 5, and Final Fantasy XIII on the horizon, it is exciting time to own PS3.
((( Not a flaming console-war instigating statement for I own Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PS3, Gamecube, Wii, GB Advance, Nintendo DS, X-Box, X-360, and custom-made PC. I could care less which console wins out. )))

****************************************

Speaking of which, whole HD vs. BD is so ridiculous and downright abhorent. The console war is actually an extension of Microsoft vs. Sony in the battlefield called High Definition format war. Back in 1997 when DVD was first released, I had about 400 VHS and 250 laserdiscs but I did not hesitate for a second to jump on to the DVD wagon immediately for I am an early adaptor when it comes to electronics.

The picture quality was vastly superior and the compactness of DVD was unbearably delightful. (Try to move 250 obtuse, heavy chunks of those optical junks called LaserDisc into the moving truck, you will recite every known profanity to the mankind in the world.)

Although I love to adopt to the newer and definitely superior technology called 'high definition', I am reluctant to invest any money to uncertainty while 'format war' is still going strong.

1400 DVDs and counting, I am still perfectly happy to stick with my current collection (along with those magnetic tapes and the optical junks...) until all dusts settle down and one comes out alive.

Better yet, I sincerely hope yet another technology like 'Ultimate, definitive, super-duper ultrahigh definition' format that harbors 1000 terabytes in a single-sided, single-layered 1-inch optical disc comes out and knock the hell out of both Microsoft and Sony to the next Milky Ways. That would turn the table around, and might teach them some valuable lesson. That would be my ultimate Christmas gift in my evil, evil wicked wish.

To Microsoft:

Don't you have enough money already from Windows and Office products for the last 25 years?
Aren't you learning anything from unnecessarily competition with i-Pod from Apple?
It seems like you like to pick a fight with just about everyone in the neighborhood in your 25 year-life over something not rightfully yours to begin with. DOS??? Windows??? Internet Browser??? Invent something for a change. Make quality product, and everyone will love you.

To Sony:

Didn't you try to pull this off 25 years ago with 'Beta' format and miserably fail?
Memory Stick??? UMD??? All your proprietary formats somehow always find a way to disappear into oblivion (Don't I just love this word?) How about concentrating on providing quality electronics like Walkman, Playstation, and Vaio? You've always won with quality product in the long, proud, distinguished past; Stick with what you do best.

Really Fun Game...Should Be Rated "M" for Mature for Language

GAMEPLAY: The game is really good, it moves at a nice pace, the storyline is interesting. The lush scenery is breathtaking at time -- really, it's art. The attention to detail is outstanding. The only knock on game play is the that many waves of bad guys to deal with gets old.

THE ESRB RATING SHOULD BE M-Mature:
FOR PARENTS WHO CARE ABOUT SUCH THINGS, the T-rating usually works for our family. According the the ESRB description, "Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language."

This game was contained sexual innuendo and was riddled with profanity. Not just the little ones...they used practically ALL of 'em

The only profanity they didn't use...walks like a DUCK and sounds like a DUCK. But my husband and I haven't finished playing so it may be in there at some point.

ERSB website says of mature ratings: "Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.

The game was excellent....but ERSB dropped the ball.

Naughty Dog delivers an epic adventure!

Naughty Dog is one of PlayStations most prized exclusive developers. They have a habit of pushing the respective console whether it was PS1, PS2, and now PS3 with brilliance. Every chapter of this game is SO FUN! It will have you thinking; "should I move forward or just stay here and take a vacation?". The animations, like the water, fire, smoke, environment are insanely brilliant. Nathan and his exotic locales come to life in shocking detail. This game takes full advantage of Blu-ray and CELL technology of the PS3. This one is only possible on PS3! Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is simply breathtaking.

Nathan Drake is an instant classic character and I can't wait for his second adventure. There are no dull moments in this game. This game is so ahead of games like Gears of War because it is CLEVER. It has puzzles, secrets to uncover, when you get a new weapon it feels like a power up. Words can't describe the enjoyment and wonder you will see. I know Indiana Jones fans or Bonnie and Clyde lovers will have a blast. A truly cinematic presentation! A must have for any PS3 owner/adventure lover. I made sure not to spoil a second of this game, and you will thank me later. If you are getting a PS3 this summer or fall, GET THIS GAME!

I have a standard of excellence for all my videogames. This game deserves top honors: 10/10 !!!

May be the best game I've ever played

Uncharted has the feel of a perfect summer blockbuster, with action, adventure, cool characters and the classic plot of fighting pirates for treasure. The awesome thing here is the combat system never gets old, the exploration theme is handled exceptionally well, and the graphics and music are nothing short of amazing. This is the kind of game to be played more than once, just to experience the fun all over again.
