Game of the year, hands down!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 7 / 14
Date: November 22, 2007
Author: Amazon User

This game is the best game out on any console, it defeats the XBOX's highly rated games with one brutal kill. Gears of war, Halo 3, and Bioshock all get clobbered by this game. If you're one of the people who only bought the "po' man's PS3" (XBOX 360), this game is one awesome reason to go ahead and upgrade to the real deal.

This game is the game of the year by far, the details in the graphics and gameplay are immense, I don't want to spoil it for those looking for it for Christmas, so let me just say: Get this game, you will not be disappointed!

Great but short

This game is GREAT, great scenarios, great story, next generation graphics not seen anywhere else, it involves you like no other game. The negative point comes when you can easly complete the whole game in 3 days (if you consider a 2hour playing a day).

Good Game

I am not really a fan for this type of game, I usually just buy sports games.
I bought this games because of the reviews and I'm not disappointed.

Indiana Jones meets Tomb Raider

There's a lot in common with Indiana Jones stories and the platforming beauty of Tomb Raider. I've particularly enjoyed the ruin exploration and general feeling of "on your own" that this game provides for. If you've got an adventuresome gaming spirit this game won't disappoint.

A must-have for the PS3 (sadly enough there just aren't many).

Too nausea-inducing to keep going

This game definitely has its merits. And since there're tons of good reviews here, i'll skimp on those details. Good graphics, beautiful set design, and simple gameplay.

What i want to add to all this are my gripes with this game. My biggest one is the camera angles. the game automatically switches angles when you get to certain parts of the game to reveal hints about what to do. this happens frequently and causes a lot of eye strain for me. I could only play this game for 1/2 hr at a time before getting queasy.

second: way too many enemies and not enough ammo. the bad guys come in waves after waves before you get a break and you tend to be very low in ammo all the time. i don't like to have to think about conserving and collecting my munitions when i'm trying to shoot up the bad guys. this is only the normal difficulty too, so i can't imagine playing on difficult. the designers placed some explosive barrels here and there to help you kill the bad guys more easily, but i usually get so caught up in finding cover that i don't see the barrels until i already killed most of them with my precious ammo.

lastly, the characters are not very relatable. the main character is a gungho, carefree guy who doesn't seem to emote what a normal person would when caught in certain situations. getting stuck in a cave with only a flashlight and pistol and structures are collapsing on you? no problem. "let's hope there's a back door".

i never got to finish the game because my nausea overwhelmed my desire to see what happens at the end.

The Bar Has Been Raised

Drake's Fortune is not only the best title yet released for the PS3, it is also one of the finest games ever created, for any platform. Production, production, production... quite simply the production values for Drake's Fortune are through the roof. From start to finish, developer Naughty Dog took zero shortcuts, and delivered exactly what gamers deserve to receive. The graphics, voice acting, game-play, interface, pacing, and reward system are all top notch, and they come together to form a sum that is a masterpiece of modern video gaming. (Naughty Dog has come a long way since the original Crash Bandicoot on PS1!)

Perhaps the most impressive accomplishment of Drake's Fortune is the pacing. Over the course of the adventure, I was never once bored, and I attribute that to the brilliant manner in which the story is delivered- not only through magnificent cut-scenes (featuring some of the finest face modeling, motion capture, and voice acting ever witnessed), but also because the game-play never gets stale. One level you're fighting for your life on a ship that is besieged by pirates, the next you're exploring a lush jungle, then onto a high-speed jeep chase with gunfire galore, followed by wave-runners, booby traps, duck and cover battles, submarines... you get the idea. You won't become bored, because Drake's Fortune won't give you a chance to. Even the delivery of the puzzles is brilliant- they are just challenging enough to provide a quick change in game-play, but they never slow down the pacing of the story.

And without revealing any spoilers, I will add that at one point in the game, I experienced the most authentic "survival horror" type game-play I have ever endured- even more so than in Resident Evil 4 or Condemned: Criminal Origins. I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat (gripping the controller far too tightly), and the muscles in my arms and shoulders were seizing up. Only when I gasped for air, did I realize that I had been holding my breath in fearful anticipation (wait until you see these lighting effects and character animations in action). Now that's convincing game-play!

At eight to ten hours, Drake's Fortune is of perfect length to maintain the excellent pacing. Every minute spent in this world is enjoyable, and never are the production values reduced. It is somewhat akin to an Indiana Jones movie, but far more rewarding. Instead of passively watching a character go through the motions, you become the character, and actively direct the adventure. Becoming Drake for a few hours, and joining the lovable Sully and Ellie (your main companions), is so much fun, this is one experience that most gamers will want to revisit, multiple times, even after they have completed it.

At sixty dollars a pop, games are not particularly cheap, but I can assure you that Drake's Fortune is worth every penny, and plenty more. Naughty Dog (along with a handful of other studios- Kojima Productions, Insomniac, for example), has taken the challenge and the responsibility to deliver product of the highest quality into the hands of gamers. Fans of the industry are those who also support the industry, and when they pay out their hard-earned money, they deserve to receive a game that is as enjoyable and highly polished as Drake's Fortune.

Game developers, be advised: The bar has been raised.

One word... Perfect. Absolutly Perfect.

This game has it all. Amazing graphics, perfect game-play and a story that keeps your interest.

Some reviewers have said that the graphics are a little fuzzy or has white artifacts around everything in the image. This is true. I darkened the game from the options menu and this helped a little. It is not enough to distract you from the game.

Graphics... they are perfect and by far the best and most smooth graphics I have ever seen. The detail is almost too much to take in at times. And with the PS3's amazing talent to have real, life-like movement, the graphics are top notch.

Game-Play... after getting use to the controls, the game play is simple and fun. With the ability to throw your back against a wall or object to protect yourself from gunfire and shoot behind you while running, the game-play is very well balanced with the rest of the game and could not be any better.

Sound... the sound quality and the soundtrack are just right. With the DTS option and full surround sound put you right in the action.

Over-all, this is by far the most fun and prefect game I have ever played. The story is very good, but not too good as to distract you from the game-play. The story keeps you interested throughout and the game does not get repetitive at all. The ending is good and the length of the game is just right. It is just a really really fun game. A must play.

BUY THIS GAME!!

Hands down, one of, if not, the best games I've played since I got my PS3. They totally flip the script toward the end, and it leaves you speechless, but you can't slow down if you want to survive. For the seasoned gamers, I suggest you start on Hard difficulty. All the whiners can go suck their thumbs and play their 360s. This game is great. I'm freakin' out thinking about what the sequel will be like.

One of The Best Games for The PS3 So Far

Uncharted is one of those games that you will play and will enjoy every minute of it. Uncharted does things that very few games do and thats to have a very well done story. This game has one of the best presentations in a game I have ever seen. This game is almost like an action movie the whole entire time, this game can actually beat a lot of hollywood movies coming out these days.

The game itself is very well done, pretty much everything about this game is incredible. The graphics are the best I've ever seen, the water effects especially are so realisetic that it seems unreal. The gameplay is very well done, it is somewhat similar to Gears of Wars duck n cover gunplay but this is actually a little less smoother than Gears in my opinion. The platforming in this game is three timeas as better as Tomb raider, it is more challenging, better paced and more fun. The voice acting is very very well done, I never heard of any of these people but they seem professional, It is very natural and the humor is funny as well.

Now that there is a lot of good there are some things that I didn't like, one is that the game is pretty short, you could literally beat the game in less than 7 hours but I doubt it because you reall want to watch the cutscenes because it is interesting and intuitive. I also which there was some type of multiplayer, I could easily imagine multiplayer for this game, the developers could have thought of this the first second they knew it would become a shooter. The last thing is that there isn't much replay value to this game after you beat it, there are treasues to collect but you don't unlock anything from getting them so whats the point.OTHER THAN THAT THIS GAME IS A MUST BUY FOR ALL PS3 OWNERS TRUST ME YOU WON'T GET DISSAPOINTED.

Graphics - 10/10
Gameplay - 9/10
Sound - 10/10
Story - 10/10
Longevity - 7/10

Overall - 9/10 MUST BUY!!!!!!!

Simply a great adventure with awesome graphics and gameplay
