Worth the Effort

I am a big fan of the first Ratchet and Clank and this one continues the fun. The reason I like these games is you get out of it what you put into it. I am not an advanced gamer but like this game because I can work my way to the end. You set the difficulty by how you progress through each world. If you are diligent and collect what you need and buy the right weapons strategizing as you go you keep advancing. The biggest drawback is that I have gone through the game the second time (challenge mode) and still have several weapons not fully upgraded. I was able to collect all the nanotech and get all the skill points but I did get stuck on the three Ace Bunyan challenges. The final battle is slightly anticlimatic (easy with the RYNO and Shield Charger) but the journey was worth the effort.

Not in the soul of Ratchet and Clank, but still a wonderful experience

I loved Ratchet and Clank, the first game, with its lush and de-
structive worlds to the exotic and amazing sound score to the t-
op notch voice actors. Ratchet and Clank was one of most amazing
games of 2002 but a year later, here come the awaited sequel to
butt-kicking series. Now not exactly the best game in the five-
games-out series, (Ratchet and Clank, Ratchet and Clank 2: Going
Commando, Ratchet and Clank 3: Up your Arsenal, Ratchet: Deadlo-
cked, Ratchet and Clank: Going Mobile), it provides the most we-
apons the game in the now-quintet of the series. In other words,
its the game with the most weapons, (36 things your arsenal). I
like the other games, I loved Ratchet: Deadlocked. From the safe
and restful DreadZone station, (where Big Al of Big Al's Robosh-
ack and Clank stay and "coordinate"), to the kick-butt planets
in the Shadow Sector.
Overall the game has more pros than cons

Pros:

-Ratchet's got better guns
-The cartoony graphics are even more lush
-Angela Cross is a great girlfriend to Ratchet
-The sounds are still good
-Great gameplay
-Easy controls
-A darker Plot
-Still has it's witty side
-Great ship battles and upgrades and fun ho

Cons:

-Outrageous difficulty
-Not as much Ha-Ha's as in Ratchet and Clank
-Captain Qwark doesn't appear till the very last of the game!
-Enemies and Bosses are now so darn stubborn and hard

Now, listen Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando is an awesome g-
ame but listen, if it wasn't as difficult and so STUBBORN I wou-
ld gave it a 5. And it's rating I give is 4.7 out of 5.0 which
means it's awesome not a rental, a hurry-up-and-buy game, it's a
20 dollar game and you don't have nuthin' to lose, except your
temper but go ahead buy the quintet ahead, three out of five of
the games are 20 dollars, here's the list:

Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando
Ratchet and Clank 3: Up your Arsenal
Ratchet: Deadlocked
Ratchet and Clank: Going Mobile, (only for cell phones),

In conclusion: 8/10
Look out because, next year, two Ratchet and Clank games are co-
ming out

I hope my review was helpful!

Picks up right where R&C left off...

There isn't much to say really. This is a very well designed platformer with a few minigames inbetween. This new installment is a clone of the original Ratchet and Clank. The foes have changed, the cast has changed a bit, but the plot and game play is almost nearly identical to its predecessor. If you loved the original, then you'll love this one too.

MILD SPOILER AHEAD (you'll find out about it in the first 10 minutes of game play anyway):

Pros:
More weapons, brilliant design (and you NEED them this time)
Cameos from other video games
Easter egg like game play
Terrific logic puzzles
Quark is back

Cons:
They changed Quark's voice (you bastards!)
Pretty much the same plot as the original.

An excellent sequel to one of the best platform games

Going Commando is the sequel to Ratchet and Clank, which literally redefined the standard for Platform games. You play as Ratchet, a cat-like hero just back from saving the galaxy. But the hard work isn't over for him, because now there is another galaxy in need of his expert skills. Going Commando is a form of a third-person shooter, but Insomniac Games has crafted a game that older gamers will be able to enjoy, while still making it kid friendly (there isn't any blood or realistic depictions of death like so many games today).

Going Commando is in many ways the same as Ratchet and Clank, which was already close to perfect, so that was a good decision. There were some major differences though, such as adding some RPG elements (if you use a weapon a lot, it can get upgraded, and the same goes for Ratchet himself). Aside from the game play, the worlds are bigger, and there are tons of new gadgets and weapons (and even more if you count that most are upgradable).

This game raises the bar even higher for platform games, and any fan of the original Ratchet and Clank will fell like they had never put down the controller.

and I really hate platformers!

I really, really, really hate platformer games. Played Jak 2 until I could go on no longer, played Kingdom Hearts until the lousy camera would not allow me to see what I was supposed to be jumping towards, and a few others.

Those were mere rentals, just to make me see if I wanted to buy them. The only reason I tried the two I listed was because of Ratchet and Clank (going commando). Another platformer game, I knew going in, and I was surprised.

Very surprised. Well, here is my summation:
Pros: Fun, funny, with a good plot, replayable as the weapons do get better with use (on my third time through so far), and a good save game system.
Cons: Lack of the ability to want to sleep, eat, actually leave your chair...

No gammer, but I like entertainment...

I thought the first "Ratchet and Clank" game was great! I'm not an intense "gamer" and I only like games that are challenging and fun... not frustrating! I don't like "dying" six to ten times before beating a boss and I don't like spending all my money (bolts) on weapons (and ammo) to beat these bosses... it's just not fun... and to get the "big" weapons you need lots of bolts which means that even though it seems your getting a lot you need these to get through the game; leaving the big "potentially fun" weapons until after you've beat the game and played it over several times. This game is much more difficult than the first and at times I found myself wondering what to do or where to go until I figure something very easy out over a couple of hours... in another words.. .there is no direction. The story is very weak and the graphics aren't as great as the first. In fact, most of the worlds seem like they were taken from the first game. Disappointing would be a great way to describe this game but better would be "frustrating" which equals challenging minus the fun! This is one for the Gameshark.

If there is goin to be a part 3 then I am goin to buy it. BY the the cover looks cool. I like the weapons in part one. I really like the little robots that blow up on people. I always wanted the rhino. I heard that you can upgrade your weapons. I want to upgrade the rhino. This game is going to kick a** baby.

The first time I played this I craped my pants, it was so sweet, there are like 24 weapons and most of them up-grade to even sweeter weapons. I beat it already.. and now its even funner! You start with all your weapons and health so you can blow the crap outa things that you couldnt before! The maxi games are wicked, the space battles are the funnest, so are the hoverbike races. This is one the greatest games EVER! Ive told you enough, so go get it! NOW... NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!!!!!!

the weapons are better and you can upgrade them with platinum bolts. the weapons are more expensive but there are races and battles you can enter for bolts. it's a cool game and you should get it.
