My favorite fact about this game is the way the creators have actually made it so more than just the applicable NPCs acknowledge you and your actions. It seems more like a world of its own that way. It's a big step up from the first NWN, both in graphics, gameplay, and basically overall set up. The story line isn't half bad; better than the original NWN.
The only squabble I have with this game is the ending, and the fact that it seems to get a bit repetative with certain things, backtracking and such. Though, I suppose its not really that bad... Regardless, its a classic RPG, and I recommend it.
Has potential

Obsidian wrote this game primarily for it's built in single player campaign, however the toolset has possibilities. With patience and practice coupled with continued support from both Obsidian and the player community the toolset could be become truly fantastic. Persistant worlds are starting to appear with tons more on the way. Buy the game, keep up with the patches and you'll love it.
There are some stability problems with the game but nothing that driver updates cannot fix. You do however need a strong machine. Pay attention to the recommended requirements.
A step in the right direction.

NWN 2, while a very solid stand alone game in itself, deffinitely seems to have been designed with fans of the original NWN in mind. The gameplay and quality is very similar but with an impressive improvement on the visuals, a great deal of updated and new features, and an overhaul for the new D&D 3.5 ruelset. I would certainly recommend the game to fans of the original or any roleplaying fan for that matter. It will only get better as player created content starts to get released for further single and/or multiplayer fun.
Great, but some technical difficulties

This is a great game, like all NWN, BG, etc. games are. Graphics can be great, however, I and many others experienced frame rate issues that made the game tough to play at times. It even crashed, despite me upgrading my pC way above requirements. I still find it difficult to play an evil character and not make the game harder.
Great Sequel

NWN2 is great in terms of what it is. They took the first one and made the graphics better and upgraded the User Interface. If you want to continue your Neverwinter Nights adventuring in an upgraded graphics and game environment, this is for you. If you are looking for a completely different game in the Neverwinter Nights setting, this is not for you. It is still turn based RPG based on D&D rules with the same type of combat. Which is good or bad depending on what you're lookin for ;-)
Fun but not perfect.

I wanted this game to be perfect. I really did. Rarely does an RPG keep interested enough to finish, and this one has, which is saying alot. Let's get one thing straight, the bugs are gone ok. You can disregard low scores given by people who hated the early bugs. The game is much better then when it was first released, so in those terms you can buy this game in confidence. So how is it right? Great but not perfect. The story is very well done and is not cliched like so many other RPG stories. The Gameplay is top notch. The battle system is great for strategy lovers. The customization of your main character is very addictive. You may find yourself wanting to start the game over again after completing or even before, so you can try out a well thought out plan for the development of your character. Character customization is where the good replay value fits in.
So what are the problems? The game looks decent but is quite lacking and it takes a good comp to run the graphics on the highest settings, which is confusing since the graphics aren't amazing. The game forces you to play with characters you have not developed and therefore they will have mediocre or no equipment. You also don't have full freedom when developing your other characters. You have to stick with the same class they begin with except for one(but his class change is part of the story). I hate not being able to stick with the characters I love. Fortunately the game makes it to where everyone's exp gained is the same. If you haven't played with a charcter for a while, when they pop in the party, whalah they have the same amount exp as everyone else. If the game wasn't good I would have quit because of being forced to play with certain characters. That is really annoying bioware! Hopefully they will remove this in any furture D&D games. Ok i think I am done. Is it worth it? Yes. If you liked the first NWN you should like this one. Just do not expect it to blow you away.
Not a bad game at all, very smooth with Vista

First I would like to give the bad stuff. There are numerous cut scenes and the camera control was a little hard to get used to, but it is tolerable, the saving grace of the cut scenes is that you can pause them ie. if you need to be away from the computer for a min. I personally have to do the "hit and run" gaming, I am too busy to devote an hour or two to un-interupted play.
I am running a Dell Inspiron 520 with the quad 2 processor and 3 gig of ram. I also have the Nvidia 256Mb video card. My system is decent, but it is a long way from top of the line. I had no problem installing the game (and I am running Vista) I loaded all the patches as soon as I installed the game, and it runs perfectly. (the patches took nearly 45 min. to load)
Every gamer is different, I like a plot that is at least somewhat linear. The plot line on this so far is linear enough that I don't get lost in the game, but I have some choices and can do certain things in a different order, or chose not to do something at all. The story line is okay, it could be better, but to me the mechanics and some of the situations or battles are more important. I like the extra classes and prestiege classes that they have added, and the new character races are good too. The only thing that I would really want to change about this game is I would like to be able to build my NPCs the way that I build my main Character. I would recomend this game to anyone that has a decent machine, but I would also recomend running the patch even though it takes forever to down load. (V1.12 was the latest that was out when I updated)
I have read some reviews that claim that it won't run well with Vista, but I have not had that problem, there may be more patches out now that have fixed that issue.
The RPG that changed my mind

I've been playing pen-and-paper RPG's since 1979, and since I moved to a new area I haven't been able to do that. I have tried computer RPG's many times, and always been disappointed because they lacked the flexibility and immersive feel of face-to-face gaming. The first Neverwinter Nights game impressed me by finally reproducing the game mechanics and feel of pen-and-paper RPG's, with a rich storyline. Neverwinter Nights 2 has retained all the good points of the first game with much better graphics and more options. I frequently found myself fully immersed in the game.
Computer RPG's still have a way to go before they match pen-and-paper; because there is no Game Master, there is no way to accomodate creative solutions, and while there are different paths to follow, they often all lead to the same result because of the limitations of a pre-programmed adventure. In Neverwinter Nights 2, the ending of the game in particular was a slight disappointment because of that effect. However, this is still by far the best computer RPG I have seen. Now if only someone would take the next step and allow for real-time control of the game world by a Game Master, combined with multiplayer effects!

the story line is awesome! i've had a little trouble getting used to the new interface, moving in this game is quite a bit different from NWN. i still haven't finished the original story line which is great because that means lots of hours of play

You begin as a harborman... You end as a hero (or villain)! This game pwns effectively every other game i have (like 50 of them at least)! begin the adventure in a world with amazing graphics, good story, and exciting combat. Create your character from scratch using the D&D® method. With new prestige classes. Meet various allies, including a dwarf who loves fighting, a sorcerer who is always throwing insults, and a... err... blade golem? the only problem is that it doesn't have an epic feature or some of the coolest prestige classes in d&d®.
Great game anyway though!
