This is a rare game in the sence that it inovates in ways other games in the past and even the future have never acomplished before. The amount of new realizations in terms of game mechanics and freeformed design is really a testiment on how well Ubisoft worked on the game.Everything you experience is something that is unique and exciting.
However,I do have to say that I was extremely disapointed on the Storyline.I thought it was set in the Crusade Era.And was shocked to discover that it took place in the future and was a computer controlled simulations of memories from the person that played Altier from a Corperation. This actually insulted me alot, because I though again it was an exclusive Storyline set place during (I think) the secont Crusade. But I think the most disapointing fact is that the guy who plays Altier doesn't have a Arabic acsent at all even during the Crusade parts.I mean if he is experiencing these events through Altier's eyes it would make sence that he at least has a slight Arab acsent.
Also the Menus are totally confusing and too futuristic for my taste. And the loading screen before the mission is just plain stupid and actually downgrades the overall experience. Now,to the Gameplay-which overall is very well done, but it does have a few flaws. For the most part the platforming is fun,but in certain situations it henders you like jumping verticly on rooftops, because in you jump off onto a vertical structure you nine times out of ten will fall. Also in high tense situations it works against you, like for exsample running away from gaurds and climbing onto rooftops you really have to read the buildings carefully, because if you don't you'll simply hang there as the gaurds throw rocks and knock you down.I think it's stupid that the gaurds throw rocks at you fron stopping you from climbing. The combat mechanics are virtually flawless, except until you get the Counter move the combat is sloppy and is a real struggle. The traveling sequences could have been done a little better. It's hard to direct yourself towards a paticular City. And there are no missions outside the Cities you travel to.Speaking of the mission,I suggest doing all the side ones before tackling the Assassination one, because if you don't you'll regret it and also you'll get more health after a certain number of them.
So,even with all these problems you would be hard pressed not to really enjoy this game. It's alot of fun and if you can get passed the boring Storyline you find yourself truely engrossed in everything else.
Fun but with some camera and CLIMBING faults

He can run up a wall like he's running down a hill; yet when it comes to climbing, well... he sucks. This is a minor fault to the game but he climbs very slowly and on certain places for some reason he cannot climb even though an identical spot somewhere else on the same building he'll skip that rock and jump to the one above it... PORQUE!!! this flaw is frustrating but forgiveable due to how fun this game is and how good it looks. another flaw is the combat. it is a waiting game and then you hit a button. the kills are gruesome and very well animated but not real complicated to do. also the camera sometimes sucks it and you loose sight of the enemy that is about to slash your spine open. throwing knives are fun to use, and not holding the action button but assassinating with the hidden blade is fun. stab them in the back and walk away as they sway for a few seconds and then fall over. who killed him?! i don't know, i'm just walking along in the crowd. very fun. can get pretty repetetive. the ending was pretty weak but it did a nice job of setting up where the sequal(s) will be. pyramids of Giza, Mt. Fuji, Aztec temples, some holy sights in S. America, and some other places that i didn't recognize. it should be a nice variety of more desert, rain forests, and some snowy mountains. should be great as long as the few issues are resolved. maybe rent the game as it is a quick play and not much replay value. if you're trying to get all of the (G) for the game, good luck with that, to max it out it's pretty much a scavenger hunt.
Amazing from start to, well not even a finish yet...

The stunning teaser trailers held up the hype for this game. From the stunning graphics to the massive maps, this game keeps you going from the start. I've not finished the whole game yet as I am spacing my time out on it. Other than the repetitive fighting system and side missions, this game is pretty close to amazing. I'm looking forward to a sequel if that is what Ubisoft is planning for.

I bought this game with very few expectations. I was hoping for something fun to play until the holidays were over. When I first started playing the game the graphics were the most impressive aspect of the game. The cinematography is ultra-realistic. I felt like I was in the Crusade Era.
The beginning of the game is a bit slow and it takes awhile to get going. However, as soon as you get into the game, after the first memory strand where you are forced to follow a set pattern of events, the game really takes off. The fight sequences are great visually and easy to control. The story-line is gripping and can keep my interest peaked. The replay ability is almost uinlimited as you can go back to any mission and try it again. There are multiple ways to complete the tasks although none of them are very difficult.
I would recommend this title to anyone that does not mind a lot of bloody hand-tohand combat.

Assassin's Creed is a story of a man's explorations of his history as a family member in a long line of assassins. One part of the game is played in the future where there is a major conspiricy going on...but the other side takes place in the year 1191 A.D.. The story line is that you are Altair, a young headstrong assassin, that must go through and destroy his targets like a shadow. On a scale of 1-10 10 being the best this game is by far a 699238272823.

I'll have to say, this is one of the best games i've ever played. Stealth, action, mystery- it has it all. It gets a little repetitive, but what game doesn't? Tired of performing assassinations? Go save some Citizens, or explore the kingdom. I highly reccomend this game to anyone and everyone.

This game is excellent! It can get a bit repetitive though. You can kill anyone that you want. Fight using a wide variety of counters and combos! Climb hundreds of feet into the air and then jump off!
Excellent and interesting storyline! As the story progresses, it gets more interesting and you can't wait for the futuristic parts of the game to come in. The end will make you anticipate the next Assassins Creed!
You can collect flags, kill Templars, save citizens, climb viewpoints, and investigate! Use a variety of weapons to kill your enemies! Throwing knives, your hidden blade, sword, or dagger. The sword and dagger have their own set of combos and counters.
Overall, I would give this game a 9/10!

Overall, Assassin's Creed is a really fun game. The really innovative free running system is something not seen before in any other game I can think of. The character adapts to his surroundings, instead of programming things to be specifically climbed, they just programmed the character to climb on things. The story is very intriguing, mysterious, and really makes you think. There are some things that are repetitive, but the game plays out very well. The size of the cities is absolutely stunning for all the interactions you can do. It's kind of a 12th Century Grand Theft Auto, where your body is the vehicle. My suggestion: Buy it!
Top Notch

Visually stunning in every aspect. 10 out of 10 there. Visual realism is a masterpiece. My only complaint is the clunkiness of climbing walls sometimes. It does add another layer to the tactics being employed during assassination missions however. You will rue the day you climbed a combersome way to the top in the heat of an escape.
