Worst X-Box Game I've Ever Played

I was completely dumbfounded when I played this game. Thank goodness I only rented it for three days. It isn't just bad; it makes the original Wolfenstein look brilliant by comparison. The graphics, game-play, story-line (if you want to call it that) are all stupendously awful. I finished the game in roughly the same time it took to sneeze, and yet I'm fairly certain I still spent more time on the game than the designers did. Please protect yourself and rent it first if you are even considering buying it. This is the worst X-Box game or even computer game I have EVER seen. It was just mind-bogglingly awful. A twelve-year-old could put together something better in ten minutes. Just, if you like it, great, but if you've never seen it before, PLEASE rent it first.

why would someone compare this to halo? this is one of the worst games ive played in years. graphics are horrible. the textures and bland colors are so ugly. this game makes a joke of the xboxes power. bland flat textures a total lack of color and poor action seqeunces. combine to make this one of the ugliest looking xbox games to date. the game has no story at all. it abruptly cuts to the game. the actaul gameplay is weak. you just go around shooting. theres no stealth cativating combat nothing like that. you just walk up and shoot. this is the easiest fps ive ever played. enemies hardly fight back. they just stay there and allow bullets to bounce off there body. until you kill them. whereas halo succeded with great artifical intelligence this game fails painfully. little tiny claustrophobic sised areas provide little to no exploration. for instance youre in a level. and you fight a few brain dead bad guys and before you know it youre at the end of a level. whereas halo had gigantic levels that took like 40 minutes to cross. the controls are also quite awful. when you walk up to a bad guy. youre hardly even facing him. this causes you to die and go back to the beginning of a level repeadatly. overall ts2 with the ugly graphics empty feeling story claustrophobic sised areas and terrible gameplay and camera is better left as a rental. there are plenty of better fps out there. halo hitman 2 max payne even turok is better. i dont see why people even say this game is like halo. beleive this game is bad. its 100 percent hype. my suggestion get halo then wait for halo 2. ive already beaten halo like 100 times. but i rather play it for the 101th time. than bother with this sorry awful train wreck of a game once more.

An incredibly difficult to operate game with a boring story and some sorry levels. The controls just stink, in the midst of combat you will find yourself switching from your weapon to a useless motion tracker. To redeem the poor controls most levels have very few bad guys for you to face, so you stand a chance of stumbling through and surviving. If you want a good shooter try Halo, Max Payne, Hitman II.

Worst FPS ever made. why did this get ported to XBOX???

This is the worst first person shooter I've ever played. I was lucky enought to rent this before I shelled out the $$$. Like many of you I saw the cover and read the part about "first halo now this" well I can't tell you how much money eidos gave to gamespot for this statement but it had better of been a heafty sum.

The gameplay is worthless in this game. Timesplitters only lasted about 5 minutes in my XBOX before I took it back to blockbuster. Graphics are horrible the people move like they are some sort of puppets with broken legs (strange people with extra joints in their legs??? who knows).

any other FPS on the xbox is better (even Turok) trust me do not buy this game. punish eidos for even trying to pull this one over on us!

NOT AS GOOD AS IT SOUNDS

The game has a story line realy close to 007 for N64. The controls [] are to sensitive and they don't do enough actions or any combos. Even though it has better grphics, 007 is still better. The game also follows Halo a little bit. Personaly Halo is the number one choice for a shooting game for all systems. All in all this game [is bad]. Take my word for it, don't get it. If you still are thinking about getting the game rent it first and then see what you think.

Thanks For Reading

Poor graphics, unsalvagably boring asinine gameplay, deaf and dumb clumsy controls, and a soundtrack that serves only to remind you of the monotonous passage of time combine to make this possibly the second worst x-box game ever, spared highest dishonors only by the existence of the unmentionable Obi-Wan. If I see "Halo" and "TimeSplitters 2" in the same sentence again I will chew glass.

Halo succeeds on so many levels where this fails. The levels are long and Obi-wan-style sparse and stupid, but that's ok because you're in the Ferrarri of nauseating turbo wheelchairs. The enemy AI is poor, and the controls are so ham-handed that none of the gun battles have any intensity whatsoever as you plink your way through the endless hordes of retarded mimes.

The only thing in this title that will quicken your pulse is when you finally die and realize that you have to play about 20 minutes of the same level over again... and over again... and over again... Halo introduced a genius checkpoint system; no FPS game being released almost a YEAR later should be without something like it. Especially when the cover says "First Halo, and now this..." This title would get zero stars except for one lesson I've learned: always, always, always rent before you buy, even if the game has several 9+ ratings.

Not for Children

Not good for children. I thought it would be a great game for my son with time traveling. I saw my son and my daughter running around shooting and flamethrowing eachother and laughing when they killed eachother off. It really bothered me and I took it away. The graphics are pretty gross. Wait until they are teens to buy this one

Don't believe the hype

I was pretty excited when I finally got this game, especially after all of the great reviews it's gotten in the game magazines. Unfortunately, the more I play it, the more disappointed I am. This game has been highly overrated by the gaming magazines and websites. The biggest disappointment is the graphics. While there's always compromise in graphics quality when a game is designed for three systems at once, the graphics in TS2 just aren't anywhere near as good as they should be. The game totally fails to take advantage of the capabilities the XBox has. In fact, with a few exceptions like higher poly count, a lot of the graphics are PS1 or N64 quality. Textures aren't really used, and surfaces are bland and flat. There isn't much in the way of lighting - characters don't even seem to have shadows. The level designs are fairly lame, both in story mode and in multiplayer - most levels are basically no more than a maze, with you as the rat. Levels are fairly small, simple and linear, not much room for the kind of exploration that Halo allows, and there are very few objects in the levels, save the odd box or barrel. How boring. The game's "story" mode isn't much of a story - there are a lot of different elements that don't really go together, so you're really just running around shooting stuff. The sounds in the game are incredibly lame. In many cases where you'd expect to hear something, like footsteps, there's no sound. Where sounds are used, they're pretty cheap, generic stuff. Gameplay in TS2 gets old quickly, in part because of the boring levels, in part because of the speed. If all you want to do is run around and shoot things without thinking much about what you're doing and having to use any real tactics, then this game might interest you. The game runs at 60 frames per second (and the framerate is smooth), but unfortunately this makes the game almost too fast-paced to be enjoyable. The game will appeal more to Unreal fans than to Halo fans.

On a positive note, the game does support system link play or play over a LAN with an ethernet hub, so you can get up to 4 XBoxes and up to 16 players playing at once (no support for XBox Live, though). There are a wide variety of game modes and different characters in the game, and that can help stave off the boredom for a little while. There's also a map editor feature that lets you build your own levels. It's not as good as the map editors you might see with some PC games, but console gamers that are new to the idea will probably have a lot of fun with it.

As for the comparisons to Halo: Sorry, there's no comparison. This game is not anywhere near the quality of Halo. If you're expecting it to be, you'll be disappointed.

Good as a multiplayer...

This game may be good as a multiplayer but as a one-player game, it isn't anything special. The aiming is terrible and the jerky camera movements are the worst. The graphics seem cartoonish and not really appropriate for this type of game. The story line is lame to say the least but the fact that you get to travel through time is interesting...too bad you will probably die in the first few minutes of a level since you have to be so precise with the aiming. Rent first before you buy. I'm glad I did.
