Game Play:
The game play is a lot of fun. The game dynamics change and you are faced with different challenges that require different approaches. You will not get bored with repetitive game play, but rather encouraged to change your play style depending on the situation. There are areas in the game where blasting your way through the enemy is encouraged or required. In other areas the number of enemies is overwhelming and using stealth would be advantages. Other parts of the game give you the freedom to do what you want. There is a plethora of stealth items at your disposal to aid you. At the same time you get tons of weapons: hand guns, machine guns, grenade launchers, sniper rifles, rail gun and the list goes on. Not only that but these weapons are customizable so you can create the ultimate stealth\brute-force weapon depending on your style. Add to this several arcade style boss fights and you get a game play that is diverse enough to keep you hooked till the very end.
Storyline:
I was completely immersed in the storyline. The never ending plot twists and revelations will keep you wanting more. The cut scenes, though long, are fantastic and better than most Hollywood movies I've seen lately.
Graphics:
The screenshots speak for themselves. I haven't seen better graphics anywhere else. If you have please let me know.
If you own a PS3 get this game. It is the best game on the PS3 so far. I can't wait for "Little Big Planet" and "Resistance 2".

Pros:
- Engrossing storyline
- Unmatched production values (graphics, cutscenes, voice acting, music all top of the line)
- New gameplay mechanics truly revolutionize the stealth action genre
- Ridiculously cool gadgets (OctoCamo suit, MKII robot...) are added to Snake's arsenal
- PS3 exclusive
Cons:
- No chance of understanding the story if you haven't played the previous MGS games.
- Long periods of time without playing (aka long cutscenes)
- Snake can't run, just walk sort of fast
- CQC animations do not look as though they would hurt anyone...
- No more Solid Snake after this

Metal Gear Solid 4 is easily as technically amazing as it is fun and compelling. After the long wait PS3 has a booming and obviously successful title highly worth mentioning.
Many argue that the story is utter garbage, opinions applied here I must say
I have no problem with it. The overall story in my opinion is great and highly cinematic, the graphics easily attribute to the Hollywood flick like feeling. The controls are smooth, but may take a bit to some to get use to.
A must buy for PS3 owners, fans of stealthy (or in my case dramatic gun run approach), or fans of a great story. MGS 4 will not let you down.

Snake has come a long way since the NES/MSX days, but MGS4 is still the same fun series we played as kids.
The attention to detail in this game is incredible - level design is on par with Assassin's Creed, but the gameplay is better than GTA4.
Don't forget your cardboard box!

I don't know why this game is so great, I wonder if it is because of the graphics, or the gameplay, maybe the sound, the highly detailed atmosphere, the story, the character or something esle, but all together turn into the best game i've ever played.

MGS4 Is the best game of the year, without a doubt, i recommended, if you are a player of Metal Gear from the beginning on 1987, you will very satisfied with this game, if you don`t know the game, you will want get the others 3 games, the graphics, the sound, the story, the movements of the character all is awesome, the weapons are incredible realistic, The Octocamo of the suit was an awesome new addition of the Game, don`t think about it... buy it right now, this is an only game for PS3, if you have an XBOX 360 sold it right now, halo 3 is for childs, Nintendo Wii the same thing, this is a game that can make a lot new fans of PS3

I'm going to be quick and brief about this game review.
+ Every mystery in the MGS universe is revealed.
+ Gameplay is the best in the series.
+ Every aspect of the gameplay is bigger and better(except boss battles).
+ Loads of extras to collect. Making this games replay value high.
+/- Tons of cutscenes(seriously about half of the game) However, you can easily skip or pause these cutscenes.
+ Music is great
+ Kojima really cattered to the nostalgia of true Metal Gear fans. There are many flashbacks and homages paid to earlier MG games and every(I mean EVERYthing) detail of the MGS universe is rounded up in this installment.
- Some characters seem forced into the plot( Naiomi for one). They play major roles in the plot but it seems they mashed everyone who didn't die in an earlier installment into the game just to have closure. Also, some "romances" seem rushed. Actually, all the romances seemed rushed just to match X and Y chromosomes together.
- My Biggest complaint about the game is the boss battles. This is the cornerstone to the MGS series( Psycho Mantis being the greatest boss battle ever). Of the 4-6 boss battles only one feels like you havnt done it before. I realize that the boss battles are homages to the previous boss battles but they come off less inspiring. You can redo things but make them bigger and better. I did not get that feeling from the boss fights except 1. This is the main reason I took 1 star away from a 5 star game.
So this year,so far, we've got GTA4(extremely overhyped and literally overrated on every website and article i read) and MGS4 as the main contenders for game of the year. MGS4 gets my vote. If you have a PS3 and don't have this game shame on you.

Im gonna keep it real short and sweet. I never played any of the other MGS before (sort of ruined whatever story there was b4) but this game makes me want to play them all! I have about 20 ps3 games and this is deff one of my favorites! This game also has and extremly high replay value! Must have for any type of gamer!!!
