It's a Movie not a Game

Great game, great graphics but if you are going to play it make sure you have a lot of time to spare. There are tons of cinema sequences and some are very long. This game is like if your playing a movie instead of a game.
I want to play the game not watch 15 mins or more cinema sequences, if I wanted that I would've watch a flick.
Don't get me wrong, the game is awesome but again get used to the idea you'll be doing a lot of watching while you do some playing.

Je me nomme Daniel Fortin.
Je joue à cette serie depuis 1987 avec ces début sur la console NINTENDO , et lorsque 10 ans plus tard j'ai vu cet article dans un magasine de jeux video avec le titre : METAL GEAR SOLID , je n'ai pu m'empêcher de revivre les émotions que le premier jeux m'avais donné 10 ans auparavant!!! Ainsi...je suis devenu ce que l'on nomme un ''fanboy'' et même le plus grand collectioneur en Amérique du nord!!!

je suis aussi la seule personne connu et reconnu ayant recu le fameux et désormais célebre ranking : ''BIG BOSS'' sur MGS 1 (version PSX)!!!
(Un exploit d'habileté manuelle et intellectuel atteint à la ''OLD SCHOOL''...pas de cheats , codes) Exploit qui restera à jamais gravé dans mon coeur!

Ceci étant dit,
METAL GEAR SOLID 4 : Guns of the Patriots sera l'apothéose de la serie en dévoilant enfin le secret derrière les ''PATRIOTS''!!!

to be clear nothing could live up to the hype that this game has shown. Maybe it's just me but the game seems to be repetitive and doesn't necessarily hold the attention for long spans of attention. There is just something about japanese games that I've never really gotten, from the convoluted storytelling [this game has that problem worse than any other game I've ever seen], murky dialogue, strange features [like being able to call up an oil drum to hide in no matter where you are. my girlfriend particularly spiked the game on this one... another sticking point is that why should I be able to go to Drebin's Store to buy weapons wherever I am in the world?]. I personally find it very tedious to have to pick up dead bodies and then drop them to have an item tossed out for me to collect.... just give me the item when he dies!

The cut scenes, not a sticking point with me, though I can see how people are spiking them. The sneaking stealth game is fine. I dunno, gets kinda old. The eastern european map seems very strange. I'm wondering if I'll continue from here. I figure it's about halfway through the game. I dunno how much interested I am in continuing.

Maybe one of the big sticking points is the very repetitive dialogue. Every time you get spotted the guard shouts the same thing: "It's the enemy!" And a voice over their radio always says the same thing "Sending in reinforcements" and then finally "The threat has been lifted, resume normal position". man. All the great dialogue you get in gears of war, cod, and halo games have kinda made me spoiled.

Don't get me wrong, it is visually a great game. I wouldn't have given it as much time as I have if not. still, the hype seems way overboard on this one.

A really great close to an alreay excellent series. Who cares if the cutscenes are long? They've always been long and frankly you won't notice the length because of the story. If you've liked the previous games, you will love this game, regardless of what anybody else says.

The greatest game I've ever played

People have gotten pretty hyperbolic about this game, so I will avoid that and keep this short: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the greatest game I have ever played. It's not perfect, but in the face of everything this game is, everything it achieves, to make anything of them just seems petty. This series is the Watchmen of gaming, and Hideo Kojima is its Alan Moore. I finished the game in two 16+ hour sessions and it was one of the greatest weekends of my life. I'm still at a loss for words. The gameplay, the graphics and sound, the story - my God the story. If I could compare it to anything, playing MGS4 for the first time was akin to going from the Genesis era to Final Fantasy VII. Although many, many games have come and gone that are far superior to FFVII on all fronts, nothing had come close to the visceral and emotion experience of playing that game for the first time. Nothing until this past weekend, that is.

Absolutely fantastic.

Finished it this morning and was absolutely blown away. Put your bitterness for MGS2 and MGS3 aside, you *MUST* own this game!!! If this is to be the last of MGS, there couldn't be a more epic sendoff, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

PS3 to the next level!!

This game is it! Its all you need. This game proves that PS3 kicks 360's butt! There is no way the 360 processor can handle this game. Sony has proved itself putting this out there. This has been the most amazing and unique gaming that i've ever experienced in my 20 years. I completed the game and i'm half way through the game again. I just can't put this game down. There are so many things you can do. If you're a metal gear fan get this! even if you're not, get this! The story line is amazing as well!! GET IT!

Another great and beautiful action game to hit Playstation 3. This game has amazing graphics, sound, and story line. A must buy for Metal Gear Solid fan.

Let me start by saying this game has a mature rating and is not intended for gamers under seventeen. With that said let us begin, shall we? Six years ago there was an incident called "Big Shell" and since then the world has become dependant on war. Enter solid Snake, an aging special agent with clone body thrown into the fire for one last hoorah. His mission: to terminate his twin brother, Liquid Ocelot. But wait...didn't his brother die in part one? Yes! His spirit, will, and drive have been infused with another named, Revolver Ocelot. If Solid Snake fails at his mission, the armies of the PCM will seize control of the free world. Aided by his good friend, Dr. Hal "Otacon" Emmerich, Solid Snake accepts his mission and goes of to save the world. Should I continue with the story or move to the gameplay? I'll move to the gameplay.

The controls for MGS$ are some of the smoothest around. The story is a free reign game, which means you have complete control of how you wish to proceed. This is a feature, I for one, love...as I often find myself delving off track. The style of gameplay is also left up to the gamer. You can go John Wayne style with your guns blazing....or, you can go James Bond style and slip past your enemies. Regardless of which style you choose to incorporate, the game will adjust to you. This is by far the best game thus released for the PS3 and if I had just one knock against it, it would be that it's a tad short. Other than that, this is the game that will keep you busy for one hundred plus hours.

This is one of the funnest games I've ever played, the cinematics are incredible and only possible in ps3 I could say this is the best metal gear game of all time, buy this trust me
