When I first started playing this game, my initial reaction was that it was great. Spidey's movements are very "realistic" (meaning that he can do what you would expect Spider Man to do). Zipping through streets, crawling around on walls and ceilings, etc., all make for a fun game. The graphics are great.
Now the bad news--the game got rather boring, and somewhat annoying, rather quickly. At least it did for me. I thought the first two levels were great. But then you face off against Vulture, and the game takes a turn for the worse (minor, though, perhaps). The Vulture level is too easy. Then the levels after that are a mix of too easy (Scorpion), and very difficult (Green Goblin).
The biggest issues I have with the game are the controls and the camera angles. Because Spidey can do so much, the controls feel difficult, especially during aerial combat. Even more annoying is the way the camera jumps around all the time. There are several times when stealth is required, but because of the steep camera angles you cannot see very far in front of you (especially when crawling on the ceiling). Think of playing Tenchu without the ability to look around.
Die-hard fans will undoubtedly love this game, and with some good reason. But for the rest of you, I recommend renting it or borrowing it first. I think you'll find that it plays very quickly, and you'll soon find yourself with a [price] game with little to no replay value.
Like great games? If you do this is a must.

Ok, so people say this game is cool but easy. Thats true, if your on easy mode. This game lets you swing around the city, sneak into buildings, climb on any surface, and do a million things with your webbing. That's just the start. The power of this game meets the power of ps2. If you have xbox or gamecube, thats a shame although spider man is just as good for those systems. I would not recomend this on PC. The graphics are choppy and its a pain, but on ps2, xbox, or gamecube this game gets on my top 10 list. I higly recomend you buy this game. It is worth the whole 50 bucks. I got so many hours out of this game. The graphics are amazing. The story is not too long or short, and after the game there are around 10 training levels that are great. Also, the cheats are awesome. Play as any charcter in the game. Infinite webbing, level select, and more. This game is a must buy. Its definatley up there with GTA3, TonyHawk3, Medal of HOnor, James Bond, State of Emergency, NBA street, and Blitz 2002.
It's good but it could have been so much sweeter

Spider-man is my boy!! I waited impatiently for it's release over here in England for PS2. I had read the reviews and had seen screenshots. I was hoping this would be the game that would make me cry with joy but unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations.
For starters I don't think it should be called Spiderman: The Movie as it has few similarities in conjunction with the movie. I've seen the movie 5 times that's why I felt betrayed by the game's creators. The plot of the game has only a few references towards the film. I had already heard that Shocker,Vulture and Scorpion were going to be in the game so I was wondering how that was going to work as they weren't in the movie. Another irritation was the inclusion of Super Soldiers in the Oscorp base and mechanical spiders in a parking lot. This all took away the feeling of playing the role of Spiderman from the movie, whereas I felt I was just Spiderman in a role that was pretty unnecessary.
Gameplay was poor. Spiderman had some nice moves at his disposal but that was about it. Some of the tasks were only completed by sheer luck. One example of this was when Spiderman had to locate and disarm bombs placed around the city within a given time limit while under constant fire from flying mech droids and spotlights which helped the droids to make finding you even easier. This was a near impossible task which made me lash out at my wall and damage my fist. Another was having to escape from Oscorp with super soldiers in hot pursuit, an almost impossible task. Many parts of the game were its downfall.
The game did have some nice graphical cut scenes but it seemed the further you got in the game the worse the graphics in the cut scenes became. I have played MGS2 religiously and so far that is one of the best games around, for graphics, gameplay and soundtrack. Why couldn't Spiderman have the same kind of beauty that MGS2 had? Spiderman deserved to have the same beauty and fluidity as Solid Snake. Good music, graphics, gameplay and a plot worthy of the Spiderman movie. Come on guys, you could have done so much better.
Awesome Game

It's an awesome game for anyone. Its a lot of fun and it has some challenging levels like Breaking and Entering. The chases with the Green Goblin is amazing. He brakes stuff like water towers that you have to fix with your web.The storyline is the best part. It's like playing a movie of your own.The villians are the Shocker,Vulture,Scorpion, and of course Spidey's biggest nemesis the Green Goblin. So even if you own an X-Box or Gamecube buy this game. The only thing that disappointed though is i have a PS2 and the X-Box has 2 levels just about Kraven the Hunter. But o'well its still my fav.hope you liked my review.the next game you should buy is this.
Fun, no frustration

Spiderman good.
It's fun and its pretty easy so you don't get frustrated.
Spiderman's voice by Tobey Maguire is great. The inside jokes are pretty funny. The game is a little messed up though. They kinda mixed up the environments and the time so its not exactly like the movie. But all this just makes the game better and also gives the game a happy ending. Sort of. The controls are really easy to learn and the combos are so kool. Web the badguys up and jump onto their shoulders are ride on them while you pound their head or just to finish them, perform a reverse snap suplex. I give this game 5 stars and its worth your money.
Hint: Once you finish the game, try racking up some points. You dont know what suprise will be in store for you.
Great game, but too short

This game has great graphics and gameplay. The continual storyline and constant action of the game keep you playing. But I was disappointed when I completed the game a day after I rented it. However, there are secrets to unlock and extras, like pinhead bowling where you web-swing to knock down tied up thugs as bowling pins. It's a fun game and I do recommend buying it despite it's length.
AWESOME GAME!!!! But to short

Spiderman is really cool game. You asume the part of peter parker or spiderman. The game starts out as you search for uncle bens killer. The cool thing about this is that you are not wearing your original spiderman costume but the "Human Spider costume" that Peter Parker wore when he was in the ring with bonesaw. I think that's is kind of cool you have to work your way up into the real spiderman costume. Anyway the game has really good and helpful training stages. my favorite is pinhead bowling but you have to unlock it first. The game has really good graphics and gameplay. The enviroment is actually really really big, and the voices of spiderman and the green goblin are really cool to. Now the down points of the game. The first few levels are good with a bunch of guys to fight but as the game goes on their are barely any bad guys and just the green goblin. Spiderman is a very short and pretty easy game. Their are only four major bosses and are all easy except the green goblin. Besides that this game is a really cool game and I recommend it to all gamers.
Good Game But Flawed

I really liked the games, but I would like to pick out the pros and cons.
Pros:
Detailed controls
Challenging gameplay
Numerous fight styles
Cons:
Camera angles slow to respond at times
Get's Old Soon
To Much Like Your Old Spiderman Game
So eventually it game out three pros and three cons. But I think it still deserves 4 stars. So if games never get old for you and you don't and you liked the old spiderman games then get it. If you didn't than don't get it.
A game to never forget, not meaning it's a good one

I know what you're thinking when you hear of the "Spider-Man the movie" video game. The movie was a legendary movie, that will never be forgotten. This game is the same, except it's a bit less exciting. I have to admit, this game was the best for a week. Then, after beating it about 6 more times, you get annoyed. The game play graphics make it look like the producers didn't put any effort into. The only real character voices in the game are Spider-Man(Toby McGuire), and the Green Goblin. The FMV sequences are off da hook. The only drawbacks are the camera controls, the basic controls(since you have to use the analog stick for a swing move, and the D-pad for better control in the char), and the gameplay graphics. This game is a good rental. Get the game only if you have a lot of money.
Difficult and frustrating from the start

Spiderman is sooo whimpy in this game. I wonder if the people who made this game know that in the comics Spiderman can bench press TEN TONS!!! You have to beat on a simple crook several times to get him to go down. That is so unlike Spiderman that it's absurd. What's worse, the bad guys often come at you in large groups, making them almost impossible to defeat.
Each level gets progressivly more difficult, and more frustrating. I finally reached one level that had tons of traps and robots...I can't get any farther. That was the first day I had the game. I would strongly suggest renting this one instead of buying it if you must try it.
